What life will be in 2100?

Fenix34

I remove teeth
Hello everyone.Your opinions about future life in 2100 (or 2050)
What will be ?Or maybe all finished in Third world war with nuclear weapons
or maybe aliens will come or future life will be like in any futuristic move/game?

If that happened I would take it in a heartbeat. Also it would have to deage me to where I'm in my younger 20s in regards to health and looks
Imagine being physically an eternal 85-year old while others get to be eternal 20-year olds. I'd probably stop taking the pill. Or put myself in cryo until there was de-aging.

Take a guess. Humanity peaked in the 80s and 90s and it's been going downhill ever since. I assume the next decade or two AI will transform everything similarly like the internet did back in the 00s.
Our basic needs (food, shelter etc.) will be covered better than ever before but socially it'll be downhill battle.

The way things are going...

Very communist, alot more poverty and alot less freedom of expression and freedom in general.

Every gen feels the future will be dystopic so this isnt new.

But I think we are closer to that vision then we've ever been before.

We kind of need one of those drastic movie events where the internet is completely wiped out and social media is pointless

Here's to hoping the young'uns now look at genZ and millennials and just loathe everything and make sweeping changes

I'm not that pessimistic

Humans have always been incredibly great at adapting and solving massive existential problems right when things look the darkest. We will have plenty of massive hurdles to clear over the next few decades, but I'm betting on our ability to engineer our way through them rather than just folding

But global nuclear war is the ultimate wild card. If the big red buttons ever get pushed, there is no tech fix, no clever engineering and no policy pivot that saves the day. It is a true endgame scenario.

Maybe will be medicine against death and people will be live forever

Sure that would be free and available to everybody, not exclusive to billionaires.

It's hard to predict what society will look like in 20 years, let alone 80.

Fun fact: in one of the books of my fantasy saga, the world ends in 2200, so there's some margin.

In 2100 the dystopian novels we read today we'll be seen as happy-go-lucky utopist fiction.

This is how I see it too.

Every generation lacks confidence in the succeeding one. No doubt life will be VERY different, and we'd probably hate it if we experienced it, but they'll be fine.

Spot on. We always judge the future using our own comfort levels, which is a trap imo

The generation born later this century will have their own baseline

People right now in the West are fat, lazy, and live on the internet. Everything points to things getting worse in that regard because it's too lucrative to sell excessive entertainment to people like that.

And immigration wars. Europe will become a battlefield of terror wars, at some point the people of Europe will go against the immigrants, and islam will devolve into terror attacks like it always do, but this time Europeans will perform terror attacks back. People are already on edge and once people start dying frustration will turn into hate.

The Crusades 2: Electric Boogaloo

Star Citizen will still be crowdfunded and will have raised about 34 quintillion dollars with no release in sight.

GTA 6 is also finally released after numerous last minute delays.

Still no Half Life 3 :messenger_sad_relieved:

More pronounced gap between wealthy and poor after the 2050s riots due to the plebs' jobs (both white and blue collar) being fully automated. The uprising was easily crushed by private security drones.

Only the rich are exempt from full real-time data tracking and surveillance because you have to pay more than they'd make off of you to be exempt. (Like paying for ad-free Hulu works now).

Life expectancy is ~150 for those who can afford healthcare. And ~90 for those who can't because all that's left for the plebs to eat is bug protein bars (it's healthier than McDonald's).

There was never anything like what we are facing today. And i'm not even talking about nuclear war. That's just the cherry on top. Especially in western countries we are facing the complete deconstruction of values and the fundamental pillars of society. A full on attack on families/children and working gender roles. Add the internet, globalism and AI to the mix and nobody knows what's going to happen in the next 20 let alone 70 years. Wouldn't be surprised if there's going to be a complete collapse of civilization.

It's pretty wild to think that kids born today have the potential to see 2100.

I take a pessimistic view. We're absolutely doing fuck all about climate change and I expect that to be the most significant thing that shapes the future. Whether that means parts of countries, or even entire countries becoming uninhabitable or countries warring over resources, struggling to cope with refugees from the aforementioned countries etc, etc. those things have the potential to completely destabilise the planet and I see no indication that the world has any inclination to think about the bigger picture.

Whatever the case, I think the current path we're on is not a great one.

This pattern of thought has existed for centuries. Industrialisation, the printing press, television, radios, newspapers... these were all cited as catalysts for societal collapse. The only real gamechanger is nuclear weapons, and even as catastrophic as they may be, I still believe the doomsday scenarios surrounding them are overblown.

I think it's reasonable to be concerned about the future without assuming that civilization is headed for collapse. History gives me more reason to expect a messy adaptation than a complete breakdown

What specific values or institutions do you think are being dismantled, and what makes you think it's leading to civilizational collapse rather than social change?

I expect we will have actual Running Man / Squid Games by then. I'm talking some type of battle to the death where the victor takes home a huge chunk of change, all for the viewing pleasure of otherwise law-abiding normal people.

The entire yolo / gambling / prediction market culture that has taken over male youth seems perfectly designed to encourage the mentality of "nothing to lose, my life is shit anyway, may as well go all in". So I don't think they'll have any problem whatsoever finding contestants.

Forget 2100, now that I think of it I'll be surprised if this doesn't exist by 2040. But I'll hedge that bet with the caveat that it will be black market / on the dark web.

Technology, machinery, industrialization was helping the prosperity of mankind up until around the 90s-00s then it all started to pivot, helping the few at the expense/decline of the many. More into poverty, fewer families/community/birthrates, never-ending wars, less freedom/more control, corruption running rampant.
AI, robots, drones, etc will further revolutionize efficiency, productivity, and control. The current divide/displacement will continue to grow until the masses are no longer needed. Unneeded and a threat or will be considered a threat to those on top. Don't need much imagination to see where it all goes/continues to trend from here.
But hey, maybe it pivots again...

I'm pretty terrified imagining what Europe and the rest of the West is going to look like by then.

Our treasonous politicians have sold out the future of their own people.

Third world countries and islam will spread more across the globe and completely take over a lot of western/European countries with UK being the first. This will make the islamic side powerful enough so it can sustain a constant war with the west, without being severely underpowered.

So basically years and years of a world wide war. People will be in constant survival mode and priorities will change. Depending on who wins it will either be a new dark age or a new technological revolution. New dark age will probably last for the rest of humanity until the sun engulfs the earth. New tech revolution will change the world at a faster rate than ever before and humans will become a full Type 1 civilization in no time.

It's probably going to be pretty amazing. We will have worked through the ai bump and people will be moving forward. We will have humans on different planets to protect the species.

People act like we live in a terrible place right now but by nearly ever single metric, it has never been better.

If you see something that does need improvement, get your ass up and help fix it.

We all in an amazing time. Embrace it and make it even better.
