Bloodborne Load Times are Getting Patched. Along with other performance optimisations

This and circle + L3 jump being omitted is really damn weird to me

There were some jumps I had some serious trouble making with circle in Dark Souls 2, that I finally could once I switched to L3. Dark Souls 1 was mostly OK. I hope there aren't any really annoying jumps in this game (which only makes the load times seem worse)...
 
I played DS1 and 2 on PC with near instantaneous loading, and this still doesn't bother me much.

I browse GAF on my phone for 30 seconds and it's done.

Not ideal. Not a deal breaker either.

I gotta say, though, I know nothing about programming, but I'm always baffled that in games, moving the player character back to the start and resetting enemies takes any time at all.
 
It's unplayable for me with these load times, and this is coming from someone who completed all three souls games.

I'm okay with dying over and over and over and over... but having to suffer through those load times every time I die is too much. I'll wait for the patch before playing again.
 
Well outside of load times and frame pacing, the performance is absolutely the stablest its ever been for a Souls game on console. Frame pacing is patch-able and seems like a minor fix from other games that have had it on PS4(like Diablo 3 and Need for speed rivals).

What's a bit more uncertain are the load times...but apparently those are reduced by 30 something percent with an SSD... (nice slayers avatar btw)

Oh, that's good to hear! The load times are definitely the biggest gripe out of those for me. Be as it may, I'm gonna be playing come saturday. Nice to hear that there is precedence for the frame pace fix. And yeah apparently the smug looking wolf man really captures my being so I stuck with it, and now I'm quite fond of it!
 
i think they should prioritize frame pacing and then focus on loading times. cant wait to get home and start my first playthrough though

a quick patch before the weekend to fix the frame pacing would be ideal. I can live with the load times but the constant stuttering is fucking terrible.

Unplayable? You don't "play" the loading screens. Sure, they absolutely could be far, far better, but if you can't wait 30-40 seconds between deaths, I think the bigger issue is with you. And that's coming from someone who completed all three souls games many times.

Definitely wish there was some lore on the loading screens. I just browse the bloodborne thread in between loads. As long as they're not mgs4 sandwich breaks I think I'll be okay

As I understand it. The game is essentially putting out duplicate frames or frames in the wrong order.

Its why the game seems to stutter even though the framerate doesnt drop.

Its a crappy bug.

30-40 second loading times are inexcusable in 2015. This isn't the psx anymore, these are decently speced machines with forced hdd installation to help prevent this type of shit in the first place.

The loading times after death are ridiculous in a gane where you are expected to die a lot!

The framepacing annoys me more though.

Frame pacing is just how often they show the same frame on screen refresh.
A 60 FPS games frames look like this:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

Basically this is how frame pacing should look like in the same game at 30 fps:

1 1 3 3 5 5 7 7 9 9

This is an example of what's happening with Bloodbornes frames:

1 1 1 3 5 5 7 7 7 9


Or at least that's how I understand it.

Ah, thanks. I did notice some slight stuttering here and there, nothing too major though. Could definitely live without it.

I'm not trying to excuse them, but I really hate the way the word unplayable is tossed around nowadays. Especially when the issue in question doesn't interfere with the actual gameplay in the first place.
 
Framepacing is priority #1.
Hope it doesn't take to long for them to patch it.

I hope so too, that shouldn't be a big fix or patch. They could roll it out as fast as possible and then continue working on the loading fix that's probably takes more time to optimize.

We are talking consoles not pc's
Not staying consistent 30 fps could be seen as 'inexcusable in 2015'
But I don't see pitchforks over that

The jump in gen wasn't -that- big.. Yeah this isn't the PSX days anymore, but the ps3 days were just yesterday

Sure, but that could change as we don't know how they're prioritizing and working internally on the upcoming updates/fixes. They might split up the fixes in two or more updates and send out fixes they get done first etc.

