GGs man! That match on Balloon Fight was really funny; not sure why I charged you when you had a FS ready to go.

LOL

That was so great.

Speaking of Comic Con, I just remembered that I uploaded all of my Smash 4 pre-launch impressions (Best Buy and Comic Con) to Giant Bomb. I wanted it all in one spot, and GB blogs are pretty.

So yeah, it's all there (and slightly updated), for posterity. There's probably some really funny, outdated sounding lines in there already.
Hey, I actually had a quick question for you man. I'm thinking of adding Sheik to my repertoire of characters. Any advice on how Smash 4 Sheik should be approached? I've never used her in previous games that much, but her new B moves make her way more interesting to me, especially bouncing fish.

For those who keep killing themselves with Greninja's recovery trying to activate Hydro Pump it only works if you press up B and not diagonal up B. Press Up B first then quickly the direction you want to go.

That's saved me a bunch. Fortunately Hydro Pump is an excellent recovery move, but you have to be on your toes.

Good games OricWIndstar. Still confused about how to turn off items in online matchmaking. Thought the Omega stages sufficed to turn them off, but then the field would be full 10 seconds into the match.

Oh yeah, it's kind of funky. Whoever loses gets control of the rules, so you just have to go in there and manually turn it off. You only have to do it once, though.

Pac man is so damn fun you guys.

I've been trying to get down his hydrant walk off bair so you can send it as a pretty beefy bouncing projectile but with the 3ds pad it's tough for me to do consistently. :\

Ah gotcha. It's not that intuitive to click the Stock icon rather than the wrench.

What is everyone's 1v1 For Glory win rate? And how many games have you played?

I have played 327 matches and I'm completely stuck at ~%70, just went from 69.5 to 70.5. Raising it a single percent is so tough now...

Paging IntelliHeath

Are the 'unlockable characters' boxes in the OP going to be linked to the pages on the main site now that a few have been up for a while? Those question marks just sitting there doing nothing are annoying me :P

I'm around 54. About the same number of matches. Not the greatest, but with less mistakes I should be able to get 60ish. Had a 100 game winrate of 66 at one time. Still having fun even though the game can really frustrate me sometimes.

So apparently you can save up to 64 replays, if I counted correctly. I have a 32GB card, so it's not a matter of space on my end. I had to go back and delete a number of replays to make room for new ones.

Anyone want to play 1v1, no items to help me train my Sheik? I've barely touched her in this game, but she seems like a lot of fun. I may switch to my better characters if you kick my ass too much. :P

Hmm, some basic stuff off the top of my head:

-use ftilt a lot. At less than 50%, it's going to combo into another f tilt. Maybe two or three or more depending on the size of your opponent. Then...

-forward air. Fair isn't a kill move, it's a combo move. f tilt to fair is a combo at certain percents, but it's also a really easy follow up. Read the air dodge, then fair.

-Jab to finisher is a solid, quick punish that puts you into an edge guarding position. That's what you want as Sheik. She gimps like a pro. With the new ledge mechanics, her recovery is INCREDIBLY buffed. You're getting that ledge EVERY time, something that was pretty uncommon in Melee and Brawl. So don't be afraid to go out there for the kill, cause you will likely make it back to the stage.

-Her throws are extremely good. Down throw can usually lead into a fair or up air. If you are using fair, you are likely trying to get your opponent off the stage, which can lead to an edgeguard situation. In that situation, you want to kill with a back air. It's probably Sheik's best kill move.

Alternatively, you can try to snipe a bouncing fish. It will kill at lower percents than a back air, but it's a bit tougher to land and the lag afterwords can put you into a bad position if your opponent regains their footing on the stage. It's good to mix up bairs and down b's, always keep your opponent guessing.

-up air is also a good kill move at like 120%+. It's relatively easy to land after a down throw. Again, try to bait the air dodge, and they're done for.

It's still super early days, but I've found success using that basic gameplan.

Ugh, why the limit? :(

I thought it would be nice to have my whole (much smaller) SD card used just for Smash replays.

Hey did you fought a Shulk in for glory called "Fand" and won while using Shulk? Fought one called Ben.

Nah I've only played as ZSS, Lucina and Lucario in for glory. I'd mix it up more but that'd just make my win % worse than it already is :P

I try to practice with Shulk in single player but I just can't get good with him :(

I believe around the same percent. It dropped to 60 after I decided I wanted to learn how to Sheik and then quickly restored after I tilted and picked Mac/ZSS/Rosalina for 30 games straight.

Oh awesome, thanks! This is all super helpful. I was just in training and noticed the F-Tilt being super helpful, but the rest of this is new to me and great stuff to know.

I'll play.
Coolio. I'll make a room.

Anyone else using shulk? I'm kinda forcing myself to learn him just cuz I like the character but I'm doing alright so far. Anyone have advice?

Better than Dorf's run

Seriously. He should have an alt costume with some sweatpants and earbuds.

His buster stance is extremely good at racking up %, but be careful as you also take more damage. His speed stance affects his aerial horizontal movement, therefore making him lunge ala Melee Captain Falcon (aka: very good). His Jump stance deals additional damage, so if your smash stance runs out and you're still trying to get that KO, switch to that.

I'm down to 1v1 a bit 0619-4285-0885

There was one from japan floating around earlier

Yea but it's all speculation based on a few tournament results. People are still learning new techinques and once customs become allowed who knows what will happen.

can you explain that a little further?

When you're on the ground and use the hydrant you're right on top of it. From this position you can walk off the edge and immediately back air which in one hit usually knocks the hydrant away. It doesn't take long for the water spout to happen so you need to do it pretty quickly.

I've been finding it really damn useful.

Wow fighting Link with lag is really the worst.

His range is ridiculous and can camp the entire game with his insanely fast roll.

Which makes it hard to punish with lag.

I barely managed to pull a victory over what should have been an easy win.

Well yea, which is why I am saying I think he is currently underrated. I fail to see what you guys are arguing with me about, lol
