There are plenty of things I don't like in gaming. I just don't feel like talking about them, which is why you generally only hear about what I like. :-)

For me, Smash Run is fun for a number of reasons:

1) It's easy to pick up and play. Choose a character, and off you go. Five minutes of constant rewards!

2) You constantly make progress. You get faster as you run; you jump higher as you jump. Every enemy you defeat showers you with stat boosts. Everything you do powers you up, and you feel the difference as you play. You start off having to double-jump to low platforms when using heavy characters, but by the end of the five minutes, you can clear two platforms in a single bound.

3) The variety is astounding. So many enemies, and each with such clever attention to detail. Many have multiple attacks, and unique weaknesses. And the enemies you encounter -- and the arrangements you encounter them in -- are randomized, so it's fresh every time you play.

4) The maze is HUGE, but navigable. I don't have the layout committed to memory, but I always feel like I can find my way eventually. The maze is also gorgeous, with the waterfalls, temples, etc., so it's scenic, too!

5) The pinball effect. Enemies are so satisfying to defeat in Smash Run, partly because of the way they ricochet around the room and defeat other enemies in the process. Also, if they fall offscreen, their stat boosts will land conveniently nearby. Very few enemies feel "bullet-spongy," and the ones that do are intentionally made that way (I.E. Polar Bear, Darknut, etc).

All in all, it's just a great way to farm for custom moves, bonus effects, headgear, outfits, etc. With regards to the event at the end, it feels more like a cherry on top of a delicious sundae, so I'm fine with its relative brevity. :-)

Every run I've had has been essentially the same thing. Run around, dodge enemy attacks, try to find treasure chests, hope you don't die too many times, pray that you get a decent end game. I've yet to see any variety whatsoever.

Edit: I also never notice any difference after picking up stat boosts. Like... none at all.

Fighting metal Rosalina on classic and she immediately up-Bs and suicides off the edge

You think that's funny? My first ever classic mode match as Greninja was vs. Shulk on Gaur Plains and his opening move was BACK SLASH off the top of the stage down the pit in the middle.

I was completely winded. It was like Melee Falcon CPU's at level nine when you hold the edge on Final Destination. :lol

Yeah that happened to me too. The computer really doesn't know how to handle Shulk on his own stage.

When I play, I'm looking for customs. So I essentially destroy everything in my path to collect stat boosts and more quickly find the heavies and treasure chests that drop customs. This imbues the mode with a strong sense of purpose. Once I have the customs I want, I'll use it to farm for money by prioritizing the gold and silver drops. You can only carry so many pickups before you start bumping earlier ones, hence the way I prioritize. It's a lot of fun, between the rewards and the variety of enemies and how satisfying they are to defeat. Sorry to hear it's not your bag. :-\

EDIT: Saw your edit about not seeing stat boost differences. That's crazy to me. You can leap three stories with enough Jump!

DaBoss, is that a new update since the launch day one? or just the 1.02 patch that came out last week.

Golden Slumbers, if you still can't join my game, try making the room and we'll see if we can join you, I guess?
It is a new update for the 3DS itself. Not the game. It is the themes update.

I prefer to farm customs from stuff like classic mode. There's lots to enjoy in the game, but Smash Run just feels like total chaos. I think it's severely limited by the 3DS screen. I can't really see what's going on most of the time. Also, I have no idea how to fight any of the enemies. It's like every fight is Crazy/Master Hand (by far the worst parts of Classic mode).

Most of the enemies, you can just hit normally. The ones you can't, you can grab them (I.E. the Octoroks, the Shield Ghosts, etc).

I'd give it another try or two -- maybe it'll click for you at some point. But hey, if you don't like it, that's fine. :-)

I dunno, I've had pretty lag free matches so far -- even with emb it feels like it's offline to me.
I should add that I live in Australia, and our net isn't the best. I'm also using a US 3DS, which means that I'm probably getting matched with people from the US rather than here, and I doubt that helps. Mario Kart 7 was fine though, so it's frustrating.

Most of the time in my fights neither of us can actually hit each other. It's kind of hilarious at times just how often we'll dash towards each other and then start our attack animations a good distance away from each other. Recovering is a nightmare as well.

Am I the only one enraged about the inability to adjust the frequency with which items appear?

They seem to be set to very high, but the option to adjust their frequency has been removed...despite the fact that this is a significant customization option that has been in the game series for over a decade.

Seriously, if this option is removed from the Wii U version as well, I'm going to be livid. There is zero reason to remove such a significant customization feature.

yoo dudes don't even know how to take on shulk. I can reliably shut down Little Mac with this fucker. anyone who's got a good handle on their mains want to fight me 1v1? I wanna get some good fights going. I'm going to be playing as Shulk, DK, DeDeDe, Villager, and my Mii. My code is 0602 6282 8767. Reply or PM

All right, I need a break now. GGs emb. Your Sheik is kinda nutso, shades of Denti in there from what I could tell. :p

DK has such a hard time vs Sheik. x.x

So when's the GAF tournament?

Can someone tell me how you can choose your victory pose? I'm pretty sure you can. I thought it was holding the D-Pad to the taunt at the end of the match but I don't think thats it. I somehow got it to do the Toon Link chasing the pig everytime without holding anything. So confusing. Why can't it be in options?

Is it the D-Pad or something else? When exacly do you have to start holding the button? Do you have to do it each time? I mean TL was stuck on that one forever until it finally changed. Why isn't this in the instruction manual? This is a very important thing Mr. Sakurai.

Stilk figuring out a few small things like that, but after trying out every fighter I am glad that I can play around half the cast with next to no problems. Unlike most people, I'll be maing lots. D:

Slowly working on 100%ing the game. Will not use tye hammers except for the street pass stuff. (I know you don't have to SP but still.) Already played over 30 hours so far. :O
And thats without online due to my bad internet for the month. Just playing LV9 1FS1s and 100%ing it.
