aside from Falco, everything I've unlocked has been different from what I read on the internet, so I'm guessing there's a certain level of randomness on what stuff is unlocked when you complete certain conditions.

All I can really do is spam dodge roll but that doesn't work forever.

Went in mostly dark today. Adventure mode in Melee was my favourite bit of the series thus far, Smash Run might just knock it off its pedestal. Really nice surprise.

I've made a disturbing observation regarding adapting to Smash 4's 3DS controls. Anyone who has played a lot of the demo or full game might be able to corroborate.

So, most acknowledge that it's hard to do tilt/strong attacks with the circle pad. An analog stick affords a centimeter of extra fidelity which makes differentiating between basic/strong/smash a cinch. In the early goings on the 3DS, there are generally a lot of accidental smashes where the player actually intended a strong/tilt.

After hours and hours of play, though, you do acclimate to the circle pad and the tiny raccoon finger level of precision that it requires.

Smash players who are weak of heart may want to avoid this next distressing detail: after playing about two weeks of demo, my friends and I returned to Project M to give a few characters their farewells. And for quite a few matches, we couldn't smash reliably. Everything came out strong. Pushing the GCN's massive control pillar was a feat we could hardly imagine Samson pulling off. Our tiny raccoon hands had become so finely tuned to the awful circle pad that I was forced to envision a future where I willingly use my 3DS as a controller on Wii U.

I do have good news for anyone else ravaged by the sadistic whims of the circle pad: rehabilitation is possible. After a twenty minutes of warm-up, we began to smash again.

I don't want to become that monster ever again. I'm a human being, with inalienable rights.

But I'm in the throes of the full game and can feel the change overtaking me again. I'm frightened.

Wouldn't that stop the download since I have to go to the eShop? Not sure how does the 3ds handle multitasking while downloading.
 
To those who have been playing already: Does this make you more or less excited for the Wii U version? Like does it make you wanna play the upcoming one more or is the sense of wonder kinda killed coz you know the content already?


FYI I bought my copy at lunch (Gamestop sucks) and now I have to sit around for 5 more hours before playtime. Booo.

It won't just trust me. It won't start over either. I kept getting stalled all night. Every time I did what I said the download started again.
 
My right thumb hurts after playing for so long and pushing the buttons too hard (it didn't happen EVER to me in other 3DS games, and I played KIU a lot too). My circle pad looks fine, but I'm worried that it could get off at any minute.
 
Haven't been able to play much, but characters are way too easy to unlock, in addition to the starting roster, and there are a laughable number of challenges.

Liking Shulk though.

I would run through classic and use the menu trick to hit the wrenches if you have to. It's pretty luck based but if you hit the wrenches it shouldn't take too long.

I only have about 50 trophies on the US version, but I still noticed I have some that I don't have in my JPN copy where I've collected 450. If only there was some trophy trade system.

Too early to tell at the moment but I'm very excited in the prospect of the Wii U version, even more than I was before messing around with the 3DS version.

The 3DS game is the MGS2 Tanker demo to the Wii U's Sons of Liberty.

More because the 3DS circle pad does not compare to analog and I want to see this stuff in HD. I love the 3DS version so far, but I want to see what the Wii U can do.

I don't see the menu you are talking about, I go to settings, then download, but it will just show up my recently downloaded stuff with an option to redownload smash again (I think from the beginning)

I should have been more clear sorry. When the download starts stalling for no reason. Go to the eShop. Click on Smash. Look for download/re-download/download again it's all the same thing. When you choose that you will see Download later. Pick that specific option. Go to your home menu and don't look at the progress of Smash just close the DS. In 5 minutes check. It will either be done or at the very least past 91%.


Every time I opened my 3DS to check on the progress the download would stall for what ever reason even after closing it again. This is what helped me.

Can someone explain how you swap Shulk's Monado arts to me? I know its his neutral special, but I can't seem to swap them with consistency. Do you have to hold it down? Are there conditions you have to meet?

I think he will appear after playing any other match.

play a normal vs match against 1 cpu and he should "challenge you" again after that.
 
I just got my copy in Mexico and saw a lot of people picking up the game at the same time, seems that it is a hit here, considering this is one of the smaller cities in Mexico.

I can't wait to get home in 4 hours and unlock every character.
