Ok asking again because last time I did this it ended up in Penis jokes.

What are the differences between Lucina and Marth other than the "sword tip" stuff?

I feel that way, but I only have the demo and play against AI. Maybe it is less of a problem in other situations.

So far, it's been much more of a problem going against people online than it is against the AI for me. There's really not many punishes for it, unless your character has great grab range. Most moves that break shields have enough start up that you can avoid getting hit by them. Shield stabbing percentage takes too long to get to, can often be avoided by dodging the shield stabbing move, and shields regenerate back too quickly to use this often. It really slows down the pace of online play, and often makes the game feel more like a game of shields and grabs, or who has the better grab range.

On a side note, Palutena is the most boring character to go up against. Doesn't do damage that quickly, but takes forever to die. It's the Smash equivalent of fighting Blissey with a special sweeper.

Lucina's sword deals damage evenly throughout the whole blade while marth relies on tippers for max damage/knockback.

Meta Knight sill has an Spanish accent.

Fox disses Falco:
"Better luck next time, Falco."

Falco disses Fox :
"You're off your game, Fox!"

Lucina disses Marth and Ike:
"And they called you the Radiant Hero?"
"THIS is the hero king?"

Dark Pit disses Pit
"Where is your goddess now?"

Palutena disses Dark Pit and Pit
"Poor little Pittoo?"
"Oh, so sorry about this Pit." (She is not!)

Male Robin is nice to Lucina:
"Lucina, i hope i didn't hurt you."

Female Robin disses Lucina:
"How can you protect Chrom, when you can't protect yourself?"

Strangely Sonic, Lucario and Wii Fit Trainer are the only character speaking German in the German version.

We're finally getting character specific win quotes in Smash? Those are always the best thing. Now all I need are rival cutscenes.

I think this sounds like a great idea! Sunday works pretty well for me most weeks, so I'd love to play regularly. We'll also have voice chat up and running by next week if you want to incorporate that.
People would be free to use whatever form of communication they like, but VOIP takes up a good amount of bandwidth, so don't use it while you are playing your matches.
Gaf, how bad is the lag between US and Asia is? I'm on South America but I wanted to play badly with US people lol
Depends on your Internet connection as well as your opponent's (opponents') connection(s).
I'd be up for it, though timezone wise if it's Sunday night US time it might be Monday morning my time, aka I'd possibly be at work.
I would absolutely be down for this! Seeing as I'm living in Japan, though, I'm perpetually 13-14 hours ahead of EST, meaning that scheduling could be difficult. If it takes place around 5-7 PM EST, I could probably participate since I don't leave for work until a little after 9 AM JST. :D
Times for Australia and Japan are going to be hard to incorporate for me sadly. :/

Others that are better suited than me can hopefully try weekly ones at times better suited for people in Japan, Australia, and Europe timezones.

The GAF tournaments that are much more time friendly are the ones that aren't limited to one day like Troubled Bat's Super Bash Sisters tournament and I'm sure
I'd be down. Sunday is good for me and the formats seem fine as well.

edit: Not sure if this is a good idea, but how do you feel about having multiple eight man tournaments running simultaneously with the winners of each facing each other afterward if there's 16/32 players?
Yea, the simultaneous 8-person brackets is what I meant, but you worded it better lol. And the winners facing each other is a good idea.

Only issue is it may be confusing with 4 different brackets (I think 2 should be fine), but I think that would only affect the person who is maintaining the brackets.
I would probably enter. Should be fun. I think more than 32 people would want in, at least in the first few weeks. If there are a lot of entrants maybe do separate tournaments at different times/days.
Yea, I think a lot of people would try to join in the first few weeks. I am most likely going to start this on Oct 19th, so maybe some people will become uninterested lol. Maybe have a test run on the 12th.

I can see a format like this helping with 64 players:
64 players single elimination till top 8 where it is double elimination

Though going north of 32 players may be a nightmare to handle lol.
Would we have a thread during those days or would it be easier to have an available chatroom?
I am thinking of making a separate thread to keep it from the OT. And I think an IRC chatroom would be easier for people to use. They have a private chat feature so you can talk to your opponent privately in the IRC as well. Can also use the voice chat solution by Oric. Could also use PMs to organize matches with your opponent.

Communication is going to be the hardest part about to maintain in a one-day online tournament. Hopefully that won't be a problem, though I imagine as time passes by, it would be easier with regulars showing up or something.

Thanks for the responses, made me think more about it. It doesn't even have to strictly be tournaments either. Could be a long running round robin sort of thing with league standings and stuff. A round robin thing would allow people to have matches whenever they want, no entry limit, and would have some sort of competition with other GAF members.

I just want some sort of competition that is regularly held cause it would be pretty interesting.

They were in Brawl, but only between the Spacies. All of the new interactions in this game are between one or more new characters.

Read this as "the Species" and thought it was a new, creepy way to refer to Star Fox characters.

As long as Meta Knight is a Spaniard, I'm happy.

Speaking of Smash Bros., anyone else ever think that Ness's 64 voice sounded vaguely German? That's how I processed it as a kid, anyway. He's that weird German kid from Smash Bros.

The gap between Japanese and US release was so fucking stupid.

Agreed. I don't understand the logic behind it other than "production" for the bigger countries and such but even *that* is a stretch. Nintendo could have done a worldwide release on Sept. 13th.

And the sad thing is, it's going to happen again with the Wii U version as Sakurai has already gone out and said in one of the PotDs that the Wii U version will be dropping first in Japan just like the 3DS version. :/

BUT I, at least, understand that because Nintendo wants to capitalize on Black Friday. The 3DS version gap was completely illogical, though.

I don't recall him saying that, and I highly doubt they don't do a worldwide release for the Wii U version.
That said, announce the dates already so I can import a Wii U if I have to.
