Bloodborne Press Preview Impressions (16/03/2015)

The real reason Uncharted 4 is delayed.

Brainstorming the next idea already...

That delay sure did do wonders. ;)

if companies did "on second thought" reviews DriveClub would get a better review based on the fixes & additions

I think the issue with that logic is that they still charged you 60$ for the game on day 1, so they don't deserve a "second chance" review. If the would charge you 30$ on day 1 because they know it's half broken, and then they charge you the other 30$ when it's fully functional several months later, then a "second chance" review could work.

Embargo being lifted so close to launch could work wonders for this game.

I wonder how many people are going to impulse buy the game after a tsunami of great scores are released on the internet.

That makes *no* sense.

Shall we get back to Bloodborne?

I think this whole ordeal kind of proves that we should ALL be using a 24-hour clock instead of this 12 and 12 nonsense :p

I agree that there was no excuse for the condition the game shipped in. I was just saying if companies did that it would be scored differently. I'm not giving them a pass for the launch even though I liked it from the start.

A lot of the DC reviews didn't cover the online issues because online was fine pre launch. But there was a lot of BS about the handling being ba, it not being open world or having a racing line.

-Penalty system (countdown and slowdown)
-Some close invisible walls
-Only EU cars
-No individual car livery customisation
-Music a bit rinse repeat for my liking

Still it's a solid 8/10 for me.

It's getting to the point where I no longer expect PS4 exclusives to score well. They've all been trashed so bad since the console launched (aside from a few indie titles) that these days I just expect the hate to pile up from the usual suspects.

If I could put my tinfoil hat back on, it's sad that I truly believe had Bloodborne been multiplat, it would score higher than as a PS4 exclusive. This is some alternate universe bullshit of course, but it's just the way this gen seems to be going. But yet somehow PS4 hardware remains this unstoppable train lol.

/Tinfoil hat off. I hope this scores well. 85-90 average would be fair, 90+ being a modern day miracle.

Wait, what are you referring to?

Infamos: SS is a solid 80: http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/infamous-second-son

Driveclub deserves it's ~71 average. It launched with major issues.

TLOU:R is a 95 on metacritic: http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/the-last-of-us-remastered

LBP3 is a well-deserved 79 : http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/littlebigplanet-3

If you mean The Order, it absolutely deserved the reviews it got. Absolutely.

I know that though. I have Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, having beaten neither but I'm not done with those games either. Hopefully I will get sucked into the world and atmosphere and be up for the challenge.

Well I hope you do get sucked in! The Souls games are some hard loving. Just gotta give them a chance to show you what they're really made of. Hopefully loading screen issues are somewhat mitigated with the more powerful hardware in the PS4 (albeit hard drive speeds are as slow as ever).

Also, things are heating up as the West Coast wakes up. LET'S GO HYPE.

I didn't order from them for this, but they tend to be excellent.

I see. When do they usually post? I used to use GAME for preorders because they always posted on Tuesdays and the games arrived on Thursday. Didn't use them this time because of that bullshit £50 price.

Forgot Knack. That game's scores are criminal

Not many outlets re-reviewed it. It was pretty bad at launch. Master Chief Collection didn't get many re-reviews either so it's not a conspiracy.

Difference is that as broken MCC was (up until the last patch) it got a bunch of 9 and 10's and getting jerked off by every reviewer out there, all on name alone. When the dust settled, pretty sure everyone can agree that driveclub deserved a little higher score (seeing as it got fixed faster) and MCC needed a lower score.

MCC was a broken mess that should never have released in the condition it was. It should have been absolutely destroyed in reviews. This is coming from someone who had a good time replaying the campaigns. It was unacceptable.

No, everyone can not agree that driveclub deserved a higher score. Only the people that went out on day one and already knew they loved it before playing it think that.

It was unfair that Driveclub was slammed for being broken in many ways, but MCC wasn't. There is nothing unfair about people not liking the driving model or the severe lack of features in a racing game in 2014. Games get reviewed when they are being sold, not six months later when bleeding edge next gen features like replays are added to a racing game.

I'm just tired of the reactions when a PS4 exclusive doesn't get the best reviews ever.

I really hope Bloodborne is good and I'm getting it regardless of review scores unless somehow it absolutely bombs. I don't really see that happening.

Good lord the ps4 exclusive metascore whining is so tiresome. I couldn't care less about reviews in the case of bloodborne but I'd bet my right lung that it gets 85+. Chill

People still putting stock in reviews, especially with this game, seem to just be looking for a reason to bitch in a few days. Day one reviews mean nothing, I'm more interested in the post release critiques not some guy who never played a souls game who dings it for being hard or obtuse or mainstream.

Can't really trust any major reviews anyway as outside of the press event (which I have no indication if it was even available there) no one has had access to the online portion of the game and any score prior to that will seem incomplete as the newbies probably can't summon bro to scum their way through.

Driveclub was chastised in the Eurogamer review because it was not open world like fh2, and on giant bomb because gerstmann was too dumb to find how to change a cars colour he said there was no customization. You really believe that the scores it got were not lower because of shit like that?

What ps4 exclusives do you think were scored unfairly?

DriveClub. It was panned to no extent and basically destroyed in reviews for its technical problems. Other games like Battlefield 4 or Halo MCC never got the same treatment even though they had equally bad or worse issues.

"Manche Studios sollten sich ein Beispiel an From Software und #Bloodborne nehmen. Konstant geile Spiele abliefern, dann drehen Leute durch."

No, Jeff Gerstmann was not too dumb to find out how to change the colors of the cars. He just didn't consider that to be meaningful customization.

This is me, but I am still betting that it will be generally well received by the press. Just like the other games. It's just so easy to see after watching enough footage.

Has anyone that has the game experimented with all 3 of the starting weapons? Really struggling with what to go with first. Is the Axe that much slower than the Saw Cleaver? I like the speed of the cleaver, but the range on the Axe looks to be a lot better.

Theres no ps4 review conspiracy guys.

For real. It's just people's opinions. If the games don't resonate with them, then they don't resonate with them. It doesn't mean a damn thing in regards to what enjoyment you may get out of the games.
