Okay, after episode 5 I don't have enough time to go back and review all the previous episodes. What have the rest of you guys dug up since?

has there ever been a time in history where the mediums are on comparable levels that could allow such a thing?

lol I even seen Leo's Wolf movie and he was motherfucking insanely great in it... and MM deserves it more...lol I haven't even seen DBC yet.. I'm going to pretend he's winning for his role in this.. :P

Also what category would this fall under? I know American Horror Story is technically under "Mini-Series" because of the anthology style of the show. But then again, I think that was a choice made by the creator to better compete. I guess one could submit a one off 8 episode season into the Drama category. Will be interesting to the say the least!
I don't know the answer to this, but considering there are quite a few anthology shows premiering in 2014-2015, I think it would make sense if they all competed against each other in the Miniseries category?

What I mean is, I don't have time to go back and give the clues in previous episodes a second look. I'm sure somebody in this thread has done that and brought up all kinds of stuff.
kmax took a long look at some of the literary mythology of the show here and here if you're interested. Beyond that, there's been a ton of discussion regarding previous episodes and Ep5 here in the thread, but it's not the sort of thing that can be quickly collated for easy digestion.

Any links for the inside the actors studio interview?
There's a number of clips here, but I don't think the whole video is up anywhere.

Hmmm.
That seems pretty convincing but the way it's placed at the station in plain view leads me to think it's staged for build-up to their "falling out." Clearly I'm subscribing to Cohle-Undercover theory but at the same time, if we believe there is a larger conspiracy, there is a real possibility that Marty would be getting heat from the higher ups to reign in Cohle. I guess these aren't mutually exclusive though as Marty can still pretend to be complying.

Is TD eligible for this year's Emmy's? Honestly, I think it will be tough beating Cranston this year. IMO some of his best work came in the second half of Season 5. Ozymandias alone should nab him the Emmy. I would love MM to win though over him (and I'm a huge BB/Cranston fan). I just feel like that show will sweep everything thing since it ended, and generally most critics/fans and the industry loved it and were obsessed with it (to levels we haven't seen before).

I figure they'll play safe and submit MM & WH for actor in a mini-series as well the show itself. I think despite TD blowing up something fierce it's pretty much going to be a BB sweep in the series catagories so mini-series is a far better race to enter.

Undercover for 10 years?

Its not a miniseries though. I'm not sure what the emmys rules are about that though

Could I take this? So good!

Absolutely! Props to TheOddOne for the original idea.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. TD would sweep if it was submitted as "min-series". But I dunno, if it was in Drama, I think it would really give Breaking Bad a run for its money (as well as it should).

lol just re-watched ep 1 by mistake... thought it was e5 but just said why not... This is the one of the best shows I've seen... Just prefect soo far.. 2 more days.. :*(
have to go through them all again :p

One hole in Hart's and Kohle's story bugs me. Hart found the children, then the gunfire started. In their lie, they say they found the children after the shoot out. Now, they said the girl was catatonic. I guess this saved them? She could have easily said she saw the cops first, then heard the gunfire.

Any testimony from the children that might damage Hart/Cohle's narrative would be dismissed, if they heard or remembered anything at all.

It doesn't seem to make all that much sense. American Horror Story is nominated as a miniseries I believe, and that is an anthology show much like True Detective. Luther is also nominated as a mini-series, which is different as it's just a serialized series (albeit with much shorter seasons than your average US show). I don't know if there are strictly rules or if it's up to those submitting the series to determine themselves.

It's an 8 episode contained drama. I'm pretty sure Top of the Lake which was 7 episodes was judged as a mini-series, so I'm unsure as to why TD wouldn't be.
Regardless of how successful the show is, the writer and actors have already stated that the characters will not be coming back. This season is their story.

that are considered either six hours or more, or more than two parts.

Should be good in that category tbh.

I guess. Maybe I'm over-thinking it and should let it go. Plus if the children did contradict the stories of the detectives, that could/would be covered up pretty easily.

I see your point--
my idea about it was another take on the Iron Crusaders play, this time long-term. These are men who covered up Ledoux's killng for 17 years, telling the same story without deviation for all that time, under oath even. 10 years on this one seems like cake.

"If you wanna arrest me, go ahead. If you wanna follow me, come on. If you wanna see whats inside, get a warrant. Thanks for the beer. Otherwise, you wasted my fucking day...Company men."

The one kid was already dead and I doubt the other kid said anything, and if she did it's easy to imagine a kid in that situation may end up remembering things wrong. Plus she was like 5-6, she wasn't going to give a detailed recap.

awesome! Much appreciated, both of you.

I like it better when Rust and Marty are bros Haha. I hope they bury the hatchet in the present before the end

Rust's anti-authoritative streak makes me really respect the character. That scene was great stuff
