i would love for them to release some DLC single player missions as well. Seems like a perfect game to utilize DLC and increase this game's longevity. The hardest work is done - keeping this game supported should be one of sony/vita's priorities...they dont need to focus on a whole new game if they can pump out DLC continuously for it.
 
Probably just gonna buy Strider right now. That demo was silky smooth and super pretty. And I need more games to play on the PS4 =P

Now, help me out with this guys, hypothetically, how good is Freedom Cry DLC if I've never played an Assassin's Creed? Does it have ship battles? And how big is the island?

Wikipedia tells me it's 剣と魔法と学園モノ。Ken to Mahō to Gakuenmono, so I guess that's a viable shortening! I'm often surprised that I never see it referred to by it's JP name at all, this is probably why!

As far as the serial... I just let mine slide, and stuck it on something I could keep safe. No tape or adhesive seemed to want to stick well...

You know how you have that gut reaction when you press the last purchase button to purchase something? I had Strider and AssCreedFreeCry in my cart and my reactions was " NO !! ". Oh well. Once my refund and PS Play Credit come in I'll have just enough for FFX HD or MGS:GZ. Though, I'm pretty sure I'm just going to pick up Ground Zeroes used because I need to have physical copies of certain games ( the Metal Gear Saga ) and it's value is going to tank so hardcore once the used copies start hitting within the same 24 hours of it's purchase. I'll pick it up during on of the upcoming dead months.

For the first time in forever I actually hope there aren't any games coming out for the next month. I need to save that money for FFX HD Vita.

well they're doing a terrible job of making sure people know that Tomba 2 is not in english given it's not mentioned ANYWHERE on the store page
 
Woah, hold on, what's the Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry thing all about? I'm expecting it to be quite short, but it's only $14.99 for PS4, and I'd be down for some AC at that price. Anybody know how many hours of content the game has? Open world or linear?

I think I'm sitting 1 spot out of the Platinum trophy for the Daily Extreme Challenge, with 40mins to go... would be much appreciated if anyone could jump on and post a crap time to improve my chances!

New hand-ons on with a Feb. build of Galak-Z.

The controls for Galak-Z were my main complaint back in August. This time around, I had little to no problem navigating my ship through rocky corridors and in and out of combat. To my surprise, Kazdal confirmed that the controls did not change at all, which proves that the learning curve can be overcome ... It’s less of a twin-stick shooter than you might think at first. It’s also not as unforgiving as, say, Gravity Crash or games of that ilk; you can safely bounce into walls, etc. Again, the focus is on combat.

It's pretty hard finding details because everyone is so shrewd with the details. I'm downloading it now, myself.
Apparently, it's open world. But the world is small. 4-5 hours main quest with lots of side stuff that at least doubles it. It's a bit heavy handed on the slavery message though.

I'm buying it because I haven't played an AssCreed since AC2. The last one I owned was the original.
 
Guys. Seriously. Gunslugs is excellent. I do agree that with SAB that it could use more indication that you're getting hit, but it's a really fun game and an absolute STEAL at $1.99. It makes me sad that only me and Massa have bought it on my friends list so far. The randomly generated levels mixed with leaderboards gives it a sort of Spelunky Daily Challenge vibe. It's just so fun. Highly recommended.

Sounds good to me! I think I'll buy that, because screenshots of ACIV on Ps4 show a pretty visually excellent game so I'm anxious to see it on my TV. I just didn't want to buy the full ACIV game.
 
It needs a bluemaxima quicklook video, VanWinkle. Based off the trailers, I'm not feeling it. And after dropping $6 on Japanese Tomba! 2, I'm not in a buying mood. :P

I have this game since December, I got it during the holiday season and since then I've been playing a bit here and there. When I got this there was many other games releasing on all sorts of platforms. I wanted to order quite a few of them but, because we are living harsh times in here I had to make a choice. Tearaway was with a decent price and after hearing good things about the game I decided to get it. The fact that it was a colorful violence-free was also a plus since this game ended being the perfect fit while you play your online FPS of choice, Outlast, or any other game that there's violence involved.

This game was where I would balance my Zen. What a unique experience this game was.

The Story was amazing, I played in my local language and while I prefer English they did an amazing and true job translating this game. I'm terrible at platforms. It's the genre I'm the weakest, I fail a lot easy things like jumping from point A to point B but I had to play this game. It was more than worth it, the ending was amazing and I feel truly happy for having the chance of experiencing this.

