Jason Momoa cast as Aquaman in Batman v Superman DoJ

Jesus Christ at putting me in a position to defend this movie but multiple characters appearing in the film is not detrimental to anything. See: just about any episode of Justice League.

It mostly all comes down to the script and context of said appearances.
I agree. It's not about the numbers. Avengers proved that a talented writer can make it work.
But you've just made a false equivalence though. JL didn't need to re-introduce Batman, Lex Luthor etc. This movie has to, with its new batman and new Lex etc.
Justice League show also had amazing talent behind the scenes. These are the people that should have been writing all of these movies in my humble opinion.
Another point is, just because there's a one time oscar winner doing re-writes, doesn't mean it'll be good, or that he can handle these characters, or understand them well enough.

Aquaman's going to steal Justice League. Watch and see if it doesn't happen.

Everyone thought Quicksilver was going to be a giant suckhole, too. And then they watched the movie.

Lol no. I really don't see that happening. They'll keep the universes separate.

So far, Arrow kept itself very contained. The most aggressive thing this show did was to cast Flash.

We will find out if universes are connected if one day we see Zod's TV broadcast in Arrow/Flash.

Unless Snyder/Terrio/Goyer are going to do a major time jump and largely handwave away the events of MoS - which, actually, I would be fine with but am definitely not expecting - I don't see how that has anything to do with BvS or what it's seemingly trying to do.

As far as we know, it's a direct sequel to a film that did nothing to establish superheroes or superpowers as preexisting concepts, and established no in-universe basis for superpowers other than being a Kryptonian. It's not at all comparable to any of the films you mention, in which the existence of superheroes is a long-established part of that universe (Incredibles, Watchmen), or there's a one-size-fits-all explanation for superpowers (X-Men), or the characters are introduced more or less simultaneously and have a shared origin (TMNT).
How many times are we gonna go through the same shit? In Man of Steel, Superman is only the first superhero to be known publicly.

Along with Wayne Enterprises and S.T.A.R. Labs, MoS references Aquaman lore. It's subtle, but there's no mistaking it. Look it up, it's been pointed out in several of these threads already.

Momoa just instagramed this photo

surely to all aquaman haters :P

Semantics but he isn't doing a rewrite. He's writing the screenplay from Goyer's story.

A brief onscreen appearance by the logo of a fictional corporation that has appeared in Aquaman comics does nothing to set up the actual in-universe existence of Aquaman or Atlanteans, sorry.

How so? He was a badass in this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_League:_The_Flashpoint_Paradox

Justice League The Flashpoint Paradox animated movie. He had way more powers than I imagined based on all the ridicule I've heard of his character over the years. He commanded a huge, advanced army with all kinds of cool water tech. He was also super strong physically.

DC has tried many, many times to make him "More badass!" over the years. After most of those fell flat, they then basically made him Namor.

"Fuck character building movies and origin stories guys, we need to catch up to Marvel. Just throw 'em all in next movie so we can get this Justice League shit going already." This is going to be such a clusterfuck that I want to see it just to see how bad it is.

Sigh...I suppose we won't stop getting these reactions till the movie releases.

Had no idea who hawkeye or the falcon was until I watched avengers/winter soldier. Those movies were such shit awful garbage trash. My mind was obliterated by the concept of a man who shoots arrows and another man who straps on mechanical wings and flew. I wish I read all the back issues so my mind was prepared.

this movie is gonna be so bloated i mean they have 2 hours to fill with what, 5 characters? using some math that's only like 24 minutes on screen for each of them!

Supposed to be the Man of Steel sequel....
lol

Not really. WB wanted to include Batman because MOS disappointed WB at the BO. WB added more super heroes because they want to generate money. Here´s the WB release list through 2018. MOS2 is coming in 2018 because WB hopes that it could build enough of his followers/fans to be very big and profitable franchise.

May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam
Xmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2

This is a needless worry. Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman Aquaman and Cyborg are not going to have the same amount of screentime. Batman and Superman will have most of it, WW will be third and I'm guessing the other two will be 30 second cameos at best.

Yup I mean just look what was posted immediately after your post:

Can you really blame us ? This movie will be bloated with tons of characters, casting has been so far weird, and Zack Snyder is co-writing.

Everything we've heard so far does not paint the film in a good light.

Snyder isn't co-writing, casting is subjective, and apart from Batman and maybe Wonderwoman all other superheroes are supposed to be cameos for the JL movie that is being shoot back to back with this. This is all known information really.

Snyder's not co-writing it, those "tons" of characters are going to get cameos/short establishing scenes at best, and I'd rather reserve judgement on casting until I actually see them performing.

EDIT: Shit, I should have just quoted the post above me.

Also:

This is such a odd thing to me: "hur hur the movie's gonna suck, but I'm still gonna pay 14.50 to watch it that'll show 'em". I thought we hated constant origin stories? If anything, I'm happy we won't be getting more of them.

Yes we can blame you.

People like you jump to conclusions while knowing dick all and it's always such a pain to observe. It's like poison in these threads. And what's a worse is that many of these things end up not being as bad as people thought or end up not being a big deal at all in the grand scheme of things.

This situation is even more annoying because people are making the absolute dumbest assumption and running with it. It is highly unlikely that all of these characters will get any real screen time. I imagine they'll be on screens in the batcave as batman explains to superman that there are more people like him out there or some variation of that. Or they'll start off with the justice League already assembled and this movie will be a flash back or some shit. They will be cameos and nothing more.

The fact that people have to keep repeating this shit is baffling to me. It's like talking to a bunch of kids.

I think now that DC is jumping head on into Justice League, not so much to do it different from Marvel, but because if they don't start big, then they may never get the project off the ground.
I think they feel that Justice League is their best shot at launching movies that aren't Superman or Batman with any sort of success, by directly connecting them with Superman and Batman from the start.

If there's any justice Shazam Captain Marvel would steal the movie. He was easily the best part of the New 52 Justice League book.

A superhero that's really 10 years old adds flavor to the movie by default!

While some of the supporting arguments are founded, you guys have to keep in mind that Zack Snyder is directing the movie, and so far, everything he's made has been mediocre at best. The only good things in his movies are the fight scenes, but they are not enough to save them.

I'm sorry, but no, you cannot blame people for having low expectations for his next film. That opinion is founded. If anything, people acting super-excited and positive about the film are the ones who should get a reality-check. Chances are that they are the ones who will be bummed out by the film, as opposed to the others who would be surprised at its quality.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Zack Snyder should stick to being a director of photography and nothing more. His movies are beautiful to watch and their fight scenes exhilarating; but that's it.

Again, this is all a rumor from a single source. Why is everyone just assuming it's true? I'd find it a lot more believable if there were a standalone Batman on the agenda, 'cause there's no way WB aren't planning one.

Because it's Nikki FInke. This isn't like some Latino Review or Comicbookmovie "scoop."

Heh, I remember people seeing pictures like this before TDKR came out and worrying about Hardy's size as Bane.

Camera angles and shot framing. They work.

People should know this by now, I mean Tom Cruise looks average height in all his movies and they been doing that for decades.

So we went from "Snyder is co writing this" to "Snyder is directing this and I don't like it". Snyder has had 1 universally panned movie and 1 movie with mixed reception.

I've seen all of Snyder's films and thought not one of them was better than mediocre.

Opinions.
