Rosters are hard especially when you can't find decent images. Oh well.

Early Japanese tier list:

https://game8.jp/matome/14157

Thoughts?

I think MK, Marth/Lucina, PAC Man, and Bowser Jr. are a lot better than they think.
Jesus. No way Robin is D-tier and NO WAY Palutena is the worst character in the game.

Yeah list isn't that accurate. Samus is a beast and Ness too. Palutena is a character which you have to learn for a long time to use her really good, but she has the tools.

So my copy arrived today and is ready for pick-up after work :-D Thank you amazon.de and thank you Nintendo of Europe for releasing the game a day early here in germany :D

Time for FORKSMASH VOLUME 5. If you don't know, I am playing every character online in 1v1 For Glory mode, each time against a new person. The wins aren't coming easily, but I play for FUN not to win. Or at least that's what I tell myself. I am the first fighter listed.

Volume 1
Volume 2
Volume 3
Volume 4

Ness vs. Donkey Kong

This DK wasn't pink, blasphemous! The battle started with him charging his punch and myself trying to spam PK Fire and missing. I potshotted him whenever I could and tried to dodge his big attacks. He couldn't dodge my yo-yo correctly most of the time so I got a few good hits in. He grabbed the first stock though with his mega charged punch. Shouldn't that have worn off by then? I tied it up with a questionable aerial attack. I honestly didn't know it connected, at first I thought DK hit me with his down air. You know in samurai moves when two guys duel and they just kinda stand there until one of them falls over? It was exactly that but in the air and with a monkey. I sat at 56% and things were looking grim, but I managed to get some big smash attacks in, including a fully charged side smash that he ran into. There were so many moments when both of us were a millisecond away from claiming victory, but he closed it out with a big punch. Good match though, probably one of the most tense I've had in Forksmash. Winner: Donkey Kong

Captain Falcon vs. Kirby

Gaur Plains with You Will Know Our Names in the background. Could this be anything but an epic battle? I snatched a clear advantage early on, but I kept getting caught in Kirby's infinite jabs and smashes. I couldn't land anything to save my life and he blocked all of my smashes and immediately followed up with a grab. My grab game is so terrible in this game and I don't know why, I always miss them by a mile. Kirby basically just poked me like I was an ape in a cage and then finished me off with some smashes. Winner: Kirby

Villager vs. Yoshi

Keep spamming those fucking eggs Yoshi you cheap piece of Winner: Yoshi

Olimar vs. Sonic

Olimar is one of those guys I just cannot play. I don't care about learning him, I don't care about his technique, I just. Don't. Care. Sonic basically just rolled into me the entire time until I devised a brilliant strategy: just start throwing Pikmin. This tactic was so incredible that I literally ran out the five minute time limit. He killed me in sudden death, thus making everything an incredible waste. CAN I PLEASE WIN. Winner: Sonic

Wii Fit Trainer vs. Toon Link

Wii Fit Trainer is one of my favorite newcomers that simply doesn't get enough love. This Toon Link wasn't very spammy with his projectiles which was a relief, and I actually managed to hit him a few times with some well-timed sun salutations. Not only did I win, I didn't even lose a single stock. COMEBACK TIME. Winner: Wii Fit Trainer

Dr. Mario vs. Mega Man

Begun, the clone wars have. Did you know you can deflect Mega Man's side smash with the cape? You can! I was smacking him harder than Capcom does until he started to spam that fucking tornado. That thing goes on for way to long and I always botch my block and roll. If you roll backwards, you're just going to get caught by that fucking thing and if you roll forwards, he's so far away from you that he's just going to do it again. Dr. Mario lost because he's the worst, just the worst. Winner: Mega Man

Dark Pit vs. Ike

Fucking Dark Pit. What's the point of the double shield move if there's such a long reset time afterwards that Ike can just fucking grab you. It's like you're basically trading a strike for a grab. Fucking Dark Pit. Winner: Ike

Lucina vs. Samus

Welcome to the world's most boring game of keep away. Every time I tried to get close, she would just scoot away and try to peg me with lasers. Eventually I could predict her rolls and dodges well enough to land in some strong attacks. When fighting projectile heavy characters, Lucina feels like an armless man in a wheelchair. You really can't afford to mess up or the opponent will just chip off your health (or is it chip on your damage? I don't know). Luckily I was patient and managed to secure a victory, thus proving Lucina is the best clone. Winner: Lucina

Forksmash record: 17-27. There goes my .500 record. I really shouldn't play at this time of the day, only good people are on. Only one more row to go! I'll try to crunch some numbers and break down the most common opponent, who I lost most to etc.

After playing 90 hours of the retail game I don't think that JPN early early tier list is TOO inaccurate at this point, my personal opinions feel pretty similar, though I wouldn't rank them so specifically like they did there.

Combine A and B as "High", combine C and D as "Mid", and E as "Low" and it's not too offbase I feel.

I do think Robin's lack of range does hurt him a lot even if Arcfire is amazing, but I also feel he's held back by the 3DS control scheme. It's pretty difficult to be accurate in doing aerial moves and being able to pick Bronze or Levin sword with the Circle Pad and being able to jump around all over the place. I think he'll shine more to the Japanese players over time + when people use him with a GC controller.

