My desktop looked brighter and more vibrant too after upgrading from 660ti to 970.
I wouldn't say mine is more vibrant, it's less vibrant. But it could be a transient bug or something, and I should recalibrate the monitor anyway.

Still waiting for Strix 980s to come back in stock.. Sigh

Count me in as another person who's been able to receive the Nvidia/Ubisoft promotion retroactively from Newegg, via their online chat. I had purchased my Gigabyte 970 on September 19, and getting the free game promotion was quick and painless. Grabbed Far Cry 4 with it.

Gtx 970 8gb coming out soon? Feel like that's the only decent upgrade from a 770 4gb.
Anybody?
Anybody?
Checking on the Terms and Conditions of this promotional offer, I can see that this promotional offer from the manufacturer started just this Nov 4th while your order was placed on Sep 25th.
I would suggest contacting the manufacturer as they might be able to provide you with the code for their promotional offer. Here's their contact information:

I got two G1's and they've been great. They're really long cards, tho. I think 12in??
Edit: looks like you linked the "overclocked" version. I haven't heard much about that one, I'm afraid.
Has Nvidia fixed the full/limited range thing yet? Or will I need to run Durante's program again?

There was word from uk retailer Overclockers that there's no refresh planned due to GDDR5 shortages - every 8GB version would basically surmount to 2 970's nvidia could have sold.
I posted the link a few days back, but this reasoning was backed up by AMD partners just releasing the 290X 8GB at a 60% price increase over the same 4GB card.
"Thank you for waiting. I checked that the promotion starts on 11/ 04 and your order was placed on 9/21 so it is not eligible for the gift item. However, I can create an order for this gift item as an exception since you are our valued customer. Would you please verify your current shipping address and your email address first?"
Something is off with my gamma I think... desktop colors/black levels look different than they did on Intel GPU. It's brighter or washed out.
so FC4 or AC:U
help me chose guys
Any idea why Sony seemingly hasn't been impacted by the shortages with the ps4?

Is it a monitor or a television?
Connecting via hdmi?
I had exactly the same problem. Downloading the Durante RGB fix thing did the trick though.
Say, do we know how much longer the 'Pick Your Path' promotion is going to run? Surely until at least the end of Nov., right?
Just ordered the Strix off Amazon for $350. Any reason not to get this card?
Try setting up a fan curve in MSI Afterburner. Settings > Fan > check the box saying "Enable user defined fan control". Apply settings. See if that does anything.
Odd. I had the same issue as you but a fan curve immediately started the red fan up which also slowed the black fan down.I did this today and I don't think it helped. Fans still keep spinning up for a second and then stop.
Interestingly, during PC boot I was watching the fans and one of them was spinning but the other seemed to be trying to spin but unable to, I gave it a nudge with my finger and it's been spinning in unison with the other one since then.
Downloading the 344.16 drivers now which supposedly don't have this problem.
I manually set them to keep spinning at 25% for now. I prefer that over having them turning on and off every few seconds.
So i got the corsair HX750i and I still have Coil Whine... it seems like its less, but its still pretty severe. Sigh.

This case manages to dampen the sound a little bit i guess. either that or its so loud in the case that it drowns out the buzzing... oh well, at least i like the new look of my pc.
So guys, I'm pulling the trigger tonight on the 970. Since I only play with headphones coil whine isn't a huge problem for me and my PC is tucked away a bit far away under the table. So which one would be the best for me?
I don't know. I've been on the fence about buying myself a 970 and the only thing holding me back is the fear of getting one with a horrible coil whine. My tower case is closed and under my desk but I've heard lots of people complain about the whine even buttoned up and on the floor too.
It just seems hilarious to me that all of these 970's seem to have the potential for loud whine irregardless of manufacturer. You would think they all would have noticed this before approving for production...?
I was slightly worried about coil whine but I generally have good luck with electronics and I really think these issues always seem to you more common than they actually are. Naturally, because people who have problems tend to complain about them, people who don't have problems are happily playing. So the negative voices are always more noticeable and that creates an unrealistic impression to someone who is reading comments online.
I just ran my first "stress test" of my MSI 970 using Unigine Valley and the coil whine was faint even with the case open, on top of the desk and with the sound muted. So I'm pretty sure it will be a non-issue once I close the case, put it on the floor and have a game sound coming out of the speakers. I guess I lucked out, again.
Or maybe Unigine isn't a very good test for coil whine, I don't know. I tried to push the framerate as high as I can by running it in Low Quality, at 640p and turning off all effects and AA, but strangely it didn't jump past 120fps I think. Temps didn't go above 60 (on Ultra, 1200p, 8x AA, etc)
Need more tests...
We can't really answer that question. Every brand is affected by coil whine, each has its own design and performance targets.
Here is an interesting link comparing the Gigabyte, MSI and ASUS 970s :
