For overclocking and monitoring temps? Use MSI Afterburner.
Edit: You'll want Inspector, too. It's a pretty useful tool.
No. Radeonpro is the alternative to Nvidia Inspector for when you don't have an NV GPUJust realised, with my 970, I'm gonna have to stop using Radeonpro. Is Nvidia Inspector the recommended alternative?
More for forcing graphics options like triple buffer vsync, AA in games that have none and frame limiting. I do have Afterburner mind, very useful tool for monitoring.
Just ask another rep in chat. You just got a guy that didn't know what was up.
You think that's bad? I've bought two Galaxy GPUs before and there's no way to register their warranties online.Dat Galax 970 is hawt, but I'm afraid because no reviews

nice... i hope mine comes quickly too. I want to hide all those ugly transistors and chips and solder.Got my free backplate from EVGA for my 970 today. That was fast! I think I put the order in last thursday?
It involves taking out a bunch of screws and the card is so small already that I don't think it'll have an issue without the backplate so my motivation to put it together is pretty low. However if I have some free time this weekend I may just go ahead and do it. Seems simple enough.
The buzzing on my evga acx 2.0 has gone down significantly after I ran unigine valley for 48 hours straight. It's definitely there still. But I don't hear it during gameplay over the fans anymore, so I'm calling this solved
Has any other graphics card release gotten nearly as big a thread as this?
Can people who bought 970/980 before promotion still get a game?

I had the same issue with BF4 on my EVGA 970, but it randomly stopped after the 3rd time I restarted the game. Not sure why, but I'm gonna just hope it doesn't come back.Interesting. I have some pretty ugly freezing/hitching/stuttering in BF4 (whatever you want to call it) and happened to stumble across this thread about the EVGA 970 FTW indicating it's TDP limited.
http://forums.evga.com/Can-I-get-an-EVGA-response-on-some-970-GTX-FTW-TDP-issues-m2244186.aspx
I think I'm going to try to load up Afterburner and hit the power limit to 110% and try again, see if it's any better. I HAVE seen my boost clock fluctuate quite a bit when playing BF4. I didn't think that was the issue but who knows.
Same guy created a modded BIOS to address it:
http://forums.evga.com/Modded-BIOS-to-fix-970-FTW-severe-throttling-issues-w-link-m2247507.aspx
I don't even know. Maybe I'm having some bad luck picking cards. For the fact that the FTW is almost $50 more than the others, I would expect it to be cream of the crop.

Should all MSI 970 owners flash the new BIOS?
Is it recommended to install RIvaTuner with Afterburner or is there a better utility I should download instead?
/GPUNoob
Afterburner is still the best. I keep it up for the on screen display even though I'm not overclocking my card atm.
It is. I took part in the one week trial that started Friday, but I liked it so much that I bought it for $20 on Amazon. Now I feel like buying the map packs. Haha.Seriously? Wow. I'll have to give it another shot. The game did seem fun.

I installed the Live Update tool and let it do an auto scan of my system, it listed a bunch of things I can download but a new VBIOS was not one of them.
Also I caught my fans running randomly while idling.

any overclocking or underclocking? I took down my clock speed by like 150 and had it at like 85% power level through EVGA precision and the buzzing was almost inaudible. I'm about to switch out my powersuply and I will post the outcome... along with some before an after pics of my new case![]()
I wasn't asking about Afterburner (I read it's the best everywhere), but while installing it it asked me if I also want to install RivaTuner Statistics Server with it.

Hope it works out for you though. I have the 970 SC ACX2.0 at factory OC, but I have the game on ultra at 1080/60. Your card is better than mine, so hopefully next time you boot it up it'll just go away.
Something is off with my gamma I think... desktop colors/black levels look different than they did on Intel GPU. It's brighter or washed out.
I just noticed that there is a wire on my MSI 970 that is touching both the heat pipe and heatsink as you can see in the pic:
Is that normal? Doesn't seem wise to me.
Also I just booted into Windows and opened Lightroom to crop and export the above photo and one of the fans started spinning like crazy. I quit Lightroom like 5 minutes ago and it's still spinning at what seems like full speed. I only have Chrome with this tab open... wth?
Thats the fan bug.
Try setting up a fan curve in MSI Afterburner. Settings > Fan > check the box saying "Enable user defined fan control". Apply settings. See if that does anything.
