CPU architecture? I'm talking system as a whole
x86 CPU, RDNA2 GPU, GDDR6 RAM, NVME SSD, DirectX API, Windows 10 OS, etc.
These new consoles are PCs in every sense of the word.

If you say so but I still stand by the original comment that this is one of the worst first party launches everx86 CPU, RDNA2 GPU, GDDR6 RAM, NVME SSD, DirectX API, Windows 10 OS, etc.

REEEEEEEEEEEE!!!It's rendering at 1080p
Worst next gen launchTbh, its the exact same on Sonys side if you have a PS4 Or PC.
I don’t think this video was intended for the gaf community. This is geared towards the millions of people that don’t follow every new piece of news everyday. So in that sense I think it has accomplished its goal quit well. This video is a waste of time. The UI is exactly the same as the Xbox One so we don't need a walkthrough for what we already know how to use. The rest of the time all they talk about is the same marketing stuff they've been talking about for months. Quick Resume, expansion card, game pass, etc. Not a single new thing in this video.
Lol. You know, I actually clean forgot about the acquisition of Bethesda and others. That's something to look forward to if future titles from beth and others are going to be exclusive to Xbox and PC. Did they ever confirm anything on that front?First of all, cool showcase. I like these long-form discovery pieces, with the hosts acting more natural, and just giving us an extended look at something. It’s been great for recent Sony games, and the Nintendo Directs need no introduction.
But Gears 5? More BC? Dirt 5, which you’d swear was the only new game heading to Series X?
Not only is the game lineup weak, but Microsoft insists on making it look weaker at every opportunity. Is Sony’s lockdown so absolute that Microsoft can’t get Epic to showcase Fortnite on the system (I know, but it’s popular off of forums)? CoD? Upcoming games like RE8? Cyberpunk?
I know the content is coming, and we had an around ten billion dollar testament to that fact, a few weeks ago, and launch itself will quickly popularize some of those games (particularly if the best versions are on Series X) but this isn’t selling the Series X to anyone but tech diehards, GamePass fans, and people with a soft spot for Xbox.
Next gen walkthrought.. And they start with gears 5,lol

Given how much money they spent, I'm inclined to agree with you. Still would be nice if they clarified though so that we wouldn't have to make assumptions.Microsoft has never put a major first party game on PS4 or Switch, outside of existing contractual obligations from a bought developer (like Outer Worlds). It’s unconfirmed, but feels like common sense.
So have I for the past few months! But more importantly, Microsoft has been saying this for years. They don't believe in generations and the Xbox Series S/X are NOT next gen consoles in the way that we have been accustomed to for decades now. They are just iterative hardware that is extending the Xbox platform (a la PC and Xbox One X). I've been saying that Microsoft is simply bringing the PC hardware upgrade model to the console market (for better or worse) which is fundamentally different than what we typically see with a "new" console generation. That's what I've been saying for a while

This is only true at this point for Microsoft and the Xbox. And this is what they have been saying and this is intentional on their end. Xbox Series X/S is essentially the same as the Xbox One X in that they are iterations of the Xbox platform.People need to look at this from a different perspective. Generations are pretty much dead which is good, Series X and also PS5 are more like new "mid-gen refresh" systems.
Speaking of which, any chance we can get one of these puppies ever running windows? Between the case, ssd, noise level, graphics power level, etc, would make an excellent actual pc for the price.
Next gen walkthroughs should not start with last gen games.
I can’t fucking believe this even needs saying.
Let‘s face it, Microsoft have given up on new, fresh generations. I find this a bit sad, really. Drains all excitement and interest.
Those went away when MS and Sony decided to do mid-gen console refreshes and extend the generation. As I've said before. This gen is even missing the "glorified tech demos" like Ryse, DR3, or Kz:sf.
Im waiting a few months before buying anything. Nothing really worthy of dropping $500 on launch.
We're in the middle of a global pandemic so i think it would be naive to think that it hasnt affected the gaming industry like it has many other industries. It doesnt much to cause a delay to an industry that already suffers from a major crunch problem.Exactly. We have 2 powerful consoles and nothing to really show for it. Its pretty sad when the biggest next gen game is a 13 year old remake. The next is an overpriced standalone cross gen dlc.
so this is what finally changed your opinion?
I don’t know man, 60/120fps 4k game play is infinitely more exiting to many folks then sack boy.
1st time I played Destiny 2 on pc and had 60fps it was exciting. Might not be what you are looking for but it’s baslicly like adding a new graphic card to your pc and playing old games better. That’s very interesting to many.
They do. Also Cyberpunk 2077.
Presumably all are under an embargo still.
It really doesn't. I think the other 20 comments before yours, saying the same thing, conveyed it pretty well, lol. I guess I don't really look at it the same way. Gears was improved for the console, its not the same release as One-X. This is the same as the rerelease of Spiderman on the Ps5. There is a campaign DLC for gears slated for December. If they have all the next gen improvements added to it, it won't be much different than the Miles Morales scenario either.Next gen walkthroughs should not start with last gen games.

Are you excited for Spiderman MM or the remake of Demons Souls? If so, how is MM any different than a next gen Geara DLC?Sorry, I just can’t get excited about the same games that were on previous consoles being the main selling point of a new console.
Well, for some. But I want new games to play, on these new next gen consoles.
Xbox aren’t even showing us new third party games?
We have not moved away from the x86 Platform (or architecture as you will), they're both still using it. All chips, every logic, pretty much everything is build around that architecture (yes, even the I/O). Nothing is being changed here. That is true for both consoles, hence we get BC without any extra hardware on these systems. This is the same BC you got when you bought a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X.The architecture, I/O, SSD, Audio, Controller, UI, services etc are all being changed for the new generation.

You're the one who said you can't get excited for games that wdre on previous consoles... only to be excited about games that were you know.... on previous consoles, lol. MM is a $40 game in a $70 game world. It is not a full game. The price alone establishes this. I'm not taking away from its relevance or its appeal. I plan on playing it on my Pro. But, I think it is a relevant question. If the Gears DLC takes advantage of the next gen architecture, how is it different from MM in that regard? Length, maybe?Oh god. You’re doing this, are you?
Yes, I’m excited for MM because it’s a new, full game. And yes, I’m very excited for Demon’s Souls because it’s a complete, from the ground remake of the first game in a series I love. I’m not that excited for Godfall, but that‘s also coming, as is Ratchet, Astro’s Playroom, and Sackboy. And many others within launch window.
This really does not feel next-gen. I hope MS delivers some absolute banger next gen titles.

The reality is there are games coming out at launch, including Tactics which got pretty good reviews on PC. Also the Medium is slated to be released Mid-Dec.

Now consoles are releasing like any other consumer electronics device where you upgrade not because of content alone, but rather features and functionality. Series X|S and PS5 just have too many quality of life improvements to pass up if you're still working your way through your current gen backlog. Seriously, I can wait on the new content. It's coming and when it does it won't stop.
I got so sick of the loading times on Xbox One, that I suspended gameplay for two weeks until the Series X comes out.
Really have a hard time wrapping my mind around this way of thinking. The system isn’t even out yet, games ARE actively in develpment. Meantime, all our existing games (4 generations worth) will look and play better than ever.
To me, the CPU and standard SSD’s are ALREADY light years ahead of Jaguar netbook CPU’s. (Both PS5 and Series X).
Lasty, wtf does Sony have that screams “next gen”? A remaster of a PS3 game (demons souls)?
This happens almost every new gen. Cross gen games until developers get their new engines and games ready.
