What time period do you think the next Battlefield should go?

We've had 2 modern day Battlefield games in a row, although Hardline is a different theme, that could also be counted as another modern-day era title.

There were a couple of hints from some Neogaf members (as well as Levelcap) that the next title would be set during World War II, so essentially going back to 1942-era. Although with a more modern Battlefield-style gameplay of course. How would you feel about that?

Personally I would love a 2143, firstly there have been a number of hints/easter eggs in both BF 3 and BF 4 (especially with the Final Stand expansion). Because while it's futuristic, it's still very much grounded within the Battlefield universe and it's not some crazy Call of Duty thing with exosuits, jetpacks and all these things.

Plus the main reason is that I'd very much like the return of one of the best Battlefield modes ever, Titan.

I feel like fatigue is just setting in. Do battlefront for a year or two then come out with something shiny.

I'd personally like to see korean war. Don't think that's had a game yet but WW2 would be neat since most modern players picked it up right around when COD4 got popular.

WW2, not because I like that period all that much, but because I think the slower vehicles match the pace of the ground combat better.

This is the only FPS franchise I can see benefiting from going back to WW2.

Before BLOPS 2, Titanfall etc I would have said 2143 though.

Nah, WW2 is boring. Its been covered by just soooooo many shooters.

Future is the best cause it allows for more imaginative and creative weapons and vehicles

I expect some bitching if they did 2142 sequel
" look at battlefield copying COD by doing a future game"

I want return of Titan mode but they better go full future none this some robot stuff but still close to modern setting

It won't leave modern/future until their audience is physically vomiting from the market saturation. Going back to WW2 would remove so much that the newer audience love about the game.

I want WW2

Psh these people saying modern, like there isnt enough of that shit. Also to answer the question past or future will be fine, id love if it was an imaginary setting like steampunk or something but you know, that'll never happen so ill settle for future or past

It should go back to world war 2. It's been a while since we got a decent ww2 shooter in consoles and I would really love the next battlefield to be 1944.

It's going to be some kind of 2143 though because that is what everyone else is doing, and in this industry games go by trends.

Hoping it goes a little further into the future than 2143... didn't quite feel futuristic enough.

WW2.

This level with Frostbite and the DICE sound design.

EDIT: Removed some due to people taking offense. Sorry.

Why should we limit ourselves to one time period? My ideal Battlefield game would have maps from a variety of different periods and wars.

I don't think I am crazy for wanting Bad Company 3.

Just 2 modern day Battlefield games in a row? I thought it was more!

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Bad Company 1, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline.

Those are the console ones anyway.

But yea, either WW2 or 2143, I'll be joining the military at the end of the year so I'll get to see even more modern day stuff. :p

4000! Fights in Martian canyons , in undersea Europa habitats, on Titan's methane lakes, in a city within a ring-like space habitat, on rooftops of a flooded abandoned Manhattan... What Destiny could have been with more military and less blue skinned aliens.

Drool!

Do we really need another future war game though?

I would have thought Star Wars fills the void for something like this.

WW2 or Vietnam, either of those please and I will be very happy. Those time periods and weapons are so much more fun to me than modern/future time periods.

Modern is only acceptable if it's Bad Company 3, otherwise, World War II.

We have enough futuristic shit clogging the shooter genre up with the continuation of Halo, Call of Duty throwing it's marbles into Sci-Fi territory at this point and Titanfall getting a sequel that's almost assured to be successful.
