Really disappointed in the final smashes. They kept all the clone ones the same and they changed a few of my favorite. Kirby's new one is a lot more powerful but I miss spawning a ton of items with the old one. I also noticed that every crate/barrel/party ball never has more than 2 items in it. I loved King DeDeDe's old final smash as well but that obviously got changed because of the 3DS hardware.

I like what they did for Pit's and Charizard's, but yeah they could have revamped a few more of them. I really liked Kirby's old one for the Super Star nostalgia... it also felt harder to dodge.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I wish if Pit had his Brawl fair instead of this new one. It might have been better if it dealt one single solid hit versus having this multi-hit effect to itself. Swapping the Brawl/Smash 4 bair for that would have been better, at least imo. I guess that's just my Project M side talking though.

It's kind of crazy how much Sakurai fit into Bowser Jr.'s moveset:

- Cannon
- Buzzsaw
- Tongue
- Propeller
- Hammer
- Grappling claw
- Rubber mallet
- Boxing gloves
- Pitchforks
- Wrecking balls
- Drill-arms
- Drill (bottom)
- Kart mode
- Mechakoopas
- Eject seat
- Self-destruct

I can't believe Shulk's side B doesn't grab the ledge. That's so messed up in this game.

Anyone wanna beat up on a Shulk? I'm pretty terrible with him right now but I wanna play him for a bit.

Yep, I thought the same. The attention to detail.
The Koopa Clown truly is the swiss army knife of the Mario series.

Ugh I won't get home for another 2 hours. I main Shulk and I love mirror matches.

You learn the pattern eventually. The second form of Master Core goes by pretty quickly if you do that.

For the swords... they also have a relatively easy pattern to get. Try not to be in the air when they go for a big slash, for one thing. But to be fair, I had the power of Aura with me.

Man I got the pattern down for everyone, but the stupid swords. Every time I roll away it feels like it is still able to slash me. Also I air dodge too early for the delayed slash that it sends horizontally across the stage, that's one issue I know I made last time I fought it. But yeah slowly learning the pattern its just aggravating spending coins and then losing to a dumb sword.

Megaman's metal blades are really effective against Master Core.

Charizard's rock smash too.

Effective counter with Marth, Lucina, Ike and Shulk also do wonders as it is easy to time Master Core's slash attacks when in sword form.

Fox's uair spam can also rack up damage in an instant.

I am pretty much only good with Yoshi at the moment. But I'll try out Fox cause I think I could beat the first five battles and make it to master hand by that point.

I've done it with half the characters now. If you don't have any objections with using Custom characters, stack all Attack Power badges with anything that improves Smash Attacks.

If not, you're going to have to learn the timing to spot dodge Master Core's huge humanoid/scorpion form attacks and learning to use under the ledge to dodge Master/Crazy hand.

As for the sword, it's by far the most difficult. Don't get greedy and holding down the shield button instead of doing rolls is more safe.

Up Smash. All day. Every character can reach all forms of the Master Hand using Up Smash.

Yeah I learned using the shield the hard way. It broke my shield and then KO'd me in one fell swoop. But even when I roll it feels like the smaller swords still hit me and then the big sword finally smashes me away and kills me. Also I don't use badges, I wanna beat that crazy fucker the old fashioned way. Hopefully I'll be able to do it.

Also thank you all for the advice it really helps :)

According to Bowser Jr.'s trophy, this variant is called the "Junior Clown Car." I wonder if the ones the Koopalings pilot is called something else, since their cars have a different design, with glowing eyes instead of the black ones. Like they're a mass-produced model or something. :-)

I want one!

They're probably considered Junior Clown Cars as well since they are small in relation to how large Bowser's Clown Car was in SMW.

Just have to say I absolutely love how damn strong Yoshi is in this game.

He finally got the buffs he needed and he's pretty dangerous in most situations.