If you heard about this game, if you saw the GAF hype but you are still not convinced then here it goes another vote for you to get the game. Anyone from any age can play this game. You can let your children play, you can play yourself. If you fear this to be a "childish" game than fear not. The Story is really well done and I simply loved all the creativity process while they made this game.

I wish I could just go to their studios and congratulate them myself and I really hope this game to sell more, they truly deserve for trying something different. I want to go there! (I sent them a neat/humble email couple of weeks ago, but no answer so far, unfortunately).

On a side note I got 91% of the Trophies, which means I completed the game to 100% Collecting every single item and the only 3 remaining trophies I have left require me to not die a single time on 3 different levels. For reasons I explained above, I will not try to get these but I'm pretty happy with my completion rate for now. Give this game a chance if you haven't, it made me smile and I had great fun from the start to finish. :)

What's the actual gameplay like? I played a bit of the demo and, while it was insanely charming, I found it a little dull to actually play because it seemed to mostly consist of walking in a straight line and occasionally poking the back touchscreen. I keep meaning to go back and finish it to find out if it goes beyond that though.
 
My eye caught the Rockstar sale:

Is the ps3 version of RDR pretty bad? I remember hearing that this version was completely inferior to the 360 version. Did any of the patches fix this disparity?
 
Am I having a fever dream? I could have sworn I just saw on the PS Blog that Dragon's Crown was supposed to be on sale today but when I looked on the Store it wasn't. I went back to the Blog and it's not listed.

I never noticed anything bad when I played RDR. But then again, I'm not a graphics whore. :P

So, we're just left with the matter of the final recommendation. We've demonstrated conclusively that the Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption possesses higher resolution, improved levels of detail, noticeably superior performance in-game and fewer jaggies owing to a more consistently applied anti-aliasing solution that doesn't blur the image. Shadows are generally sharper, and of better quality (particularly on the characters' self-shadows).

Just about the only area where PS3 commands an advantage is in terms of loading: the 515MB mandatory install shaves off a few seconds, but as the only in-game loading occurs during fast-travel between locations (using the campsite), it's hardly worth mentioning. Certainly the install doesn't grant any kind of tangible performance boost in terms of less LOD-popping or anything like that.

However, none of this is to say that Red Dead Redemption is not a good game in its own right on PlayStation 3. Play on PS3 without having seen the 360 version and it's difficult to imagine that the fun factor of the game has been massively impacted. And if Rockstar had decided to deliberately dial back 360 to make the game look and feel identical to the PS3 version, it's hard to imagine that the enviable scores it has attracted would be any different.

In short, Rockstar is to be commended on what is an absolutely fantastic game on both platforms, but the technical analysis is pretty conclusive: if you've got the choice of buying the game for either console, Xbox 360 is the version of Red Dead you should buy.

I saw it listed. It was $25 in the blog post when I read through it.
 
Does anybody know what the likelihood of MGS and Silent Hill psone classics going up on the US Vita store is? I'm dying to play them and I don't have access to a PS3 at the moment...

You will learn to jump and roll later on. There are some actions involving the touch screen like you mentioned and you will also be able to use something as a "weapon" to get rid of some enemies. The platform goes more than jumping, there are parts that require timing, others precision and some dragging with the touch screen. I found all this to be enough for me to be honest.

Ah, that's good to hear. The demo didn't have any jumping but I guess that was just the intro. I'll play the rest of it and probably pick up the game sometime then!

I'm pretty sure people in the VitaGAF thread said that you learned to jump at the end of the demo (which is pretty much just the first world/stage, I believe based on what I've read).

You might never really use it in the demo, but you use it in the game.

The gameplay itself when we judge it as single aspect isn't particularly special. I don't play platformer so often, but I can said the platforming is decent at best and nothing special. But what makes it so good and charming is on how Tearaway presented its gameplay throughout it's world, and story.
 
If I download the Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken through PS Plus, do I not get the 12 DLC character pack for the PS3 version?

Highly unlikely. I asked the Konami guy that posts on GAF, and he said to ask SCEA. Given Vita's two years old, and there's a tonne of content playable on the machine, but not on the store, I don't think SCEA cares.
 
Are there any patches for SFXT that you have to download with the game? Anyone know the total file size? Im out right now, Gonna have to make some room on my 32 gig when I'm home
