GT: "Sunset Overdrive is my most anticipated XB1 game, period!"

The GT stream is bugged, I got an Doorway (or something like that) trailer. LOL
But I'm really looking forward to SO too! =)

This has been my most anticipated XB1 games since the pre-E3 2014 reveal. I hope the multiplayer has staying power. I know I'll want to play this game for a long time.

Also, I see Percy is filling in quite nicely during Dragonborn's absence.

What is the point of this post?

I don't know. It's trying to be a troll post... I think. It's confusing for sure.

EDIT: It would be kind of like posting the Japanese XB1 launch photos in this thread.

Still waiting.

Console warzzzz!!!

I'm never ceased to be amazed at the great lengths some people on this forum go to just to downplay. Incredible.

Anyway, I really wish there was a demo coming out for this so I could get familiar with the controls before it releases.

Looks like MS has yet to turn on the marketing machine for the game. Considering it'll be bundled, I'm guessing it'll happen soon.

I have been seeing previews and segments for it in the pre-show thing at the movie theater since I saw guardians of the galaxy. Besides that, yeah not much marketing yet

Yeah somehow I've seen lots of interviews about this game, or little leaks about the gameplay. But I still feel that I know too little about it... maybe because I have made no search really. But I have no idea about the map size or the mission system, or even if it will have a story with an end and everything. I really know too little...

However, by what I've seen on some of those Sunset channels, it was looking pretty fun to play. But my hype is controlled due to not knowing what to expect yet.

Downloaded the video. The game looks so fun to play and is a looker.

I hope it doesn't turn out to be a "Fuse" situation, that's my only concern.

There are a couple games in October that I'm still not sold on. For now I'm not buying Sunset Overdrive or Evil Within because I'm just not convinced.

A demo for them would clear it up. One of the reviewers likens SO to Infamous. Well I didn't go into Infamous blind, I tried the demo out first. The demo sold me on the game.

People keep bringing up Fuse but honestly was anyone excited for that game before it came out? Derp.

This game looks like a ton of fun, and I love the customization and fashion of it, its the first create-your-character game that I'll actually want to play as a guy during because they'll actually look trendy and slick/sleek.

Reasons for me to get an Xbone:
Sunset Overdrive (and its white Xbone)
Master Chief Collection
Scalebound

We were excited and interested by the reveal trailer but when it got toned down and made more less weird and cartoony and more "serious" because of 12 year olds in a focus group then people started to lose interest.

So far I'm more convinced on the multiplayer end than I am on the single player.

On the multiplayer videos you're shown clear objectives, you're show the beginning and end, you see basically everything involved. The OD come, you kill them until you have traps, rinse and repeat. No problem with that.

For what it's worth, I played through 2 SP missions, which took me around 45 minutes (had to learn the controls as well). Both had clear objectives, one of which I had to meet a member of some faction and retrieve something for them and the other I had to destroy a train on a rollercoaster. It's like GTA, in that you go somewhere to get your mission, but can get entirely distracted whilst you go about things. It's up to you really.

Exactly. Once the art style changed, FUSE went from interesting to being totally forgotten. I feel like everyone knew it was going to be a bad game before it was released. That doesn't seem to be the case with Sunset Overdrive.

Game looks good , but I think I will paas on it. I don't like the idea that you need to be constantly moving or you die. I don't know it just me. I will demo it ...

IIRC, Fuse had a different creative director to Sunset Overdrive, which is being directed by the two guys who did Resistance 3 (and presumably the other ones).

New direction, new publisher, a game that looks great.

Bring on October 31st

I get rachet and clank vibes from this. Combat does anyway, not sure how the overworld works or mission or what ever formula it uses to drive the game forward.

Before the E3 I was : ok, looks pretty fun.
After the E3 and some match I was : Awesome I can't wait !!!!

Right now it's one of my most anticipated game of this season!

This is what I plan using all that Gamestop credit I got during the summer on, so my risk of investment is pretty low.

but I was getting it anyways, looks really goofy/fun :)

That actually made it more appealing to me. I kind of got a Shinobi PS2 vibe from the VideoGamerTV video. Should keep the game from getting boring as long as it controls well.

Watched one of the vids. October needs to hurry its ass up and get here.

I got more of a Dead Rising feel with that kitty cannon deal. Gonna be a hell of a good time, I hope.

Hype justified, imo.

What a weird post to make about a game that's not even released yet

It has the potential to be a lot of fun, but I'm not sold on it 100%. I'll rent it for a week when it launches and see what I think.

The on-rails stuff worries me.

Yeah, for the last four or five years Insomniac has been promising all kinds of cool shit but never really delivered. I don't think anything after R&C: ACiT has been worth my time, really.

But I still love Insomniac overall so I want my fears to be proven wrong, I want the game to be awesome and sell a lot

Wait what? You die if you stop moving? Is that actually a game mechanic, or are you just saying that if you stop moving, you'll likely get swarmed by enemies?

I got linked to some GAF Fortress World of Warcraft nonsense, but I'll take your word for it, OP. Microsoft's got a solid Christmas.

Bolded is what it is, not a game mechanic. You can stop moving all you like, but once you start fighting and the OD can reach your position, you'll get overwhelmed.

Theres just something about Sunset Overdrive that isn't clicking with me. I mean,I absolutely adore the art style and their promise of fast paced, wacky weaponry and humour should be hitting all the right buttons for me...

But then when I see the game in motion its just not doing it for me. It looks like it needs t obe sped up about 1.5 times more, the weapons while creative sorta lack that spark id get from a R&C arsenal and most of the gameplay thats been shown has just been traversal, shooting, wacky enviorments.... but no actual missions or structure to tell me what to expect other than, for lack of a better phrase, mindless shooting (mindless shooting in of itself can be fun as hell)

It's definitely one of those games I'm going to need to actually play before I can tell if its for me or not.

The game's visuals are great, but the demo I played at Fan-expo was too short and limited for me to get hyped. I also felt that way about the FH2 fan-expo demo, and then the actual demo came out and I saw the brilliance of that game. soo. Here's hoping.

Don't care much for it. It reminds me of DR 3 - looks like it could be fun to play until you realize that the game is essentially you vs hundreds of mindless bots that have the most basic of ai script.

I hope for the sake of the fledgling XBO that this game turns out to be decent. Otherwise, things are going to be tough.

Thanks for the vids !

few precisions for those who are interested :

the first one shows the most of a new b-roll footage, while the last one shows live playthrough (screener) where we can (for the first time) hear the game's sounds rather well (though it's a screener so quality isn't top).

I love the High Fidelity's sound, and the various bouncing sounds sound great too.

Edit : also : dat draw distance @ 6:18

Intrigued to see how the full game shakes out. Been a hard game to get a pulse on exactly how it be. For some time there it felt like the only thing we were seeing was guy grinding on powerlines shooting grunts. I doubt that is all the game is.

It looks fun, my only gripe is that it's looked kind of clunky and unpolished so far, with a dodgy framerate to boot. This type of game screams out for 60fps, but if they can keep it at a solid 30fps then that's at least something.

Definitely looks unique compared to all the other retail games coming this Fall.

On media blackout so won't be watching any videos that contain gameplay but it's good to hear the word on this game is still good.

But man come on MS/IG a demo for this would be aces.
