Well, I think what's really important in this discussion is people understanding the basic concepts to the point where they can make an informed decision for themselves. Just saying "FUCK TN I WANT IPS/VA OR BUSSSSST" doesn't actually help anyone aside from making people "pick sides" because some respected community member prefers that type of panel.
IPS destroys TN when it comes to colors/contrast/viewing angles, and to some people, these things are what's important. When you're looking at low motion content this will always be the preferable choice and there you go.
However, unless you've seen a TN panel displaying fast motion while in 120Hz/Strobing mode for yourself, it really is an unfair judgment to make. I can literally read text on my BenQ XL2420 while scrolling quickly down a webpage when I have Lightboost on, it's crazy. I can track moving images as if they were standing still, much like when you focus on a moving object in real life. That shit isn't supposed to look blurry if it's what you're tracking. For me, this is more important for "immersion" (not to mention gameplay itself) than seeing a couple more shades of really dark/really bright or saturated colors. Now, I really do wish there were technologies out there that gave us the best of both worlds, but right now it seems to me like you need to make a choice.
Granted, I haven't tried the Eizo VA panel yet. Maybe that's part of the solution? Still, I hope this panel pays off for Asus and convinces them to forge ahead with new high refresh rate technologies. I won't be buying it yet since I am quite happy with my BenQ for now, but a future version of said panel is definitely something I'm interested in unless something even better comes along by then.
