Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I know, what i said is Amazon France was reporting 24 cars for FM5, which means it was a target they couldn't meet back then.

I'm just saying Amazon descriptions (in this case day/night cycle and dynamic weather) shouldn't always be taken as confirmation.

I know that, but you were implying that the only source of info on 24 cars for FM6 was also Amazon, and that we (rightfully) shouldn't trust just that. I was just pointing out that we've got image proof of it having 24 cars, that's all.

Amazon DE added some new texts to the description, not sure when this happened exactly, but a few days ago they were definitely not there. I checked with FR, UK and US, but haven't found anything similar.

A lot of marketing rah-rah, but one very interesting detail (without typos...)

Erstmals in Forza Motorsport wird der Spieler zusätzlich durch Tag-Nacht-Zyklen und wechselnde Wettereinflüsse herausgefordert.

For the first time in Forza Motorsport, the player is also challenged by day-night cycles and changing weather conditions.

Just curious. Only Amazon.de knows about that?

I'm still trying the figure out why people think that you'd need to compromise to improve on a game developed before the console even launched.

How many Xbox One games run at 1080p/60fps rock solid? That is why some are questioning it. Hitting those targets with good graphics, good lighting, decent AA, shadows etc. takes a lot of horse power and on paper we know where the Xbox One lies. I think that is why. I myself am curious as to what is being removed/downgraded to achieve all of this, if that is all of this stuff is true.

Believe me, I want it to be all true, I want all of the rumors and good IQ to be real, but until Dan shows and tells me it, I will remain a little skeptical about it until proven. I know what T10 did from Forza 2 to Forza 4 on the 360, so I know they have prowess to get it done, let's just see if they actually are going to pull all this.

The previous game from this dev does, and that's all that matters in this context. They did it before and they'll do it again. If the game struggles they'll downgrade effects, not framerate or IQ. Since Forza 2 they've ran at the max reasonable res for the console hardware and 60fps, and they're not suddenly going to break that chain, especially in the midst of all this "1080pr" and 900p bullshit that everyone likes to latch onto.

I'd take Forza 1 on PC lol, love that game

I've actually been playing a decent amount of FM1 recently (ran out of events in FM5, and was feeling nostalgic). It's a little sad that it has a more compelling career mode, and general sense of progression than some of the later entries. They need to take some of that stuff (Championship series, Endurance races etc) and reintroduce them.

I'd be happy to never see that Test Track ever again though... holy shit. It's like someone just took their kid's crayoal scribbings, and decided to use it as a track.

Just curious. Only Amazon.de knows about that?

Probably not the only ones that know about it. Just the only ones that decided to tell the world before MS gets a chance to.

Naw, I was talking about this

from Amazon.de

and comparing this to when amazon.fr reported 24 cars for FM5.
This makes it sound like TOD and weather are indeed dynamic, but as was the case with amazon.fr and FM5, it might not be accurate

My comment was not about 1080p/60fps. My point was to make that if you look at the Xbox One catalog of games, Forza 5 is the ONLY game pushing visuals that it does at 1080p/60fps.

What I was trying to convey is that I understand how many are doubting that you can go from F5 1080p/60fps to have TOD, Weather, 24 Cars on track and it still be 1080p/60fps. Even though F5 did 1080p/60fps, it was not pushing 24 cars, weather, TOD. So I am just saying that I understand those that are questioning if it can be done.

Believe me, if it can be done, Turn 10 are the folks that will do it.

The "3D puddles" in the thread title is still a head scratcher.

Are we talking actual simulated water or is this gonna be a buzzword that T10 will use to enhance their version of rain while racing?

Hopefully actual 3D puddles, where they have depth and can lift the wheel from the ground slightly. Similar to how PGR4 puddles catch cars.

Probably just puddles which can cause slow down and aquaplaning. Who knows though. Good thing we will know in 24 hours. :D

I'm confused. I was expecting "Forza 5.5" comments for tomorrow. But people are talking about downgrade. So it will be Forza 4.5?

Forza Motorsport 5; built on a pre-launch SDK, without the 10% GPU reserve, without the efficiency of developing with the console for two years, without forward plus rendering, without an extra CPU core and without DX12.

Do we know fm6 uses forward rendering and takes advantage of DX12 ?
Honest question

FM5 was built on forward rendering and Horizon 2 was built on clustered forward plus rendering, considering its huge benefits for dynamic lighting, ESRAM and MSAA.

It only makes sense.

Turn 10 helped in the development of the Xbox One, a console designed with DX12 in mind. Turn 10 showed off the first game to ever be converted to DX12 from a Xbox One titles.

Again... it just makes sense.

All that secret sauce isn't going to make a 12CU GPU pull off a list of stuff that a stronger console did at 30 fps. They will have to make concessions somewhere.

Keep telling yourself that.

If they had to make concessions then they wouldn't have increased the car count from 16 to 24.

Why not? That's the usual acceptance when talking Polyphony Digital. It's not about a "list". It depends on how it's actually being implemented. Turn 10's already been doing stuff that others aren't doing on more powerful hardware.

I'm pretty sure T10 is going to give those of us who enjoy the Forza games a brilliant experience with the new game.

However I'm also sure that there will be enough minor nitpick elements to ensure the miserable game-hating types to bash T10 and XB1 over the head for consolewarz lolz.

Thank God for ignore poster options and dedicated threads eh?

What do I want from FM6? Well there's a massive list. But there's lots of things we're never going to get in a franchise like that this that aims to have a broad appeal. So I don't think there's much point listing a ton of motorsport rules elements. So here's my realistic (ish, okay it goes off on few unrealistic tangents!) list:

  • 1080p60 pretty with good IQ - I don't care which renderer, whether baked or dynamic. I prefer games to look good, I really don't mind how it's done. I can judge with my eyes whether a game looks good, I don't need a DF article and a forum argument to tell me
  • A much more refined interface - I don't want to have to scroll through every car in the store.
  • An involving career mode, without endlessly repeated dialogue
  • A much more detailed single race mode - so I can pick "GT Cars only" rather than mess around with custom private lobbies, or just being able to select a P class. I want to be able to set up a Le Mans race and choose a mix of LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2 cars.
  • Engaging and convincing handling (I don't doubt we'll get that, T10 know what they are doing here)
  • More tracks (FM5 + all the track DLC would have been fine at XB1 launch, I want more now though)
  • Replays without all that compression - so we can see the physics engine at work as it was while playing, previous games lacked replay detail
  • Better replay cameras, natural TV style movement and varied camera editing from lap to lap to give a more broadcast feel
  • I'm not that fussed about weather/time of day, but I wouldn't want to deny those that want it
  • More engaging cockpit view - look to apex, more movement - like PCars
  • Realistic use of assists - GT racing with ABS/TCS shouldn't penalise the player if the real cars use those in the race
  • Perhaps some sort of differentiation between real onboard assists, and game assists.
  • Some indication and support of car setup modes - so we can switch the P1 between road and race etc. Or if we only have a sim of one car mode - please tell us what it actually is. Which car setup is the game simulating - a few lines of text would do.
  • Plenty of Lamborghinis
  • I like drivatars, so more refined version of that would be good

That's enough for now.

don't try to hold your breath every time it doesn't on XB1

It still won't be able to do THIS (edit: THIS definitely not)... but whatever, I'll probably buy and
love it
anyway.

Hey don't put any limitations on what's possible.