Stay positive and believe in FROM/SCE is what I'm trying to say I guess lol
 
Oh man this is so annoying, that you have to teleport to that hub area to level up. So load to get there, spend couple seconds to level up and then go back... I don't get it. Why can't I just level up like I did in DS1.
 
After 12+ hours with the game yesterday, yeah they are long, but they aren't game breaking. I find the lack of anything interesting on the load screens more annoying.

Also I hate how when I die after an intense battle, it basically smash cuts to the loading screen with that basically impact font saying BLOODBORNE. It's so jarring. It makes me think of the stupid mods that change you died to THANKS OBAMA.

I'd rather the loading screen be all black then after a second the loading indicator and other text fades/pops into view, way less jarring this way.

Yeah I noticed this the other day when playing. Was wondering what the hell I was going on.
I hope the patch for that and load times hit by the time I wrap up type 0.
 
Load times are really long.
Last console game was dark souls 2 and the loadtimes there didn't bother me at all.
But here?..
 
Load times need to be their priority and I might even upgrade to an SSD to get another slight edge.

I probably lost a good chunk of playtime considering how often I died. Not to mention you cant warp from any lantern to any other. (have to go to hub first)

There is plenty of room for improvement and honestly this flaw is so obvious I cant help but think they have known the whole time and are just going with it till they can improve it

The amount of data being moved is so much greater than the PSX days.
 
I don't like load times but if they have to be there at least give us some useful information to read or something interesting to look at.
 
40 seconds seems a lot really. Hopefully they can reduce at least 10 to 15 seconds, what would still be quite a long but more bearable.
 
I'm loving the game, but it's just me or the game is kinda ugly?
I mean it, I find the art awesome, but the IQ is so terrible that everything that is a little bit far from my character shakes a lot. It remembers me Final Fantasy X!

Well, it's a minor problem. What they really should fix is the loading and the framepacing.
 
I don't actually have any issues with the time it takes to load. would it be better if it was instant? Yes, of course it would but I'm surprised such an issue has been made of the loading times in some places.

It's probably the fact that they don't give you anything to occupy yourself with that exacerbates the issue. Reading item descriptions in the Souls games takes your mind off the "waiting".

Seems like a really weird oversight and bad design decision to use a black screen with a logo if you know that your load times are already shit.

Oh man this is so annoying, that you have to teleport to that hub area to level up. So load to get there, spend couple seconds to level up and then go back... I don't get it. Why can't I just level up like I did in DS1.
Now reading stuff like this just makes me sad. I know it's their first game on the current generation, but there's no good reason to repeat the design mistakes of the past when the series had already improved on that in the past.

I'll play the game on Saturday and will try to find a good explanation for that design decision that maybe doesn't come across in these posts. I generally have a lot of respect for the designers at From so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I see for myself.

The inconvenience of having to warp to Majula and back to level up in DS2 was already criticised by many and it was only tolerable for me because it literally only took two seconds to load (on PC). Baffling stuff.

This. Without the item descriptions to occupy my thoughts all I want to do is get back to the game and try again. But I have to sit there for 30 seconds staring at the title. I only invested an hour into the game last night before just turning it off because I felt I was staring at loading screens more than being engaged in something. I absolutely love the soul series but in a game built for the player to die over and over they need to either reduce the loading times or implement some sort of distraction away from them. Until then I can't really play the game as it feels like my time is being wasted.

Edit: Has anyone tried the game with an SSD, and if so what are the load times like? I'll buy a new drive now if I can get word that it helps.

Edit2: Seems other posters are reporting that SSD doesn't really cut much on the load times. Guess I wait for the patch.

Kind of disturbing to hear about the framerate issues. Was hoping we could at least attain a staple 30fps with no dips. Oh well, just like Dark Souls then on the xbox 360 was then!

Looking forward to getting my copy. Just waiting on this mail to show up
 
Good,good...load times dont bother me that much,it relaxes my frustration a bit,you know,breath in breath out,roll sleeves lol, but the framerate in some area's is pretty bad...this needs more attention.
