I could see him doing a three season arc, Call of Cthulhu style, but unless he's got that plan in place already, I don't see it happening.
Well.......5 episodes deep out of 8, I have full confidence in Pizzaman sticking the landing here.

Expecting a supernatural twist will leave you disappointed because the twist will be metaphysical.

The ending will be Bob Newhart waking up telling his wife he had the craziest dream.

The bigger concern with Mann would be him trying to take over the production/clashing with Pizza, like he did with Luck/David Milch.
Then again, David Milch is a noted asshole himself, so it's hard to lay blame on that one :lol
Either way, its just a pipe dream. MM won't do TD, and I won't be shocked either if S2 features multiple directors.

I was wrong, this show is great. Onto the third episode.
It would make no sense to tell this sort of story about these sort of people if the intention is to have an uplifting ending where the heroes beat the villain and everything they've been doing is vindicated by society. But I don't think that means everyone is heading towards a "bad" ending either. It seems more likely that the bleak and pessimistic undercurrent in the tone will be lightened at the end with some sense of hope for this world while addressing that things don't generally end up where we want them most of the time, and accepting that is one way to move on.
In other words, I expect a sort of "victory" at the end, but a victory that no one is really particularly happy with, and society grudgingly moves on while the people involved come to terms with it if they survived.

I'm only diving in and out of this OT with my eyes closed becaue I've only watched Episodes 1 and 2 so far but
1) Harrelson and particularly McConaughey are doing the best work of their lives in this
2) The dialogue is some of the best I've heard outside of a Tarantino script
3) The direction and use of practical sets is superb
4) Alexandra Daddario has the best body I've ever seen. I even told my wife as such and she pretty much agreed (but was still annoyed at me)
5) Was that an owl?
I'll be back when I've watched the other three episodes!

Indeed. It would be a massive knock to the show if it ended up going down that route. LOST/BSG ending levels of disappointment.
If the second Season is in LA then Mann would be a great choice. I thought his direction in Luck was excellent (the horse races were intense), but yeah it's hard to imagine Mann wanting to play second fiddle to the writer.

Conspiracy theories related to Lone Star are a stretch. It's a Texas beer, Rust worked in Texas law enforcement, and McConaughey starred in a movie called Lone Star. I don't think it's anything beyond that.
I, too, wouldn't mind this, but that's the Lovecraft fanboy in me.
I hope they don't go in either extreme--I like the ambiguity of what's true, what's false, and what we don't understand. Something supernatural would be dumb, but a Scooby Doo/Sherlock "it can be explained like this..." would be just as disappointing.

The size of her breasts appeal to you only because they represent the illusion of fertility, the amount of milk and nourishment you could sustain from them. But she is not your mother and she has no milk. It's an illusion of comfort that holds you back from seeing the truth. And that truth is that Michelle Monaghan has the superior breasts. Man.
