I know right? It's great. Pegasus is one of my favorite characters ever.

I love me my crazy characters but he's just nonsensical, I'm on 125 right now and planning to finish it by tonight to get it over with. Gourmet would be more up my alley cause he also has awesome catchphrases and exaggerates all of his moments of triumph or desire.

The fact that the newest Tales game may have tarnished the brand in Japan and will forever be known as the one with the missing waifu, is hysterical.

uhhh, no, lol

The biggest Tales fans (that ones that buys the expensive merchandise and go to their events to buy their expensive merchandise) is primarily female. They don't care about some boring waifu.

It's times like this where I wish everyone would just die and the manga would end.

Course the real fans of the franchise won't give two shits about the issue.

But you can't deny that damage control, dakku.

Now that you've said this, I'm imagining Doujima pulling strings in order to drag Soma further into Erina's orbit (or vice-versa). There will be some shounenesque reason, like Erina's talent will eventually stagnate without someone around to annoy challenge her.

I think Erina is like an Akame situation where the author introduces, but has trouble integrating, a character into the story.

It takes random contrivances for them to even meet, let alone have Erina actually progress as a character.

Yeah, Erina doesn't actually have any reason to have anything to do with him.
Well, she has a crush on his dad, but she doesn't know they're related yet.

Ok Dragons Rioting is actually pretty bad back to TLR

It's better than TLR, worse than TLRD. At least Dragons Rioting makes me laugh.

Alice in Borderland 18-19

Surprisingly fast enacting of the plan. Wasn't really prepared for how fast it was done.

But the other dreaded part of 'beach' type survival game arcs has reared it's ugly head at the end of ch19.

Alice in Borderland is very fast paced and serialized in conjunction with multiple spin off stories in another magazine. I love Chishiya, there's a 5 chapters spin off that details his first game. It was hilarious how he sees his competition as nothing but circus monkeys.

What's with the sudden flood of Assassination Classroom chapters? Are we that far behind?

Just look at the character polls that happen every year at Tales Festival. Yuri and Leon are absent because they won so many times that they just put them in a Hall of Fame.

ludger is number one

are you fucking kidding me

I bought 2 2.00 Manga's, it was a big mistake. They were woof.

One was *Those who Hunt Elves*

The other was Kagerou-Nostalgia....which while being labeled as Number 1 is actually in the middle of the story for no other reason because the author was feeling cheeky. Making it pretty much unreadable for me.

For another thread, but Ludger figure where?

ludger is number one

The newest game's main character almost always gets a large boost in popularity. And with the two kings, Yuri and Leon out of the running, Ludger wins. (for good measure)

Watch Slay take the crown this year. (for good measure again)

I think we're like 7 or 8 still.

Wooow

Well, I'm quite enjoying the current arc, so I'm not complaining.

I figured as much, but it's like man

why ludger

At least it's not Emil, I guess.

Good luck

While there wasn't really a single bad new character introduced in this training arc.

If there's one character who shined more than any other, it was Bokuto.

Can't wait for when he appears again.

It's not surprising Japan's bad taste strike again in the Tales series.

Besides voting for Yuri anyway.

Toyohisa is really best protag.

Besides that I'm still enjoying like every character. Looking forward to Toyohisa taking over the world as Nobunaga schemes from the shadows.

Yup. I always said this for the Tales franchise. The guys buy the games, the girls buy the merchandise. That's the way it's always been.

Oyasumi Punpun Completed

Well that manga was an interesting roller coaster to say the least. Maybe a lot of themes flew over my head since I'm still 23 and have much to learn but I learned more about myself and about others around me. Through the halfway point, the manga started to feel like a biography when
the MC is see's the possibly MC for his lover's manga
which solidified it even more for me.

Now to get into the nitty gritty. Ever since the beginning,
I asked myself, why the hell would you use a bird-like thing as a character?
The more I looked for an answer as I read, the less it made sense until I gave up and read it until the end. Then I finally understood, its not supposed to make sense or the author somehow made it so that the
bird is suppose to an allegory for humans, being trapped in a cage for life, confused as to what they have to do throughout life and all that jazz.
The whole deal with
that weird god of his who looked like some japanese guy with an afro
was possibly
his own superego all along and he himself was the ego that came from the id.

