Perfect

This is how I like to imagine their conversation after breaking the sheriff:

Marty: We got the location, let's get back to shore and hit the road.
Rust: Aw, hell naw. We gon' roll up on that sumbitch in this here water car.
Marty: Well, what're we waitin' for?
Rust: YeeeeeeeeeHAAAAAAWWWWW!

Audrey knows something

weird neck line for the man and that scene with the dolls...
GAF is split on this issue if you go back like five pages or so. I think the dolls are fishy and I never noticed the neckline but I don't think we'll see her again. Maybe the last scene is Marty realizing she was involved but that's it.

I've pretty much accepted that Audrey's stuff was just a contrast between Hart's case, and his own home (and not being able to see his family's problems). That it just seemed similar, for thematic reasons. That she wasn't necessarily abused at all.

Because honestly, I don't even think with the little time they have left, there would be a way to incorporate her into all of this. It would feel forced to me, the way the lawnmower revelation felt forced. It would be some random - oh well she attended this Tuttle school once. Or, her Grandpa had a copy of the ritual tape. I just can't see it. So yeah, in my mind I'm just expecting nothing more then what we got.

what are the chances that we will get two big hollywood actors for season 2, just like we had for season 1?

You guys are aiming way too high with a lot of this fan casting. Tom Hardy and JGL aren't going to do True Detective. Why would they? Both way too high profile and getting paid a lot more to star in blockbuster features. Same goes for a LOT of the suggestions I've seen.

Let we forget that WH and MM weren't exactly A-listers when cast. Both excellent actors, of course, but Woody's career has been all over the place and MM's renaissance was only starting to bloom.

Think more along the lines of supporting actors or B-listers or HBO alums, not A-list Hollywood stars.

Kevin Bacon.

Goddamn it, Fox.

That's probably more in the right ballpark, aside from his availability being tied up with Classic Poe. But yeah, that's more of the ilk I think people should be looking at when suggesting possible casting.

Personally, I'd mine some of David Milch's stable of actors.

I'd love to see John Goodman doing this. Hm... I kinda still think this is the type of project that Tom Hanks might go for. I dunno why, but I think it. Hugh Jackman's done television and broadway in recent years, I think he might up for it as well if he doesn't have to play the Canucklehead for a while.

Oh! Guy Pearce! What's he up to? Fuck it, you know, I'd cast John Cho in this. I think he can do drama.

Tom Hardy is doing british tv

I think James Franco would do it. Guy tries everything

MM and WH are executive producers, so they're probably getting paid for this season. I'm sure they could probably get some A lister (or at least someone close to it) with the limited, defined time commitment. I think we'd be more likely to see a former A-lister (like a Kevin Spacey type) than an up and coming star.

The daughter conspiracy just keeps on picking up steam with every episode that does nothing to perpetuate it. Do you even see that it's a grown woman in that drawing?

I'm really behind as I'm watching on UK TV...but on the back of the first two episodes I'm going to be amazed if any other show can get anywhere close to this by the end of the year.

The King in Yellow references <3 So good.

Still think it should be Clancy Brown as the crazed, hot-tempered, creepy violent detective and John Hawkes as his level headed partner trying to keep his shit together

I think getting a big name won't be too hard, considering HBO is HBO, and I'm sure a lot of these movie actors would be chomping at the bit to get on this hype train. I know that the whole TV > movies discussion has been going on since The Sopranos (and probably longer), but I think this is the first show to truly solidify the argument. Breaking Bad was good, but it still felt show-y at times. But True Detective honestly feels like getting an entire movie trilogy back-to-back
except the end scene from last week lol
.

edit: My new prediction for the future of the show: Rust is actually the Angle of True Detectives, and comes down to Earth from time to time to transform an average cop into a True Detective. Marty dies in the finale, and we see him seated at a table in heaven surrounded by other True Detectives. Next season we will follow another one of those True Detectives at the table, and the story will recount how their new partner Rust (played by a new actor) transformed their life. This is the only logical conclusion.

Like I said early, I'd love a combination of Carly Pope and lets say Edward Norton. Would be a nice breakout role for Carly and a nice redemption for Edward if he can pull it off.

wassup with all these crappy team up of actors

i thought GAF would gone with Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender and followed by 5pgs of fanfic. Throw in Lex Luthor from Smallville also

Since we are throwing wild names out there I really think James Spader would be perfect for this show.
