Oh really?
Why did they cover Gabes face?![]()
The pic speak for itself.
Just not true. I didn't know I wanted a PC til I gave it a proper look. I'd always just dismissed it for the various bullshit reasons that a lot of people do and it took me digging a bit more before getting over that and of course after owning a gaming PC for a while, I realized just what I was missing before. There's many things in life that we don't specifically know we want beforehand, but are super happy to have once we do.
That said, if the guy has lost interest in 'traditional' gaming, I don't think its worth spending much effort trying to convince him back in.

This cult of gaben led to so much initial disappointment. The Amazon sales were frequently better and the discounts haven't been quite impressive as everyone makes.
Thank god he's more open minded.
Honestly the last couple of steam sales haven't been so great.

Stupid is the wrong word. Sheep, yes
Best of luck, but I just don't see a scenario where someone satisfied with mobile games will appreciate the value of a good PC. In general, PC gaming is for the enthusiasts who want the most out of their experience. Mobile games are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum outside of a few unique titles.
Well PC gaming is better than console gaming and much better than mobile gaming. You'd be doing him a huge favor. Good luck OP.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. You can't convinve anyone to be a PC gamer, they see it how they see it
What people don't understand is that the Wii U + PC combo is the best, and if you try and say something like, "All you're doing is playing multiplatform titles on a gimped platform." They're just going to call you an elitist and move on, even though that in itself, whether they know it or not, is basically telling you that you're on the superior platform.
Thank god he's more open minded.

Pc's, mods, and upgradeability are unattractive at first glance to a consumer in the current market IMO
You can't be serious.
Those hackers can be found very rarely on CSGO, good thing is that the anti hack system for CSGO is good and constantly improving. What games do you play?
Thank god he's more open minded.
You sir are a true hero. Thanks for this.Right, I made this for you.

Fixed = D
If you care about graphics what I said is true. The technology that pc introduces also allows for larger more exciting games.Man, this is the sort of stuff that's pretty toxic.
Also the condescending attitude of mobile games not being real games.
This reminds me of that OT thread where OP was talking about playing Nintendo games in front of some girl or something.
Anyways, I thought you were going to say something different in regards to the difficulty involved in convincing someone to switch to PC.
It's difficult to tell someone why they should do something that will be better for them in the long run without telling them the positives about it.
Absolutely hate wherever this PC elitist hatred came from. Probably someone who never owned Legos as a kid and accidentally his entire computer while trying to build it.
Edit: I moved over to PC gaming because I was tired of having to repeatedly send Microsoft my Xbox 360 for repairs and buying entire replacement consoles rather than just parts to replace broken parts, all my IRL friends stopped playing on Xbox Live, and because Bungie started to suck.
Ended up replacing my 60hz monitor with a 144hz monitor recently when I went over to a friend's house and saw Wildstar at a glorious 120fps and needed it.
I've been avoiding visiting my friend who has a G-sync monitor.
I just can't imagine where the PC elitist hatred comes fromIt's difficult to tell someone why they should do something that will be better for them in the long run without telling them the positives about it.

Just the sheer wealth of amazing creativity in pc game development alone is why no serious gamer should ever be without one. At least a laptop for some of the indies or something.
Show him games he would like. I find playing Civ with someone has like a 99% success rate for them wanting to play more.
That thread title, man. "Convincing someone to be a PC gamer"
You make it sound like the PS3 had maxed out graphics lol. The PS3 is arguably the worst console from the past 15 years. It was extremely overpriced, the controller was meh and the system/service itself was a mess. The only good thing about it was the Japanese support. And not everyone is into those type of games. Its not surprising at all that a PS3 only owner from last gen would give up on console gaming all together and move to mobile. Especially considering how big mobile has gotten in recent years. Android and IOS didn't even exist when the PS3 first released. Look at them now.
.
99% of gamers don't give 2 shits about playing in 4k at 120fps with draw distance cranked up.
He doesn't like what you like...this is like telling a girl who dumped you why she shouldn't have. Let it go man. If something PC gaming related catches his fancy, he'll hop in. But mobile and console gaming is just an easier experience, a more comfortable experience, a more accessible experience..and for many THAT is what makes a better experience, not all the performance aspects.
PC is the king of tech, but sometimes its more fun to play with the commoners.
Going by OP's later posts that's exactly what he's doing, casual conversation about gaming and the benefits of PCs led to him inviting his friend over to check it out, who accepted and seems interested. The title makes it sound a bit dogmatic but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.You can make a case for all the things you really like about PC gaming to see if any of that resonates with someone, but trying to "convince" them to like what you like is always a losing battle because of how quickly it can transition from "Hey man, you should check out all this neat stuff" to simply badgering them.
So yeah, feel free to bring it up once or twice in an appropriate context, but don't press the issue. If they're not interested now, you're probably just going to sour them on it. If they become interested later, they'll know who to ask.
<snipped for space and only quoted so people know who I'm responding to>
I disagree, most people aren't benchmarking their machine to get the best settings. They are playing games with settings better than what you can get on console for sure, but they aren't wading into .ini files. That's for the minority.
I don't see why so many posters here are so against sharing your hobbies/passions with friends and such.
I don't want to have to worry about if this game will work on my computer or not. I like with consoles that if I buy it for that console, it will work on that console. And if it doesn't work near as well as they claim, reviews will slam them for it.
I like playing on my TV and I don't like playing on my computer (because I get distracted by internet and other such stuff and it kills immersion for me). The console has much better interface for a screen that you aren't sitting right next to honestly.
Also, I'm not stuck to going with Windows for my computer. A console is a cheap extra to make up for the fact I like Mac (and I think we all can agree macs are not a superior gaming computer).
Yes, there are some games better on keyboard than controller (*cough* flight sim *cough*). But for me the big ones just aren't around anymore (Flight sims).
I honestly don't miss worrying on if my graphics card is right for the game or figuring out if my graphics card is as good as what they claim (especially when these days you have to know graphics card tech to know what each name means.... Can't just go this graphics card has a higher number than this one).
I'm fine with graphics as long as they are good enough. Yeah, shinier graphics are neat but I'm more interested in convenience/couch play.
I'm not saying PCs aren't better for games. I'm saying for me, a console is more the right place. Oh, and that I'm not stupid because I am willing to make some sacrficies for other priorities that aren't on your radar. I just want something different out of gaming (and that's what pisses me off about PC elitists, this attitude that you're stupid unless you agree with them that everyone must go PC). Hell, I'm not even unaware of the benefits of PC, I just choose console for my own personal reasons. What I want and you want are not going to be the same. We're different people.
