I even bought Rockstar Ping Pong at launch. Early 360 days were weird. I had a Core 360 and I bought a hard drive off the guy who worked at my local EB Games, but not from EB Games.

I've never liked top-down driving games, so even though I was aware of GTA back when the first one came out, I didn't pay attention to the franchise until GTA III.

I'll never forget those weird 360 games you could only buy at Burger King.
Very creepy stuff.

Yeah GTA 1 on PS One. Never clocked it or anything, pretty sure that was impossible... but it was my first "free roaming" experience and loved it. GTA III on PC was amazing, although it ran like dogshit on my family computer. Than I played Vice City on the OG Xbox and was my all time fav GTA.

GTA 1 on PC but I didn't play it long because my parents got hung up on it being M. So I played 2, which is the only T rated GTA lol. My dad and cousin played it with me over LAN. I had to wait on 3 since it was a PS2 launch game and I didn't want or have a PS2. U didn't beat it but I must have put 60 hours in with my brother just driving around and making up our own story.

GTA1, played the PC demo on one of those discs that came with a magazine. I don't think it was PC Gamer though.

Man, such awesome times, lol.

GTA 1

Man, remember when the original GTA came with that awesome soundtrack CD?

My nephew once asked my parents if he could borrow the game. I really wasn't trying to let him have it, so I pulled a fast one and just gave him the music CD instead looool

GTA 1 on the original PlayStation, Plus the GTA London 1969 expansion pack disc.

Never would have imagined back in 1999 how much a cultural phenomenon the franchise would evolve into.

I'm pretty sure it was GTA 1 or 2. I never could get used to the top down view. What I remember most was a mission where I believe I was supposed to pick up a girl/wife and I had to hurry. I couldn't find her right away, turned a corner quick and ran over people including her. I then got a beeper message that someone wasn't happy with me and id better be on the lookout.... something to that effect.

But I bought GTA 3 at random. It has just come out and I knew nothing about it really, the gameplay images on the back of the case looked interesting if I recall right. Took it home and was hooked. If they followed age laws back then, I wouldn't have been able to buy it lol.

After Vice City and San Andreas though, my interest has become less and less. Not interested in 6 until it's on sale and on PC I think.

I had all the PS1 GTA ports, including London. but the first one I had was GTA2 on PC. I got the PS1 port of 2, and the port of 1 and London a few years after.

I'm pretty sure I started with the first one and then GTA 2 soon after. I do remember playing London too. Never beat any of them but had fun driving around and using cheat codes. Vice City was already released when I got PS2 so it was my first next-gen GTA. I got 3 some time after but it didn't impress me much after VC. I have started to appreciate it more in recent years.

The first, a friend showed it to me on PC and I had a great time with quite a decent sink of hours. Wasn't until the third that I thought it was anything special though.

GTA 1 but GTA 2 is the one I played a shit ton of. The graphics upgrade over 1 was so mind blowing to me, running it at HD resolutions and remarking how sharp it was and how good the explosions looked.

I also really liked the ultra grim tone, picking up civilians in a bus and them taking them to be stripped naked and meat grinderered, wtf lol.

Can you imagine portraying that with modern graphics and close up perspective, something like the new Hellraiser game or ILL has it but even then theres some level of censoring so its not classed as pornographic.

Damn people are legit old here. Gta3 was around my time but my first was Vice City when we could afford a computer back then.

Ok not that old. Gta1 was in 1997. I could have played it easily.

GTA 1 on PS1
GTA 2 on Dreamcast
GTA 3 on PC
GTA Vice City on PS2 and PC
GTA San Andreas on PS2 and PC
GTA IV on PC
GTA V on PS3 and PC

I haven't played GTA London, Advanced, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories.
I played Chinatown Wars for about 15 minutes on PSP.

i would say driver, then megaman legend : ))
my first is GTA vice city, i like miami 80's vibe, and at the time, it's rare to see the viibe of old tv series in video game. the open world & radio amazed me.

GTA 1 on PS One.

Yup. The first GTA game that I ever played was the original Playstation 1 game. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed by it overall. It wasn't terrible or anything, like that. Overall, a really novel idea. The radio stations were a lot of fun, and I did like the more arcade-y aspect of the original games.

I also remember playing GTA London on the PSX as well. Funny how much of an influence Austin Powers had back then. Rockstar had the Austin Powers license and released a few GameBoy games. They were also working on an Austin Powers Kart racer game for the Dreamcast.

For whatever reason, I skipped GTA2 and didn't play it until I got it on Steam for the PC. I wasn't really all that hyped for GTAIII, to be honest. Vice City was a much bigger deal for me.

GTA 1 on PC. I thought it was fun to run people over but that's about it. I found it very very hard and not enjoyable overall. I was very surprised when GTA 3 came out, was very different and became a huge success.

GTA 3 on PS2. Borrowed from a buddy.

Couldnt get into it. I was big into ESPN 2k sports, TM, AC4, GT etc... all games that run at 60 fps in possible.

I play GTA3 as a big hyped game. I dont think the game even ran at 20 fps half the time. I'm driving a car down the street and this is choppy as hell. Bailed fast.

Played all of them, and in order, mostly around the time they came out.
2 was the best of the 2D ones, though I found London to be on par with it.

3 was.... raw. It was very interesting for the novelty at the time, but it doesn't hold up all that well.

Vice City and San Andreas is where the series peaked.
Good gameplay, and still an actual focus on gameplay instead of glorified series/movie stuff.

4 was still quite decent.

5 was really just a glorified movie, gameplay played second fiddle. With the only decent way to make money being the stock market with pre-knowledge about story events... dumb, just dumb.
The worst part about it were the characters, though. Two completely unlikeable assholes/clowns, and Franklin.
Couldn't even finish it.

I have no doubt 6 will again just be of the glorified movie variety.
But maybe, just maybe, not all of the playable characters will be assholes... that would make me get it on a sale at least.

GTA 3 in middle school at a friends house. I thought it was really cool I later got the double pack that had gta 3 and vice city in it for Xbox that was released in 2003 and completed both games. Later completed San Andreas and then gta iv years later and gta v last year.

3.
Which was also my last one. I fell for the hype. It's the rare game I got exactly zero fun from. I just suffered for a week, waiting for the spark to ignite, thinking it would click at some point. It never did. And I never bothered with GTA again.
