Hooked my 3DS to my HiFi and blasting out the tunes from Sound Test. Such a good set of remixes. Definitely quality over quantity like in Melee vs Brawl.

How does online random matchmaking work? I haven't played Smash seriously since Melee days so I'm slowly trying to get good at this again. But I'm getting smashed in online matches as if I am being paired with people who are simply on another level. Obviously I want to get better but I also want to be matched with people of a similar skill level.

Is it just me or is Bowser like...really good?

I have a shitty win ration (42% or something) but I swear I've never lost or even come close to losing with him! The only reason I dont play him all the time is im terrified someone is going to completely annihilate me and end the dream.

I wish I were good at Palu. :(

Tried using her a bit after playing Robin the whole day and I can't wrap my head around her playstyle at all. Kept getting handily wrecked since I basically couldn't figure out what to do with her at all.

Palutena masters please teach me.

Play around with her custom moves and she becomes a much stronger character. Default Palutena is pretty weak IMO.

That's my experience as well. I wanted to play Palutena as soon as I got the game but both her neutral B and side B are kind of underwhelming. Such a short range for her auto reticle.

Custom moves does make her more interesting.

Just went 10/10 in for glory with my puff queen herself. Good god is she back and better than ever.

Finally got that room worked out with my sister, played an hour or so with her. For some reason deleting her friend card and readding it cleared it up. She's not much of a competitive player so it was great to play through all the items and laugh with each other.

Then played the next two hours with my little bro back home, who is as competitive as I am (specifically in Melee). Again, THE JIGGS IS BACK! Puff punching into rests, punishing missed techs into rest, it all feels so good. In a game where characters can live easily to 160, she's brutal with having KO at roughly 60 going for her.

Played a lot of shulk tonight too, really getting a feel for his monado. Speed (blue?) for approach, his fair cancels pretty quickly. Once they're up to 80%, switch to attack (red?) and up b. The second hit kills a lot on it.

Overall, some lag on 1v1 for glory, but the stuff with my siblings was perfect. Absolutely everything I wanted the game to be. Couldn't be more happy.

One of the things I find works well is bating out rolls and the like and punishing them with smash attacks. You can dash -> let the stick reset to normal -> forward smash pretty quickly with him too. May take a second to get used to, but bum rushing with his forward smash is a brutal weapon it seems to me.

That's great! Im back home playing with my brother now. By the way, did you used to frequent n-philes aka need mentality forums? I could have sworn I seent your username a while back...

Sure, I think I already have you on my friend list from the time everyone played Pokemon. If you create a room I can join

edit: I didn't see anything, so I'll go take lunch instead
Sorry, was away for a sec, real life needed me :p. I don't play pokemon though, so I think you confuse me with someone else.

I see, np.

Nah, I probably got it from something else then, I just added most of everyone I have on my friend list from pokemon. I saw an "out_of_amm" (I think there was one letter missing in one word, dunno if that was the right one) online or something like that in my friend list yesterday, so unless you have an impersonator it should be. I think it is a relatively unique user name and I have only added gaffers. Of course, I might be wrong, but I would guess it is correct.

Ganondorf still sucks but he's the only char I can consistently win with lol. Forward B into down tilt catches a lot of people that don't know what to do. Back air still godlike.

Played a lot of Fox online, seems way too defensive for my play style. Just a lot of lasers and punishing. Had a hard time killing with anything other than up air and down smash.

Played against Shulk a bunch and he seems alright. Great in the air, but pretty punishable on the ground (though his smashes have great range).

Tried a bit of Greninja and didn't care for him. Felt like his smashes all had a slight delay which made them difficult to time. Great agility though.

Thinking I might try Bowser tomorrow.

I've streetpassed (ok, homepassed) a lot of people playing Smash, but none of them seem to have enabled Streetpass. Looks like I'm going to have trouble with the Streetsmash challenges.

His biggest benefit is super armor on all of his smashes. If you can adjust to your opponent's pattern and read some of his/her moves, you can just tear through anything they throw at you. Throwing in some counters here and there is also helpful and a good way to scare off projectile spammers.

Let's play together sometime! :D

Thanks guys. I guess I just need to incorporate more smash attacks in my footsies.

I thought I might've seen that Little Mac had armor on one of them, but I didn't know it was all of them.

Yeah that's probably me :p. Maybe we added each other for bravely default.

Is it just me or is it harder to jump of Wario's bike then in brawl? If riden myself to my doom several times now because I could'nt jump off in time...

Anyone having their game crash randomly after matches end? From what I'm reading the small amount of people this is happening to have the downloaded version. Anyone manage to fix the issue?

Low levels of AI are hilariously pathetic. It seems like they just want to be friends, because they will all follow you around, even in a little group, not attacking each other or even you much. "Why you gotta hit me bro"

my copy is arriving soon,

do we have a friend code thread? need to add some peeps!

Anyone in the US/Canada up early (or late I guess) and want to play?

4141-3573-6151

I don't like playing for glory matches because I can't add the person after a close match.

I've played all smash games and I've never understood how this game works. Is there like a total noob tutorial for this game?

Just bought this for 3ds and i'm feeling just as lost and confused as i did when i played smash 64, melee and brawl.

The percentage of fights I had with online vs randoms lagfree is very little. And oh boy, when it lags it feels like hell, like if the game was loading every 3 seconds sometimes. Its horrible.
And then while I can anter all the modes without much problems, when i try 1vs1 in for glory the game usually gives me an online error (018-0501). After 4 or 5 times trying it works, but is tedious as hell. Yesterday night I had fun when I could enter a 1vs1 for glory match. Played like 5 matches vs a random called andy and I destroyed him with Little Mac (he was fox) then he got Sheik, and I still won, so I decided to change the character also to Peach. Had a harder time but I also won and decided to call it a night.

The controls are still not optimal (doing any smash move is impossible to get every time right, and thats something it never has to happen with any game, and much less a fighting one) but Im getting better.
Home run contest is a pain in the ass when you fail a good percentage becuase the stick didnt want to respond well to a charged smash with the bat.

Smash Run is really boring and Im trying to like it. This types of enemies would have been GREAT for a real adventure mode (instead of the random enemies brawl used in SSE), with levels themed around them and a boss at the end. But this 5 minutes runs are pretty shitty and you can't enjoy fighting agaisnt them (much less the more powerful ones).
Really HOPE theres some kind of adventure mode (even without a story, if what Sakurai said is true) on the WiiU that reuses this enemies.

Also is it me or has Captain Falcon got better? That or this shitty controls make him easier to play than other characters.

Lil Mac is amazing but his recovery sucks
Dark Pit is amazing and his recovery is amazing
Pikachu is nerfed to all hell oh noes my old main
Captain Falcon pretty good now tho
DK still on his old ass moveset, needs something fresh
Bowser Jr is solid
Wii Fit Trainer can't hit shit
Shulk is a cunt
Wario + Homerun Bat = Dirty
Fire vs Charizard = Normally Effective
Palutena = I have no idea what I'm doing
