Testing out 4-person For Glory right now....yeah it's laggy as balls. Matches are playable, but there's enough stutter and slow down to make it suboptimal playing conditions. Eh.
 
Well, I think 8 hours straight is enough, surprisingly I still haven't gotten as much as the demo which is around 16 hours. Man do I love smash. Goodnight, thanks for all the matches.

It's usually a combo of both at least in terms of a fix.

For everyone that hasn't you should go back and listen to the episode of IGN's NVC when they have a former Gamespy now IGN employee on talking about doing Wii online back in the day and the hurdles and cluster fuck that it was.

Thanks guys. I wanted to give it a little time in case it showed up but it never did.

I did call amazon and I requested a refund since I can walk into Target in the morning and buy a copy no problems. They gave me no trouble, they even mentioned that I'd been a customer since 2000 which is true but I never thought about just how long I've been using them. Damn.

I'm paranoid i'll start having more games come up missing now though -__- Hoping it was a misdelivery and not a theft.

It would be nice if there is something that can be fixed, but do we actually have concrete evidence of the same two players having varying quality games in 1v1?

I'm not saying this like Nintendo is known for having good networking in games (they're not), but I've messed with smaller scale networking stuff, and I'm an OCD-ish engineer, and I'm curious if there is anything that really can be fixed. If I'm playing someone who is a 300 ms ping from my current location, or a wifi connection with interference, or a lot of jitter on their ping, all the software and servers in the world won't fix that.

I don't know that the traffic is 100% P2P (there is the option to allow spectating, and the option to allow sending data to Nintendo, and I have those turned off), but there seems to be a strong enough correlation that I would like to investigate it.
 
Apparently due to the training I had in college playing free-for-alls with my hallmates has made me a beast at 4-person For Glory mode. So far I'm 3-1, a way better record than I have in 1 vs 1.
 
Have a 3DS grip now which should make this vastly more playable.

That CTA one seems pretty popular but wasn't available, got the Hori one since their stuff is usually not bad. It looks similar to their Vita one with retractable grips, which I have and like, but I don't pull the grips out. Five hours before I can try it out.

I think if you have two characters wanting a match with you, it unlocks characters descending. Because I just did a lot of online and went straight to Puff, then to Duck Hunt, then all the way down to R.O.B..

It would be funny if you intentionally pushed off unlocking someone so you could unlock all 12 of them in a row.
 
Charazard is harder to fight against than I expected. So much priority and armor on all his attacks.

Now here's a creature that's just poultry in motion. It usually minds its own business, but if you attack it, it'll call on all its little bird friends for help - a pretty foul tactic if you ask us. However, just let them get on with body-slamming you and don't fight back, and eventually they'll lose interest and stop driving you Cucco.

I really think it would benefit everyone if there was a separate thread for matching up with Gaffers. I was wanting to read through to see people's impressions of the game but had a lot to wade through.
 
Picked up Shulk first, and sadly, I don't think I'll play him much. His ground normals are so weird with their hitboxes and speeds. Love the character though.

I did not expect to like Duck Hunt as much as I do. He and Greninja are my favorites so far.

Side note, poor Falco. Poor, poor Falco.
 
I just had to try online during the 2AM-8AM nightime in this internet service.

And well, even when I have speedy internet, the ping is still like 800ish. So if you played against a Toon Link named AbbyVamp/AbbyVampire I am truly sorry. The lag...there are no words.

Just one more month and I should have better internet. One more month...
