Began yesterday with episode 1 and watched the rest today

What a killer show; never took MM seriously, but man he totally rocks his role as Cohle (weird that there is a H in his name). Woody does a very, very good job as well, especially in the last two episodes.

Favorite scene is the one-shot from episode 4 - masterfully done

If you have a new found appreciation for MM you should check out

Lincoln Lawyer
Dallas Buyers Club

He is good in all of those.

Got caught up last night. Best show on TV right now.

Alright, I've put off getting involved with the show because I didn't know what to expect. I am now fully caught up and can say I thoroughly like what I have seen. It's not the greatest show ever nor the greatest detective series I've seen (so far) but it is pretty darn good. I will definitely keep watching to see how this all turns out I just hope it doesn't end with some dumb twist or some massive conspiracy, that shit has been done to death. I want something believable and that makes sense, in that I can go back and rewatch the whole series and "see the answer staring right in front of my face."

I think that's how its gonna be. I think the detective's curse also is the audience's curse. We're being taken on Rust's and Marty's journey. Seems obvious we'd miss what was right in front of us.

The size of her breasts appeal to you only because they represent the illusion of fertility, the amount of milk and nourishment you could sustain from them. But she is not your mother and she has no milk. It's an illusion of comfort that holds you back from seeing the truth. And that truth is that Michelle Monaghan has the superior breasts. Man.

Wanted to check out Dallas Buyers Club, but never heard of those other two - thanks for the recommendation, will check them out :)

I embrace lawns of all sizes and shapes. They're all special in their own way

I'd mow both

I'd put her at the top... a lot of porn chicks look broke as shit, ddardio ain't broke as shit.

Besides that, there is something extremely hot and exciting about suddenly seeing some fine boobs in a tv-show. Even though though you can get the raunchiest porn online in the snap of a finger.

I was watching the last scenes of episodes 3 and 4 on youtube immediately after episode 4.

When Rust is giving the great speech at the end of episode 3 looking at the DBs, one image quickly flashed by that stood out to me: one of a little girl. And the first few times I watched this, I just noted "how sad". But then I noticed:

She's taking her pulse.

Quite a mannerism to pick up isn't it? Everytime Rust goes into a dangerous situation he checks his pulse, as if checking his own mortality before he goes back into the darkness. He did the same thing in an earlier episode.

I'll even go a step further: there's a chance that THIS is Rust's daughter, and that she did not in fact die in a car accident. We learned in episode 4 that he's not above lying about things (like his father having leukemia). And of course the big lie about the shootout. There's a chance things are much more tragic than he lets on, and may tie into the thematic ending of the show.

^^ive been thinking that the show might end with us seeing what happened that day. That is an interesting point, the girl checking her pulse. I think you're reaching with her being alive though.

Lol @ a poster being cut off at the crown being indicative of anything.

Oh I don't think she's alive, I think she just didn't die in a car accident like he said. It looks like a bullet wound or something, and I think Cohle was there as she died, unable to save her, watching her taking her own pulse as her life faded away.

Kinda unnerving theory, but I can't help shake it. It's weird how they suddenly flashed that image and then moved on quickly in less than a second.

This is the Loose Change of True Detective speculation.

Ohh ok, well i can definitely agree that the circumstances in which she died may be more tragic than he has let in. I feel the implication is there.

If you look more closely it seems that she has a rope/noose around her neck ... so her fingers may be trying to loosen it up before it chokes her

So after all the hype and love for the show, I started watching two days ago and just finished episode 5...

WOW. That's all I can say really. I mean, Matthew as Chole is amazing. Harrelson is Fantastic as well. Everything about this show is great.

I don't know where the show will lead us, but it's going to be amazing for the next few episodes.

I thought I saw a sliced neck or noose scaring. You don't check your pulse on your throat you do it on the side of your neck.
Still convinced it's gonna be the governor (or whatever he was). Rich dude, supposedly anti-occult and powerful. Gonna be him.

I don't think he's gonna be the murderer, but I think he has something to do with it.

Yeah, I always thought she was reaching for her throat because she was being choked or strangled.

You can check your pulse from the way her hands are set, btw--the spot where the throat meets the tissue of your neck has a good line to it. Sorry for not knowing the biological terms, haha.

Guys. Guys. It's going to be the spaghetti monster that chased a girl in the woods - refered to in the first episode when Marty and rust were checking in with the previous police captain (iirc). They showed a sketch of a man with a huge row of scars running down his face. Terrifying. It's going to be that guy - and I'm sure there's going to be a few more people involved, but the apex, primary, scary baddie is the spaghetti monster. Calling it
mostly because I think another girl refers to the man with the scars in the preview for the next episode.

Arrogant, hot shot FBI agent Sam Rockwell visits Fairbanks, Alaska to help ex military turned police detective Sigourney Weaver solve a string of disappearances.

yeah...nope.

Not only would it be a shitty twist, it would make Rust look an incompetent detective for not knowing the killer was right under his nose the entire time. In that scenario, who exactly is the titular "True Detective"? Nobody. Also, Pizzolatto called both Rust and Marty "heroes" in the last Inside the Episode video for episode 5. That's not something you call a murderer. There is a zero percent chance this is true. But like I said before, there are a lot of hair brained theories floating around, throw this one in the pile.

My problem with Marty being the killer is that he's just way too hotheaded to carry out or be part of the intricate murder and coverup of these murders. He's a psycho underneath yes, but not the Thomas Harris type killer-with-a-vision-type psycho.
