How strange, the former's how it came off to me.

Different tastes/perceptions are funny, funny things, aren't they?

You're pretty much the first and only person I have ever seen who actually not only enjoyed the level, but actually like the aesthetic. To most people the level is usually considered one of the worst designed levels in the entire series.

What do you mean when you say hit the ground properly?

I guess I don't mean anything since it seems Bair auto cancels. Go nuts with this strategy it's great for Bowser!

Any other Donkey Kong's out there that want to learn from another player? I love watching out other players play my mains to get ideas.

Oh for you Mac guys here is something that will make you even more scary.

Other characters may be able to do this but not my big characters thats for sure. :(

Just imagine Dark Samus having a final smash where it reverts into the original Metroid Prime form just briefly, and all the armor and everything forms around it giving you

I like you.

Dark Samus would have been better than Dark Pit :/

What do y'all think of Duck Hunt?

Combining his can with the clay pigeon, while dodging around or shielding or doing whatever else...it's complicated but it seems like if you get used to it, he'll be amazing.

I don't tend to identify with most Brawl complaints, for whatever reason.

Personally I find the aesthetic intriguing and I love 1-2 as party/pinball stage.

Can we all agree that Dreamland is a nice stage for friendly people?

I adore Kirby, and yet that's probably my least stage from the series. Give me Green Greens any day.

I got all of the characters by falling so I could hurry up and play online/with friends which is the only thing I care about doing and is what will keep me playing far longer than anything else in the game.

the online fights count do

as in, I started playing Smash against the CPU after a while of playing online and each time I beat the CPU a new challenger showed up, till I got em all

Magicant is better than Dreamland.

Magicant is a great stage that is absolutely ruined by crappy hazards.

Also, best Kirby stage is the original - Dreamland 64. (Fountain of Dreams is good too but as a Falcon player I think I am obligated to dislike it).

Yeah I wanted to try out the entire cast before I decided on a main. I wanted to get to that point asap.

I actually like Mushroomy Kingdom, as well (especially now with the 3D making the foreground elements really pop). It's unfortunate they dropped 1-2 in the 3DS version, but 1-1 still holds up well. But like I said, I've never been sure what to think of its aesthetics. It makes a nice backdrop when I want to take pictures in a realistic/earthy/desert-like environment, but it's a bit desolate in some respects. Like, our parents don't picture Mickey Mouse chain-smoking in a wifebeater just because they grew up. Likewise, our memories of the Mushroom Kingdom (or at least mine) will remain bright and colorful, because that's the timeless essence of what Mario is. Games like that don't get "dusty" in our hearts and minds... Speaking for myself, of course. :-)

Some options for For Glory Smash would have been nice. Forced timed battles make it virtually unplayable. Half of the people just camp and run away, while the others just blindly spam their attacks and hope somebody gets hit. I'd be surprised if anybody has a win ratio of over 30%.

you just described GLORY, friend.

Win by any means necessary.

I think my win ratio at ~120 matches is about 52 percent now. Probably about to nosedive again as I experiment with Rosalina & Luma, etc.

Brawl just has a washed-out, plastic aesthetic in general compared to the rest of the series and Smash 4 especially. So many colors, man.

Flying Man is hilarious on FFA. The mad scramble to get to him when he appears is, to me, quintessential Smash craziness.

I, too, wish some of the stage hazards were less obtrusive (I'm looking at you, Yellow Devil,) but on the whole, I think this game has a pretty good crop of stages. Rainbow Road, Prism Tower, Arena Ferox, Tortimer Island, Gerudo Valley, Dreamland, and Pictochat 2 are all favorites of mine.

Sounds like you're getting really bad luck, not actually playing For Glory, or are really bad. I have a 75% win, and I'm not that good haha. If people spam they'll lose, and if they camp you'll be able to beat them in sudden death.

I WON'T HEAR IT
I'm so sorry haha

People never include Spirit Tracks in their favorite stage lists, and that saddens me.

I think the main issue with Wily's Castle is that you are not given enough space to really react to Yellow Devil. So he gets in the way more often than not.
Thank you for reminding me of Gerudo Valley, I really like that stage as well. Disappointed in Dreamland because I wish it was more than just scrolling between stages.

I did, so that should make you at least a bit happy.

Anyone else new to the series and really struggling online?

I mainly play 1v1 Glory because I think it is the most fun and competitive. I've been doing slightly better lately although my record is like 8-52. This is my first Smash game and I am getting beat pretty consistently.

I'm having a good time and I'm going to keep playing but consistently losing over and over again is a bit discouraging at times.

Hi. Smashboards has character forums that have tips for each character. Practicing spacing can help as well. For example I use mario and he has short limbs so I know he has a specific range he can punch from and hit. Also know which moves your character has that start up fast or slow and how much recovery time they need. I hope that helps.

Fair enough. I agree the 3D really makes it stand out.

I too, enjoy instant win buttons in levels just by standing in a good spot at the right time. Really fun to just lose the game because I threw my enemy into the instant win button. Fair and fun for all!

well it's a good thing I can fight him back, then!

Great Gonzales's opinion falls in line with mine, really. Obviously not suited for serious bouts, but it's hilarious for FFAs.

I remember being really disappointed that Smash 4 didn't go for the same direction. Amazing how I've turned around on that.

Here's the thing, Mega Man has a long and storied tradition of awesome levels with interesting platform arrangements and environmental challenges, spikes, lasers, etc.

So why is his level just Final Destination with a huge annoying hazard.

im winning 1v1 for glory matches with Wario by throwing my first stock away jumping off the stage then beating them with 1 like a complete smug asshole

I like Spirit Tracks - aesthetically, it's one of the best - but it's not one of my favorites to play on. A lot of the train cars, especially the covered ones, are too small and cramped. I wish the train took up more space. It's also kind of annoying when the camera pans left and cuts off nearly everything except the steam engine, because then there's really not enough room to fight.

I think the main issue with Wily's Castle is that you are not given enough space to really react to Yellow Devil. So he gets in the way more often than not.

You have neither enough space nor enough time. YD takes up too much of the stage, and he teleports to the other side too quickly. I've never actually seen him explode because it takes too much time to defeat him.

My top stages so far are:

Spirit Tracks - WAAAAY too fun.
Boxing Ring - Lovely design.
Balloon Fight - Dat pixel look.

I saw a screenshot of a orange version of Balloon Fight, how does one obtain that version of the stage?

It actually has interesting platforms, but they're only around for a tenth of a second before the entire stage goes to hell and the Yellow Devil arrives.

Gerudo Valley is a fantastic example of hazards done right. The witches appear very infrequently, give a lot of warning on what they're about to do so you adjust, the hazard is easy to ignore completely, and it doesn't last long at all.

I like that level a lot.

my favorite stages:

AC Island
Wario Ware
Magicant

worst stages:
Nintendogs (that's a nice garden, though)
Balloon Fight 2

Paper Mario is ruined by the Bowser Castle :(

My friend and I had a lot of fun today when half the level became ice, we were like "whooaaaaaahhhh get out of there jesus"

The Bowser Castle form itself isn't so bad, it's the transforming into it that's the real killer. There's a point where the two flat platforms haven't appeared yet and all you have is the rotating Bowser head, which doesn't give you a lot of room to plant your feet. I was just doing an FFA with three Lv. 9s, and all four of us died during that transformation lol.

As with Spirit Tracks, Bowser's Castle would be better if there was less empty space. Either have more platforms, or make the platforms that are already there bigger.
