New DriveClub gameplay videos (IGN)

I still don't see what the fuss is about with this game. Project Cars looks better in my opinion and this game is still 30 fps. This game also in some nomans land between arcade and sim right?

Racing games are the worst possible type of footage to compress, since basically each frame is very very much different from the one before, so there is very little the codec can optimize and it comes down to just huge macroblocks just to stay inside the bitrate required for the final video.
As for getting these videos on Gamersyde, this is an exclusive for IGN, so there is absolutely no point in asking. It might be a time exclusive, in that case maybe or maybe not we'll get them, or it's a full exclusive and it will stay on Youtube forever. One way or another, there is no point annoying Sony or Rushy about it.
*Dramatic* Nooooooooo!!!

Granted youtube compression is crap, but am I the only one who didnt find these 2 gameplay vids particularly impressive?

They look good, but atleast what i saw was quite worse than the most recent realtime trailer we had last week.

Should i make an appointment with the eye doctor?

I genuinely believe it doesnt look that much better than need for speed rivals. It looks okay. Maybe i need to get my eyes checked too :/

Have you even been watching the other videos detailing the clubs and challenges? It also looks damn good and fun.

Goddamn it IGN.

Just grabbed a random segment.

There's a lot going on in these videos.

The dynamic lighting, headlights reflecting in cars in front, and cars behind you reflecting on your rear bumper.

Reflections on the car from the surrounding environment and from other cars.

The real-time shadows.

Also has more aliasing than it ever had before.

But I have to take back what I said - at least a little.

Environments in the second Video are indeed amazing.

Compression is causing a lot of the shimmering artifacts I reckon. I hope this is a crap representation of the game. Previous gameplay footage had mostly excellent IQ.

Looks incredibly boring, it has nothing over a sim racer in terms of over the topness, yet not a sim racer.

It's racing, how can you even make this assumption. I didn't sense boredom even though it's always better when you have your hands on it directly and not watching compressed video.

nah, check the power lines in the second video. That´s just horrible aliasing.

a LOT of aliasing on wires and cockpit.

Difficult to say with the YT compression but the motion blur in use doesn't seems to be a high quality one...

Actually the game isn't more impressive than the last Need for Speed who was in 1080p 30fps too. Lighting seems better but there is no huge gap.
And I don't really like the game still seems oriented simulation since it's 30fps, it's not adapted

I noticed the vegetation appears very very far away from the player in the mountains, so the draw distance is really big. Love this. I hate games like NFS where you're driving and the mountains appear completely empty and as you get close to them the trees and bushes start showing up.

On my iPad it looks like visible aliassing... Is that youtube or will the aliassing be even more visible when it's not blurry and compressed footage?

Looks good, especially the eary morning, love the lighting there

Aliasing is heavily present though and i'm expecting a big upgrade on the visual damage since they skipped the mechanical

Moderately hyped

It's not open world like Forza Horizon.
It doesn't have crazy tracks and OTT events like Split/Second.
It doesn't have crazy tracks and off road stunts like Motorstorm.

It's just a driving sim without the realistic handling physics and the 60fps requirement for a sim.

All the video with challenges have given much more of a non sim vibe. I think that's the devs intent more so than being another GT.

It's just a driving sim without the realism and the framerate.

Says you and let's be glad your opinion isn't where the buck stops.

Aliasing all over the place. Yes the videos are compressed, but it doesn't take a pair of hawk eyes to realize it isn't particularly impressive.

Those headlight shadows are great, subtle yet feel natural.
I notice a lot of aliasing on reflection hope they can fix that.

Sparks flying

Real-time/non-baked reflections are out? Can't see the car or sparks reflected in the .gif. There was also a part in the video with some flying birds that were absent in the reflection.

EDIT: Scratch that, I think I see the car now.