For those of you who don't know, popular Freudian psychology (most of it is archaic nowadays) had a popular belief that the brain was separated into three parts (its still used nowadays, just not as heavily), the superego, which was our inner most desires untamed, the ego, which was our desires tempered/controlled and our id, what actually funneled and controlled the superego's response. I'm pretty sure everyone here has had an instance of wanting to do something violent/sketchy/hypocritical/mean at some point in their life's but didn't because the id was there to stop them. The constant struggle of balancing your desires and mental stability was troubling to say the least for the protagonist and I honestly believed some from of
bipolar depression runs in the family since the mother, uncle and son all act in haphazard
manners when cornered.

Aside from that digression and lecture on psychology, the overall story was good, not amazing and some of it was predictable. However, it still had some level of impact that left me thinking: By god, I can somehow relate to this bastard! Its shocking yes (sarcastically speaking). Although, we have to realize we all have sexual urges that want to be pleased but we hold ourselves back. We have people we are jealous of and want to hurt. There are moments in our life where we believe the only way out of an issue is through inflicting ourselves with pain to escape from reality or even to the point of suicide. This is why we are so attached to the story, its because we were once, are, or will be in his position somewhere down the road of life. Maybe not as dramatically or violently (hopefully), but emotionally. An interesting theory I'd like to have is to say that the weird hippy guy
was all along narrating the life for our MC, yes the MC. I don't have any other reasons as to why the guy would be in the story otherwise, maybe as an enhancer to the story? lol doubt that.
Also, I felt like Aiko was the real victim throughout this entire story, even though the author never bothered to fully develop her. The tools were right there to do it but it was executed poorly. She was still one of my favorite characters,
sucks that she committed suicide due to her own guilt, she could have gotten on probation just like Punpun due to her situation
Other than that, the ending was neither good or bad, its reality. Reality has a lot more gray than white or black in it than we want to realize and this shows that. We are a slave to our emotions and we honestly can't help it sometimes, but through the power of communicating with others, it can be maintained and make life livable for those out there who say otherwise. Lastly, to talk back on the ending, time is a never ending cycle that constantly repeats itself, people making the same mistakes, falling in love, hurting people, etc. I think this was the hippy's message, that time is doomed to repeat itself and allow tragedies like these occur again and again without anyone doing anything to stop it. If you were to ask me my opinion on the ending, (I'm looking at both you Zweizer and Uso), I'd say the ending was on a somber yet delightful note. Life has its ups and downs, but there'll reach a time when you start to live life through the experiences and tribulations you've overcome and start to enjoy it, hence becoming an adult, in my opinion.

P.S.

I found it kind of interesting how through the perspective of the MC, the adults become less neurotic and more approachable, showing as he matured, he began to understand adults more and more.

I never really thought as Aiko as a victim past her situation with her mother and being just as broken as Punpun himself. She was a person with flaws, and the reason why we never got to see more of her true self past the 30 chapters she and Punpun were on the run was because she wasn't a real person up to that point. She was an idol, perfection that Punpun could not have.

I agree on the most part, it could've have been executed a little better. The whole manga is starting to affect me after getting some time to collect my thoughts... Holy hell that was one crazy experience... I need someone to hold me ;_;

they both were each other's idols. Pun Pun his entire adulthood held her as the epitome of his desires. And Aiko, upon finally finding Pun Pun immediately saw him as her savior. her knight in shining armor. An anchor to which she could latch onto to get her out of her miserable life. When they finally meet, they both lie and put on an appearance which only serves to solidify each other's erroneous views of one another. but as they peeled back the layers, they discover the truth. Both are broken. And both trying to rely on a broken person.

They looked to each other to save themselves, but what they expected to be a superhero was a normal, unhinged human shackled by their environment. it was a bad case of the blind leading the blind, where every roadblock they met only further augmented their worsening situation.

In the end, Aiko realized that they were always going to be on the run. they were both each other's shackles to a bad life. So, in an effort to break the cycle and to remove the shackle she has become on the one person she loves the most, she committed suicide. It was the only way she saw to save Pun Pun.

I agree on the most part, it could've have been executed a little better. The whole manga is starting to affect me after getting some time to collect my thoughts... Holy hell that was one crazy experience... I need someone to hold me ;_;

Read some Angel Densetsu. The art is fucking atrocious and hard to follow, but it's light hearted and i find a nice soul-bleach after something like Pun Pun

I lean more towards RockTurtle's interpretation. Especially the part where Akio
commit suicide for Punpun instead of her guilt.

Reekkkkttt.

I actually like the older protagonist, it's a cool concept that he's never had to fight a day in his life and now is learning how to be a hero this late in life so he can use his powers to help.