Also, lol at the early impressions saying Marth got nerfed. Dude still wrecks like nobody's business as long as you play him as a spacing character and not some Sheik-lite.

Yep, Yoshi is amazing in this game. More adorable than ever, too! They even included black Yoshi. :-D

But not white Yoshi, smh racist Nintendo

If only I wasn't workin this cursed graveyard shift, is feed shulk some Bacon D:

Anyone know any good strategies for taking out a Mii Gunner?

Would be better if the new firmware made it so you actually received notifications that someone had an open lobby, but I guess this works for now.

Technically it does. A little orange orb will glow over the Friends List icon if someone has an open lobby.

You can also hit people hanging from the edge of the stage by dropping the Clown Car on them, and you can hit people off-stage trying to jump up to the edge by firing off a half-charged cannonball -- the ball will drop and hit them below the stage!

Oh u can drop that shit on them and it'll hit?! Let's get it! And cannonball mind games are fun too. I'm loving this fool!

Took me about 30mins to get 2238.5 with ZZS. I was thinking that was only average.

Edit: I see my copy uses feet instead of meters.

Edit 2: Wait, it's not in options to change. Is it just an arbitrary naming difference?

I did that first try.

Yoshi's Dair racks up damage extremely, extremely quickly.

Really?

All i've managed with Yoshi is 564.4m, might give him a proper shot then.

For Ganon the sandbag was around 118+ damage before he hit it with the tip of the baseball bat, didn't realize until a little bit into my attempts that the tip of the bat sends the sandbag further (Or at least it seems that way to me compared to its body).

........ Well that's my feeling of accomplishment torched lol :(

2368.4 with Dr. Mario

*sigh*

Picked this up last week, only had time for a quick bash last night, and it's my first time playing Smash. Anyone care to point me towards a primer? Or a decent way to learn movesets?

Loving Bowser so far, seems very attack orientated?

Finally cracked the 1000m mark in home run contest, all hail King Ganondorf.

Maybe you're missing the key of hitting the sandbag with the very very end of your bat when you smash with it. If you hit the bag near the handle of the bat it doesn't go near as far.

Just grab the bat, spend like 5 seconds spamming whatever move doesn't make you have to follow the sandbag around (usually up tilt or forward tilt or down air) take your time getting into position, and smash it from as far away from the sandbag as you can while still hitting it. You'll be getting 1000m from everyone easy once you learn the trick.

So how many headgear items are there in this game? I'm at 34 right now.

Also, fuck Classic 9.0. That sword form always fucking gets me, man.

One tip about the master core sword I noticed the other day, those balls it shoots out are considered energy projectiles.

So if you're Ness, you can get a full heal off them. Game & Watch can fill his bucket, Mario can send them back with his cape, etc.

Wait are all these records in feet or meters?

Because that ZSS and Dr Mario one are actually shorter than mine if converted to meters. Both coming in at 682m and 721m.

My game is in Meters.

Sword form is pretty easy to evade but is hard to land good hits simply because it's flying. The best way is to recognize the pattern of his attacks to know when to attack, when to dodge, or when to just shield. The only thing that is basically hard to defend is the "omni-slash" thing where the swords are spread out and starts attacking in different directions. But the last slash is easy to shield or dodge if you get familiar with the timing.

It would seem the distance naming is not arbitrary.

1000m is super easy with Gannondorf tho.

It's hard for me to do repeated smashes with him. After the first one he gets stuck in tilt mode? God I hope it's just an animation quirk and my circle pad isn't dying already.

My best homerun contest so far is 2392 with ganondorf, pretty sure I just did his dair a whole bunch of times. Got 2008 with Yoshi doing the same thing.

Same here, guessing you spammed his f-tilt to victory as well?

Dodge
Bat throw
Shoulder charge
Up smash
Down A
Up Smash
Down A
Some bat swings then the bat hit to get over the 1000

Trying out the method in that video since that distance is 500 or so meters farther than mine when converted.
