(ZSS' Down B infinite on Robin only works on Robin and requires a custom move)

And it was only because of a bug, which I've seen someone say was patched. ZSS didn't get a footstool bounce on Robin like she was supposed to which is what let her follow up right beside him to do the infinite.

I would, but the Wii U version isn't out yet.

Edit: I realized that could be construed as a bit inflammatory. I just don't feel any strong pull to get the 3DS version. I respect those that do want it though. I still wouldn't mind facing you in the Wii U version.

I wouldn't be getting the Wii U version any time soon. :( I have to get a Wii U first, and that wouldn't be till like next year.

The problem people seem to be voicing the most about Smash 4 isn't character balance (in fact most characters so far seem to all show surprising prowess with no major disadvantages, which in a way bodes well for tournament variety). It's the game apparently not being an interesting spectator sport.

Which I don't really agree with personally, even if I thought the former was a huge issue with Melee and that both those flaws were heavily prevalent in Brawl. Personally I think SSB4 is a lot of fun to watch and I can't wait to see the metagame develop.

If CoD can overtake Halo after years of dominance (Halo CE frikkin created MLG), then Smash 4 can be huge in the tournament scene. The support from the fans has to be there and things will happen. As long as the views and interest is maintained, there will be competitive Smash 4 on a large scale.

Keep watching and supporting Smash 4 streams, Smash 4 events, etc. and it'll be fine.

I don't think this is the point of the argument that's currently happening is it?

Of course it's going to be fine in terms of things happening, especially with Nintendo becoming more involved in the community.

What I and others are worried about is whether the game is actually going to be something we actually enjoy and want to support a year or two down the line.

Smash 4 will be competitive, will it be a competitive game that I enjoy? Who knows at the moment, it feels too boring and limited so far to be something I'll be playing a year from now, but that's all up in the air.

This is coming from a spectator viewpoint only as I'm just not good enough at melee or smash 4 to go too deep into mechanic discussions.

I have read lots and lots of Threads over the last few weeks because I really want to play Smash 4 more serious. But reading those Thread, as a person who is not in the Smash Community, it's really offputting.

Anyways, I'm still planing to enjoy Smash 4 and get good at it and wanted to ask if there is a friend code sharing thread or something.

Wow, just went through Leffen's twitter.

It's his opinion and all, but seriously, just because someone else enjoys the game and you don't doesn't mean their opinion is biased or they're some "fanboy".

What a self absorbed ass he is. Let people enjoy the game they want. I swear sometimes melee fans can have some reasonable opinions, but sometimes do they really have to shout their opinion in your face?

The metagame hasn't even been explored in Smash 4 yet. Jesus.

I'll laugh if Smash 4 starts to take over competitive scenes and, just like history repeating itself, melee's gonna need some donations to keep it afloat. Mind you, I love smash in general and really enjoy melee as a different experience from the other titles but damn, it's like if you enjoy Smash 4...you're a supposed fanboy...

Leffen is a known asshole, don't assume everyone is like him.

MLG ain't shit though......also Halo over-relied on them

not to mention lolHalo4
That's part of my point, MLG is small time compared to the millions of people who will be playing Smash 4 at events around the world. It's already more competitively viable than Brawl was, so now that we'll have a functional online system (still shocked at how people play Brawl online till this day lol.. it's default 6 frames on a godlike connection, just imagine on a poor connection (6 frames is a lot of input delay for those who don't know)) we're going to see the potential for competitive Smash fully realized, or at least more than we've seen before.

If its neutral game is entertaining, it will be fine. If it's neutral game is anything like Brawl (e.g players literally standing there waiting for someone to do something because they don't want to commit to anything) then it will not be fun to watch. The neutral game needs to be active for me to get into it -- movement, zoning, putting out hitboxes, etc etc. And IF games aren't super long (seriously 8 minute timer for Brawl was a mistake and to a lesser extent for Melee as well).

