Like who was in the videotape, what the spirals on the backs of the killers mean.

Okay I get you sure but I took it like

- girl was a victim of our man, who marty killed so he can't prey anymore
- the spirals are the sign of the tuttles, who still exist at large but we got the worst one out there, and they will arise again in s2 which is why true detective is a dark series

No, it's like a hatchet. One side is blade, one a hammer, and corner of the bladed side gets embedded in his upper right chest.
.

Do you not call this a hammer?

Ain't gonna lie, that Rust speech at the end made me tear up. Fucking McConaughey man, what a hell of a performance. Same goes to Woody too. Great ending.

The atmosphere in 'Carcosa' was unreal, I felt like they only explored one route of what was a entire city of darkness. That was some intricate ass set design.

The final 15 minutes of the episode was damn near perfect.

And when he entered Carcosa and Errol's voice said something about eternity, I was really considering that this was all in Rust's head the entire time or it was on some Cthulu shit.

The videotape was Marie Fontaneau (sp?) and the men were part of the Tuttle "sprawl". Chances are they are very prominent and powerful people with the means to keep themselves hidden.

Childress was a victim of that environment and in turn fashioned this Yellow King persona and began killing on his own. Ledoux and Dewall were Childress' "acolytes".

?

That's not what he threw. Feel free to go freeze frame it yourself. One side of the tool is a hatchet-type blade (not a claw), other is hammer. It's shown in perfect profile when he's raising it above Rust during their struggle.

MM is 100% going to win the Emmy (and deservedly so)......but goddammit if he shouldn't share the award with Woody. Rust is a MUCH more sexy and flashy role than Marty, who basically was the straight man of the duo. And the fact that he still stood toe to toe with Rust is a testament to Woody.

Ok, on the Maggie remarriage issue, I did a little detective work (I watched the scene from episode 7 where Marty goes to her house). She is wearing the ring and there is a picture of her with another guy amongst the family pictures that Marty looks at.

Woody absolutely killed it in the 2nd of half of the series (not that he was remotely bad in the first half).

Either of those guys could win the Emmy and I'd be okay with it.

Still think this was the best thing on TV so far this year. Really liked the way they ended it. I was waiting for a twist the last 15 minutes but you know what? I am glad there wasnt.

What a letdown. After an amazing Episode 4 and 5, the last two episodes were mediocre, and this finale really sucked.

The last five minutes were cringeworthy.

Alright, now that the loveboat has sailed...I want "It's a super magic cult" GAF to come back. The ones that said I was wrong about it being a serial killer lol.

PS. One of the best endings of all time. So fucking rich and satisfying. I cried for real.

Note to self: GO THERE.

Man, if I ever get to Louisiana I need to check out some of these locales in person.

Isn't there a tourism industry around the Game of Thrones sights?

Wouldn't be surprised if these places see an increase in attention

... wasn't it both?

I'm kind of glad I didn't even realize there was a LOST-esque "rabbit hole" for this show until yesterday. I was viewing it as a much more straightforward experience, and enjoyed it more as a result. I don't know if this gets grouped as a miniseries a la American Horror Story or what, but it stood mightily against everything else that has been on TV lately.

Having seen this and "Kill List" in the past 24 hours is quite a contrast.

No. The cult/Tuttles had nothing to do with the women murders. They raped and killed children way back when and eventually involved Errol.

But like they said at the end...They matched Errol's prints to the knife used on Dora Lange and Stephanie Kordish and dozens's of victims. He was ONE serial killer. But he was inspired by what he saw as a child. Marty and Rust stumbled upon their cult but their main objective was the serial killer who took all these women. And they got him!

Uh, what? Sorry, but what made this episode suck?

Cheeseball dialogue outside of the hospital. Rust crying like a girl. That dumb cop in the beginning of the episode--might as well just got the guy from Smokey and the Bandit.

Gotta be honest: I felt a little betrayed by the whole thing.

yeah, I don't think this is our last time in carcosa. see you back here in a year for that terrifying shit,

I doubt it. :(

There was an interview recently where the writer said he is doing the show as an anthology, and Season 2 will be in a new location and new characters. This particular story is over.

I really like that. This season was incredible and there's only so many creepy scenarios you can throw at the same two guys over and over, and still make it believable. This was masterful storytelling at work, and it's good to just let that stand for itself and have it be a story that had a good ending, rather than "Gosh what's in store for Rust and Marty for year 4?"

I think you might have watched a different show by mistake.
