What is the most beautiful game ever?

Since PSSR 2 toggle was released I've been on a graphics binge, just trying game after game, most of them now completely stunning. As good as some of the more recent games look, I honestly think TLOU 2 is still the best looking game ever made. Horizon Forbidden West maybe ties with it.

How crazy is that? A PS4 game, just bumped up a bit and really good IQ.

I know anything path traced on PC beats it, but of the ones I've actually played, that's the best.

My ADHD brain is kicking in. Now I feel like I need to pick back up Tears on the Switch 2.

And we're done here...this is the answer...this is the only game and even better section of a game that I replayed simply because it was beautiful...I still think I have the save right before this moment on my ps3...It almost makes you forget mount cameltoe in the background.

Cyberpunk for me, it brought to life that neon hellscape like nothing has before.

little mention for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora too, as bang average as the game is it is absolutely incredible looking and especially on a 2000+ nit display to make the most of the HDR

BLACK MYTH: WUKONG

There simply isn't another game in existence that excels at BOTH Art Direction AND Technical prowess at the highest level like this game does.

It has the best boss designs I've ever seen, mixed with top tier graphics on a technical level.

Most other games, like the shit from Nintendo (BOTW) From software (All of their games) ,etc, focus on one and completely ignore the other.

You can't do that.

The Avatar game blew me away. It was stunning. I have a pretty high end PC and the game was so gorgeous. My girl didn't realize it was a game at first, she never plays any so I get it. She was shocked.

Wind Waker is one of few times when I've thought: "This game is very beautiful!"

The changing weather on the seas was very beautiful and I don't think any game has surpassed its cel-shading art style.

Getting to the white castle was very memorable.

The Dragon Roost island had some great sparkling fire/lava effects, but also cool smoke.

Souldiers gets my vote. Such a shame the developed stumbled out of the gate with bugs and way too harsh difficulty.

Warframe deserves a mention. The screenshot is 10 years old, I paused for a moment and admired the scenery. "man that looks good!".
You'll have to excuse my TERRIBLE fashionframe.

Many already mentioned BotW & TotK, both are also some of the best looking games out there. Especially you when you consider the render budget they had to work with.

Chrono Cross.

But you have to play it on a CRT at OG resolution. Otherwise the backgrounds look too low res (or have upscaling artifacting/smearing).

Cross when I played it for the first time a few years ago blew me away. The music and art direction is superb and transport you to a wonderful place.

This is the most aesthetically beautiful game I've ever played,

Only thing that hinders is that it's one of the worst optimized game ever in the history of PS5, so much so that it nearly made me buy a high end PC..

I built my first PC for this game. AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and a Radeon 9800 Pro.
It brought my Radeon 9700 laptop variant to its knees. I really didn't understand the concept of high frames per second at the time, I just knew that when I cranked the visuals up, it played like a slideshow. It was still gorgeous at the lower settings.

My picks are going to be 2D pixel-art games. There are many of them that look stunning, timeless.

Yup.
I like the gameplay and story in other games better, but to this day Cross still has my favorite world and soundtrack in gaming.
The mix of tropical and mediterranean inspired locations and the painting like art style of many of the backgrouns is just incredible

There's a ton of indie and AA titles I've come across like ABZU, Kena, Ori, Neva, Planet of Lana, Jusant, Sky: Children of Light, Journey, Sword of the Sea, etc.

The indie scene is exploding with beauty.

If the question was, which game has or had the best graphics, that's a different story.
