Project CARS delayed again to mid-May

Delaying again like this shows a measure of incompetence, which is troubling. Delays happen in the industry, but if you have to set a new date three times over the course of six months...

I completely agree, was just pointing it out. The past delay already seemed iffy to me since its been in ddevelopment/ early access for ages.

What a shitty day of delays. Great so mid May, not like there's a giant WRPG coming out in mid May as well that'll take insane amounts of time from gamers.

This is a blessing for me:

FF Type 0
BloodBorne
MLB 15: The Show
Xenoblade 3DS

And ProjectCars was coming out smack dab in the middle of it all.

They can take that extra month.

I don't think they understand the concept of a release date... or the scope of the game they're trying to release even though they are made up a lot of veterans.

Well that's a bad time to be delayed too haha. They should almost delay it again to July just so it's out of the way of some heavy hitters.

Yeah, whatever interest I had in this is pretty much gone. DriveClub has me pretty satisfied, and by that point I'll be able to hold out a few more months until Forza.

I always got a vibe from this game that they were promising way too much. Not sure why but it is the way I feel.

I hope I am wrong.

I am fine with the delay if it makes the game better. I have always been of the mind set that rushed games (or anything really) are bad.

Disappointing, but if they need time, they need time. DRIVECLUB makes the wait much easier, even if they are different types of racers.

The last delay thread was all; "take all the time you need guys! As long as it's great!"

The mood sure changed quickly.

People are hypocrites.

From reading threads like this I'm sure people would rather bitch and moan about an unfinished/broken game these days.

Isn't this the fourth release date this game has had though? I know SMS aren't a big studio and the way this game has been developed has been pretty unique, but it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence when games are delayed again and again.

Makes me wonder why they never opened it to early access. I know they have original backers playing but I thought that would happen at some point.

The more it gets delayed, the more it looks like it will be a Steam sale purchase.

Agreed. They should have released it on PC first and then focused on the consoles in the months following.

Jesus christ, feels like we are hearing about a delay every month for Project CARS. I wonder if anyone is gonna start losing interest.

One delay I can understand, but multiple delays every time they get close to a "release"? That's a sign of a dev team that doesn't know what it is doing.

I'm going to take this game off of my "buy list".

I didn't expect Uncharted to be delayed tbh, but PCARS delay I could see coming.
Things were too quiet with such a close release date

The devs are definitely competent. There must be something they suddenly noticed wrong with the game, because as far as I'm concerned they could release it now and it'd be great. It's felt that way since like September, it feels very finished and polished to play.

Are you playing on PC?

As far as I know it's the console versions causing issues.

I'm all for it being delayed to be a better game but Studios need to learn when to give release dates. If you're not sure then don't give a date, better yet give a date when it's done and then spend a couple of months polishing/bug testing it to make it spot on. I understand how this might not be feasible with small indies working on ultra tight budgets but multi-million dollar games should be able to do this.

Oh man can't believe it again? Gutted to read earlier that us who helped with the project will only be supplied PC codes and nothing for consoles.

Could it be anything related to DX12 and they want to achieve the best performance?

Fine with me if it means the game will come out pretty much bug free.

I know it will cause disappointment for some but I'd rather it's released when it's ready.

what in the world!? i mean, it'll be a better game for it, but why couldn't they see this coming and make a lengthy delay to begin with rather then a series of small delays that they couldnt make?

ugh.

still very much looking forward to this. we better not see another delay though.

Does not affect me - I've switched to 'when it's ready' mode with pCARS.

I suppose it's better then releasing the game unfinished, i have plenty of other games to tide me over till release anyway.

There better not be any fucking bugs in this game when it launches after all this. There's plenty of room for delaying a game on the calendar for a myriad of reasons, but when you emphasize how close it is to being finished (.1% from being perfected? Lolol) despite delaying it fucking half a dozen times, you'd better back that reasoning up at launch... whenever that might be at this point.

Also, a solid chuckle from "hey guys, cut something cool out of the game so we can package it as "special DLC" for people to make up for the delay" instead of using their fucking resources to do what they've been trying to do since last year, i.e. launch their fucking game.