Tier lists are based on tournament results and character matchups.

We hardly have any details for either, and even once early "real" tier lists start popping up those won't be entirely accurate and will change over time as the metagame develops.

See: http://www.ssbwiki.com/List_of_SSBB_tier_lists_(NTSC)

Well of course, it'll change over time and develop once the metagame does. I do think it's as accurate as it can be with such limited data though. It's really just a guesstimation list if anything, which is why I don't like how they labeled it A-E this early on.

My order says guaranteed delivery by 8pm this friday, how trustworthy is amazon with that?
To their credit I ordered some toys for my dog that shipped today and I'll apparently be getting them tomorrow. Maybe I just have one of their warehouses nearby?

Mine claims Friday 9pm latest.

The Assault voice actors have always been the best, so I vastly preferred Fox's Brawl voice. That being said though, I did grow up with SF64, so hearing Fox's old dorky voice in Smash is pretty awesome from a nostalgic point of viewpoint. I like it.

Oh and Falco's voice is just plain awesome like it always is. GET SOME

I wanna hear Falco so bad. Lol.

This is what I want for character DLC

Toad
Toon Zelda
Isabelle (all three due to the New 3DS commercial)
Paper Mario
Ashley
Doc Louis
Wonder Red
Dixie Kong
Ridley
Marshal
Mewtwo
Wolf
Lucas
Ice Climber
Squirtle
Bulbasaur
Inkling
Louie
Samurai Goroh

And then alts

1. All of the ones from the commercial
2. Dry Bowser (for Bowser)
3. Masked Dedede (for Dedede)
4. Daisy (for Peach)
5. Galactica Knight (for Meta Knight)
6. Roy (for Marth)
7. Funky Kong (for DK)
8. Boshi (for Yoshi)
9. Tetra (for Toon Zelda)
10. Cosmic alts for Mario, Luigi, and Rosalina
11. Toadette (for Toad)
12. Krystal (for Fox)
13. Paula (for Ness)
14. Black Shadow (for Captain Falcon)
15. Blood Falcon (for Captain Falcon)
16. Brittany (for Louie)
17. Ms. Pac-Man (for Pac-Man)

Honestly, I think we are far more likely to see new alt costumes than characters, just because it doesn't require any balancing work at all. My tiering goes:

1. Alts and alt costumes
2. Planned veterans
3. Planned newcomers
4. Unplanned veterans
5. Unplanned newcomers

I don't think we are going to get any non-alt DLC characters ever.

I also doubt we'll see any significant balance patches, they will probably just patch out bugs or anything that is deemed "broken."

Duck Hunt is really strong, and i'm also glad to see Captain Falcon a little bit higher than usual, he's good as well in Smash 4 (If you don't use his downB)

He was good in 64 and great in Melee, Brawl was the only time he was bad.

And I don't know why Sakurai is bent on making the Falcon Kick useless. Have it give you your second jump back to aid in recovery and reduce that absolutely ridiculous landing lag after you use it in the air and it would be decent.

Same with Raptor Boost. Falcon and good specials are just not an acceptable combination I guess.

If anyone, preferably in the UK, is selling that Gamecube controller mod for 3DS, for a reasonable price. I'd be interested in buying it.

Guess what I got in the mail.

Thanks Amazon.fr

Wow 'pre-ordered' yesterday at 1pm and it's just been delivered now.
Free delivery too!

Mine was dispatched yesterday and it arrived today :P

Im still at work though.

Germany here, so I guess that why I got it already today :P

Yet Amazon UK still hasn't even bothered with it.

Well if you chose first class delivery I expect them to dispatch Thursday for Friday delivery.

They told me it'd ship Oct 1st. Today is Oct 1st.

Is there a compendium of custom moves somewhere? I know a kind GAFer was making these extensive posts with screenshots, but I can'T seem to find them.

I'm not sure if anyone saw my previous question, but I'm still curious. Does anyone know what determines when Little Mac loses his KO Uppercut? I've seen him lose it after a certain amount of time passes where he hasn't used it yet. I've also seen him lose it when he gets hit, however, I also see him getting hit a few times and still keep it. Does it have to do with how hard he gets hit or his percentage or how many times or something?

Those were JoeInky's.

Here are videos of all of them: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-vQf5rVyPXBqMLvjBS8Pma0ZIC_32eG9

Warning: some of the videos are terrible. Dedede's in particular has him spend fifteen minutes testing something that isn't even exclusive to the custom move. Skipping through is advised.

Reminds me of when Phoenix Wright said TAKE THIS! Instead of TAKE THAT! Was super stupid. They patched it in, but the removed the only thing that hoped to make him viable in competitive play in the process.

And on that tier list, eh. I feel like this game is naturally going to have better balance than Melee and Brawl, but naturally characters are going to be better than others.

What's the deal with Ike? I was hoping he'd get some noticible changes but it looks like he was changed less than Ganondorf. I never hear anything about him, and seeing people say they think he might suck is gonna give my main friend I play with nothing to be hype about. He's all about dat Ike.

Is it possible to equip bunny hood, Franklin badge, metal box, screw attack, smoke ball, star, curry, flower on head, back shield, rocket belt and super leaf all at the same time?
