I was really looking forward to this event

Never believe in China man

Sol Badguy has 10 times as many belt buckles on him at any given moment than i have owned my entire life.
The obsession with belt buckles is crazy in Japan.

Sorry, sort of babbling as I reason this marketing thing out to myself here. The regional preferences differing between the East and West is something of a puzzle to me to try and work out a good mid point strategy I'd like to see folks build around to appeal equally to both markets. Sadly, I can't figure out how yet though.
Once again to ASW Blazblue is more than just a fighting game, it's a franchise. Just like west was into cross media madness a while ago, still is, with books, movie deals, comics and shit. Same deal in japan but with their own little twist, there you have your manga adaptations, spin offs, character merch, licensed figures, anime.

Not to mention that the dynamics or arcades change up the whole marketing approach, there they don't need to sell a $60 to someone, they need to convince someone to go into an arcade and drop 100円, or however much it is, into the machine.

Then you have to really consider is the fighting game audience the primary audience for this in america. There are people that probably do pick these games up because of the story and the character designs, they might not be into fighting games but they might be into this game. BB, and also P4 now, has at least some single player modes like endless abyss where you can just screw around with a favorite character and get powers and have fun.

Now that I think about it "How do we sell this game to the FGC in the west" is probably not even 2nd or 3rd on the list of priorities for ASW.

which is irritating because just being a little bit more 'consumer friendly' in a western sense (not outrageous demands) would probably net them a fair chunk of change. hopefully enough to make it worthwhile, but maybe they don't think so.

Seeing how BB was their best selling series so far in the states if I remember right in their minds they are probably doing things right.

On the other side of the coin there is no way they could do what they do with the single player in typical updates. Asking for 36 plus hours of story mode that's dubbed in two languages, new backgrounds, new music, typically a bunch of new characters, system mechanic overhauls for 15/20 bucks is a little out there. Not to mention the size the game would end up being from updates.

The only games that shouldn't exist are the extend ones. These should have been payed for expansion dlc.

since we're on the subject(we're always on this subject*) of anime fighting games... I want a Hunter X Hunter fighting game. I wanna main Hisoka and do some cool bungee shit.

I'm sure SFxT revisionist historians will be sure to forget that little detail when slapping on 5 layers of rose tinted goggles.

And, yet, during the sound glitch period of SFxT the online was still better than SF4, Marvel, MKX, MK9, KOF13, and many other "successful games" at the time.

In fact the online was actually better BEFORE the sound glitch was fixed. It felt pretty much perfect besides the sound.

And, even after the sound was fixed, SFxT online was STILL better than all the games I listed, lol.

Rollback > Input Delay. No rose tinted glasses are necessary to know that.

dude its all about killua. id wanna go lightning mode and fuck shit up. either that or play as the old man and do some crazy 100 hand buddha shit that'll be godlike.

Conspiracy theory about Shanghai CPT.

Since this is the first tournament played on PS4, they went dark just in case something bad happened.

One thing that drove me absolutely nuts when I tried playing SFxT (around the time the 2013 update came out) was that the online UI/UX experience was horrific. You try to play a ranked game online... here's a loading screen. Then you might find a match... but you will find a loading screen. Now you need to go to character select, which takes a ton of time to load. But wait, you need to now select your gems! And the stage! And more loading! Now you're finally in a match (if they haven't disconnected yet.) It seriously took about as long to get into a game as it did to play it. Absolutely awful, since about most of those loading screens aren't needed. Why can't I pick characters/gems before matchmaking? It's blind pick anyway.

I only agreed at first because I had seen up to Greed Island, but now I'm in the middle of the Chimera Ant arc and shit is crazy. HxH would be spectacular if ASW were forced to make a fighting game adaptation with no less than 20 characters.

Always and forever.
Playable phantom troupe sounds cool + Chimera king.
Not enough vacuum cleaners in fighting games
What playable character even use a vacuum cleaner? The only character I can think of is Marie from Skullgirls and she was only playable through a hack (for a while anyways iirc).
This Smash tourney update is horrific. I can't believe Sakurai could be this stupid.
What did he do?
