The entire time I played Catherine, I kept thinking about how awesome it would be when P5 came out using its graphics engine. I didn't expect it to be so long that we'd be into a new console generation, though. If it doesn't end up looking at least as good as Catherine, that would be so disappointing.

Actually, when you get down to it, P3/4 weren't that big in scope in comparison to your typical RPG. Only one town & the dungeons were mostly randomly generated. Most of the length comes via the visual novel elements & random battles which aren't that asset heavy (well, combat is, but there tends to be a lot of enemy & ability reuse between Atlus RPGs). I could totally see them pulling off something along the lines of Catherine for the whole game, especially given how long P5's been in development.

Persona 5 never run on the Catherine engine (which is gamebryo btw) AFAIK. It was always going to have its own.

I'm not saying it will be a great looking PS4 game, I'm saying there's a standard that needs to be met for it to be acceptable as a PS4 game and I don't expect that bar to be lower than visuals on par with Catherine.

Considering how they announced the PS4 version later along the line though...I personally think it's going to be the equivalent of what PS2 HD upgrades were on PS3. I don't think it's going to be PS3 to PS4 remaster levels of improvement nor like the difference between MGS5's versions.

That doesn't make much sense considering the fighting games are entirely based on the mainline games, unless you mean that you don't want the mainline specifically drawing aspects (i.e characters) from the fighting games. I doubt its Sho anyway.

I hope they do. The press turn battle system is one of my favorite parts of the PS2 SMT and Persona games. I consider them essential.
