Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

FUz3Dc7.jpg

Just speculating that this pic is hinting on something... could it be, that they have - if not ToD - then at least pre-baked lighting scenarios for different ToD? For example for 7:00, 12:00, 19:30, 0:00 ?
The pic has a touch of sunset. It's neither FM5's "day" nor "night racing"(as teased by the xbox japan announcement).

Probably the pre-baked lighting for so many tracks and 4 different day/night-times would make the game's file-size explode though.. ://

You may be on to something, although if anything like FM5 and Bathurst for example where its around dusk/sunset.

Isn't that picture from a Ford marketing thing and not from MS/T10?

Amazon DE added some new texts to the description, not sure when this happened exactly, but a few days ago they were definitely not there. I checked with FR, UK and US, but haven't found anything similar.

A lot of marketing rah-rah, but one very interesting detail (without typos...)

Erstmals in Forza Motorsport wird der Spieler zusätzlich durch Tag-Nacht-Zyklen und wechselnde Wettereinflüsse herausgefordert.

For the first time in Forza Motorsport, the player is also challenged by day-night cycles and changing weather conditions.

So that pretty much confirms real dynamic ToD and weather changes, right?

Taking it at face value, "alternation" could simply mean that tracks can be day or night, but that would mean "first time in FM" is wrong due to Forza 1. I think dynamic is the only possibility.

Sorry, my own crappy translation. It clearly says day-night-cycles. Combined with "changing weather condition" I think we gonna see the same stuff as in FH2.

With the new(?) marketing image it definitely looks pretty real. I'm glad they seemed to made the dynamic weather/ToD because for me it definitely adds a lot to the experience and hugely refreshing to the series (F5 whilst a launch title, felt a bit stagnant from what I've played and heard). Can't wait to see what they show at E3.

I seriously can't wait to see how this will run, night time shadows with rain and 24 cars on track. They've got to compromise SOMEthing to make it work at 60 right?

Why?

Forza 5 was built on a pre-launch SDK, without the 10% GPU reserve, without new efficiency brought by knowledge with the system, without the CPU reserve being lowered and without DX12.

Since then, they've helped develop one of the best looking games on Xbox One that's set in an open world with a 20+ mile draw distance with dynamic weather and dynamic TOD.

So Forza 5 was boned from the start pretty much. Hope this a return to form, though i hope they put more work into the career mode. Always thought it was lackluster and repetitive for the most part.

Forza Motorsport 2 to Forza Motorsport 3 doesn't even show this kind of difference because Forza Motorsport 2 wasn't even a launch time. In fact, they had two years with the Xbox 360 hardware before releasing FM2 and four years when they released FM3.

That is what I am thinking, something has to give in order to sustain all that and 1080p/60fps locked. We know one thing for sure, T10 will not compromise 60fps. I could be wrong, but T10 has always been able to squeeze a lot of performance out of the 360, just look at the progression the series had on 360. Perhaps, with all the newest tools, the freeing up of Xbox One resource hogs like the Kinect that it is just enough and more experience on the console that they are able to pull it off without making much compromise?

It just sounds all pretty exciting and at the same time far fetching, but T10 has blown my socks off before, so I am not going to discount anything until Dan tells us and shows us what they have been working on for the last 2+ years.

I believe they've already said Forza, Halo and Gears(the new Gears at least) are a no go for PC.

Hopefully the third Forza franchise they've been hinting at is on PC too.

A cross-play, cross-buy Forza would be awesome.

They're hinting at a third franchise? What do people think it will end up being?

Btw how trustworthy is this ICXM.net site? After the xbox.jp leak they said they reached out to MS and quoted them correcting the description error and confirming the game will be 1080/60.

PCars did it with 1.04, I have no doubt T10 can offer something similar.

Let's be optimistic now! :)

These are all very valid points, but I feel like T10 would want to go all-out, with proper water/weather effects and real dynamic shadows. I know the extra cars could be processed on the extra core and that there are SDK improvements, but I can't wrap my head around the fact that it's going to do all those combined, potentially at 1080p60.

I'm not trying to put down T10, I think they're one of the best devs around today, but I just can't fathom how it'll work.

Damnit.

FM5 or FH2 then? Please? Even a 360 title? pls?

Even if ICXM.net were full of crap it is still 1080 in the leak and 50 is bull as it would never work on US TVs so we know it's at least 60.

I know that no one here is purposely trying to put down Turn 10, but remember the GAF thread for Forza 5 and people wouldn't even believe the game was 1080p native?

Hey BADNED!

Nice to see ya!

:^)

There's likely going to be some compromises like every other console game. Maybe we'll have all these nice things but 2D crowds? Let's see tomorrow.

I don't doubt even for a second that Forza 6's day/sunny tracks will looks better than FM5 and still be 60fps, but the one I'm having trouble with is the particle effects from rain, dynamic shadows from night (and maybe headlights if they're adventurous) and 24 car packs all coming together. Now I know they have the optimisations of not having open world and all of the improvements to the Xbox since 2013, but it's still baffling.

I suppose it's all the more reason to be excited for tomorrow, finding out HOW they're going to achieve all that at 60fps. Knowing T10 they won't drop framerate but they might drop certain effects during the more stressful situations. I won't mind that and I hope they stay with their ethos of rock solid 60, but it'll still be interesting.

Agree. They wont go below 60fps and I don't think they will go below 1080p. It is all a bit interesting to increase the car count that much and then introduce these long wanted features but yet still maintain resolution and frame rate. Maybe AI cars are just square boxes with square wheels to make up for resources used elsewhere.