I'll probably enjoy playing the game regardless but for me to watch it, it needs to have an active and interesting neutral game (because it's definitely not going to be offensive based like Melee).

liking things is cool and not liking things is also ok (i mean in an ideal world everything would be peaches and gravy for everyone but that's unrealistic) but telling people that they shouldn't like thing or should like thing isn't cool

i have really enjoyed my time playing super smash bros for nintendo 3ds thus far and think it is a very fun game. there are some things in the most recent japanese tournament that i did not think were all that fun to watch but there were also a lot of things i did think were fun to watch so i will wait to see how that shapes up.

those are the extent of my thoughts on the matter

...On second thought... WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ?
"objectively"

oh god i'm getting traumatic flashbacks to the smash OT

Also while I get why, what with the benefit of the doubt Brawl was given at its time of release, it's a bit of a bummer Smash 4 while probably not the being the game Melee fans wanted is going to have to suffer for most of the former game's fuckups in regards to mechanics. From what I've played and seen 4 reeeeeeeeeally isn't another Brawl situation again, but if people that personally invested in the competitive aspect of the series are paranoid they'll get burned again, staying neutral until the meta-game develops more seems to make more sense than attacking it by default. It does nothing but just drag down the image of a fanbase that's already been trying to overcome its big image problem, both from mainstream gamers and the wider fighting game community.

Oh hey, let's see what is going on in SmashGAF....

*same arguments about a game that has yet to fucking release worldwide*

...I'll see y'all later.

Maybe someone here can answer this;
later this week, 4 of my friends are going to get together to play some smash. 3 of us have a 3DS and will be buying smash. My 4th friend just wants to try it with us.

What im planning is to take my other 3DS and get the demo on that. Im trying to figure out is this; if we have 3 people playing in local mode, will that communicate with the demo? So like, could we 3 play regularly in local mode and then have the 4th playing in the demo...would that work?

"In fact, we recreated all characters almost from scratch"- Sakurai 2014, about Smash 4.

This is a complete lie, and that shit is NOT okay

lol didn't some of you guys on here whoop leffen on some online matches?

no wonder he's so mad. someone give this kid some ice cream.

It's not even a lie really. They re-used a lot of animations, but characters really did get rebalanced a lot. They really did a good job making every veteran feel fresh again.

When can I play as a folder in Smash

They should add a Folder hat for Miis.

My apologies, I meant to say "some" smash fans. This goes both ways for Smash 4 or Brawl fans that will openly tear apart melee fans.

That's only thing that bothers me about these discussions lol. I think it's fine if people criticize the games whether it's negative or positive, but once people start throwing insults, bad generalizations or whatever around it gets pretty stupid. ` - `

You'd be surprised how good competitive scenes are at trying to tear each other down for each scene's own gain.

It fucking sucks because in the end, it puts off people that are looking on from the side who have interests in joining in (expanding the scene overall)... or especially happen to be a part of the supposedly "lesser" scene.

It is infuriating and demoralizing when all you really want to do is play your game and have competition to play with.

Why this is so hard to understand, I don't know.

I guess people just get so fixated on what they personally like and perceive to be good, that they will make it a point to shit on whoever or whatever doesn't confirm to their game(s) of choice. A certain play style or mindset becomes "wrong" or boring, when really its more the people and the personalities surrounding it that make it exciting in the first place.

Not speaking from a point of innocence though, as I've done it too and I'm trying to curb that behavior myself. Looking back, I'm kind of ashamed of some of the shit I've thought about games I didn't even understand.

End of the day, realize though that its also usually not the majority that acts that way, on either side. The majority is usually quiet.

Hatch, I doubt this guy's gonna think coherently like you (among many other sensible smash fans) are about the characters in smash 4. He obviously isn't thinking straight. I'd love to see him try game development since he claims Sakurai's lieing.

I don't think this is the point of the argument that's currently happening is it?
I was adding to it with the implication that with all the support it will get and already having a base much better than Brawl's, combined with online and the popularity of streams, that Smash 4 will be alright on all fronts, competitive viability and as a spectator.

That being said, you have some sound concerns, as do I, but I think we'll be fine
until the next Smash/DLC/updates come out and we repeat this process
.

Everytime I try to recreate this in the demo it just flips Villager the other way around. Does it just come down to having exact timing or is there something specific I'm missing here?
You have to make sure that the cape only hits the bowling ball. It's really a matter of spacing.

Speaking of, one of my favorite things to do against a Lv.9 AI Villager in the demo is cape them when they try to recover high with Lloid Rocket, which they do often lol.

It looks to me the switch happens the moment Villager drops the ball. The item has to be released from the Villager before it comes into play for getting reversed.

EDIT: Or spacing, I don't have the game so trust the people that have it.

I think your average person would assume that quote meant they just re-balanced characters and tweaked some moves/animations so they felt 'different' to their Brawl incarnations, rather than thinking there was going to be nothing remotely ported over and everything was made from square one in Smash 4.

Level 9 Villagers are honestly pretty dumb; they constantly just seem to Lloid Rocket at the top of teh stage and drop down in a fall state which leaves them wide open for anything really. Really only have problems facing Pikachu and weirdly enough Mega Man.
