What if this time the characters actually become their personas in battle? Kinda like

and the masks are just a template on which the persona gets applied to.

Wouldn't be opposed to it. Especially if it has a cool animation for putting them on like Majora's Mask.

This Phantom is giving serious JOKER vibes. Me gusta.

I really wonder if they're still going with turn-based battles, and if yes, how they're going to adapt it to HD visuals.

We haven't seen a lot of HD turn-based RPGs and the "static" feel does not really gel well with modern graphics.

Ni No Kuni did it well, from what I've seen. Looks dynamic yet still turn based (so I've heard?)

And maybe even have different skills based on whether or not characters currently are their Persona, just like transforming into a demon in Digital Devil Saga.

Here is what Persona 3 was supposed to look like(they cut it due to PS2s limitations). I think we'll get something similar for P5.

That doesn't make much sense considering the fighting games are entirely based on the mainline games, unless you mean that you don't want the mainline specifically drawing aspects (i.e characters) from the fighting games. I doubt its Sho anyway.

That's what I mean. Of course the games have everything to do with the mainline series as it continues the story of both 3 and 4 but like you said, I don't want them drawing from the fighting games or any spin offs for that matter. I want everything in Persona 5's story to be completely new and unique besides maybe a cameo or two like Persona 4 did with Gekkoukan High and Chihiro.

I think combat will look just like P4 and P3. If it's not broken yadda yadda.

That would be a terrible idea for one reason: Mara

Who the hell would want to put on a Mara Mask?

Eh, I hope sho isn't in P5. Not that he was a bad character or anything but I don't really want the mainline series to have anything to do with the fighting game.
Except the P4A games already are connected to the main series, much like P4D will be. Furthermore, rather positive that isn't Sho anyway (if anything, the haircut looks like the P5 MC's).

It's going to be turn-based. Action is not their forte, they know as much, and P5 is certainly not the game in which they should try to change that.

Someone probably said this already (I just skimmed through the comments), but I think it is the "shadow" of this game. The pose and expression reminds me too much of them.

Anyway, cool, this is already more than I expected from the stream.

Hype!

I always thought that while they have made an effort to tie these side spin off stuff into the overall world/main story, they still functioned like a spin off Omake. Like even Person Q, makes it so all of it takes place in a way that works within THAT time period.

I don't think I would like main series tittles continuing that directly w/ repeat characters being heavily in the plot. I would be okay with little tie ins etc. But I hope they leave the spin off stuff as it is. I mean, it works for what it is (how they integrated it all together). And that's great. But eh.

BTW I love love love your avatar. I love that game/character so much. :)

Lol wut? Different eye color, different hair color and the face is barely visible because of the mask, but he looks exactly like him. OK.
It's probably him because it would be strange for them to use a character we haven't seen before, not because it looks like him.

His facial structure obviously. His eyes are red because he's taken a different form.

the next-event countdown and the EST time frame don't seem to match up...

when should I expect p5 related stuff to happen?

What? Everything in the schedule matches up 100%.

3 hours and 5 minutes from now is 10:30 PM EST. How does that not match up?

And your question is answered in the OP.

It worked fine in FFXIII, partly because the characters aren't static but moving around.

I'm well aware that they are connected... It is a spin off after all and it wouldn't be a Persona game if it wasn't connected. Not to mention that I've played and beaten both games. I explained what I meant a little higher up. It just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. It doesn't mean that I wouldn't buy or enjoy the game though.

Obviously Atlus is now retooling P5 so that it stars Marie as retaliation for her low fan rating. Hey, it (didn't) work for Lightning!

I really don't think any of the spin-offs will have any effect on P5. I do think it'd be neat if a character from a past game was a main party member in P5, but I'd want it to be someone who was secondary before (like an S-Link only character).

Atlus might do a spin off Action RPG for P5 (or maybe even a musou) but I don't see them switching to ARPG for the mainline games.

Oh... I thought it was layed out by hour blocs. They have 9:40 AM right next to 10:30 PM. Was reading them both as PM.

Didn't Japan love Lighting? I remember reading that some where but I can't recall where. It's kind of weird if you think about it cause the western world despised her and everything that had to do with 13.

That's most likely how they'll continue to operate, with games like P4A/P4D/PQ being more along the lines of supplementary material. Meanwhile, entirely new additions such as P5 will likely continue to get to be their own thing before much emphasis is placed on incorporating what came before it/building on the universe at large.

Thanks. Would be nice to see Zero Escape concluded some day. Yours reminds me that I still need to get around to picking up FE:A (I still only have the demo).

Fair enough, I get what you're saying (and yeah, I want the same thing for P5, especially since P3 and P4 also had the chance to develop their own stories without events from previous games being the primary focus). Sorry for the earlier misinterpretation.

Oh man, my internet is acting up super hard >.>

Please keep taking screenshots from the stream and post them here, I might not be able to watch it D=
