• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

What are you guys getting into?

Right now I'm getting back into an almost finished playthrough of Yakuza 6. I like to get all the achievements in these games, so it takes a while and I put them on the backburner for a while sometimes.

The only thing I'm locked in on for Q3 and Q4 is Trails in the Sky 2nd and Gears E-Day.

As for anything else, I'm waiting to see what Nintendo does, 'cause I would be day one for 3D Zelda or Mario. Control Resonant and Kena 2 are high on the list.

Edit: Forgot Metal Gear Solid MC Vol 2. Probably going to get that.

No Man's Sky, again.

I'm playing on survival mode this time and I think it should be the normal mode. Normal mode is too easy. You can ignore most tech. Even on survival mode its challenge doesn't last too long. It should be even more difficult (not permadeath though).

Last night and today. Trying to squeeze out settings for Subnautica 2 on a Legion Go z1e. I think I found a happy spot that upscales well when docked. Now it is time to turn off the frame counter so I do not think about it any more.

For those curious
Performance
1080p
FSR4
Mix of high/medium (with sky set to low)
With lossless scaling 2x (works better than FSR frame gen for me) getting 60 fairly consistently with drops in the mid 50's
*if you use frame gen with a Steam Controller, use the puck. I am not sensitive to controller lag but it was bad trying to use bluetooth mode. With the puck it has been smooth.

I've been getting back into Utawarerumono series, I had already played all the Visual Novels/Strategy RPGs which are the first 3 games and decided to leave Monochrome Mobius for later when they announced the final game which came out last week, since around february I've been replaying the series from the start and I'm currently midways through Mask of Truth (third game), hopefully I'll finish the whole series next month.

No video games appeal to me at the moment. In a slump, so I'm reading posts from other negative nancies complaining about them for now. I did buy Sifu on Switch because it's on sale right now but I don't even feel like playing it.

Going to play the Onimusha demo today.

I do want to play the older Ace Combat games after trying 7, and get my HOTAS setup to work on emulators for them.

Also planning to start Yakuza 0 Director's Cut as a complete newbie to the series. If I like them enough, will look into Judgement and Lost Judgement later.

Game Boy Advance. I got a couple new games as a present, so I finally open up my Analogue Pocket that I preordered years ago and have been playing that. Got through Mario & Luigi and I've been playing Warioware for the first time, and it's been great. Lotta fun - I really like that system, and I really appreciate the distinct style that 2D games from that era had. It's been almost 20 years since I've played a GBA game, so I was way overdue to rediscover it.

Revisited BOI Repentance recently. Dabbling with Fortnite periodically as well. In between jobs ATM, and nothing is really speaking to me, especially new games. Which is a blessing in disguise, lol.

Retro gaming. Found myself starting to play lots of old school type games and started emulating a little but decided to get a superstation one (still waiting for it to ship).
The thing I'm looking forward to the most this entire year though is the neogeo aes+. I've wanted a neogeo for so long and love the games I have played from it's library. I'm super stoked for this, bought the ultimate bundle. I wish I could do physical for all the systems I want and games for them or even a flash cart but I simply don't have the room for that, or budget. Mister fpga (superstation one ) is really a much more practical solution. I'm also getting a retrotink 4k since a crt is out of the question.

I still play new stuff regularly though, playing Forza horizon 6, toxic commando, and other smaller things ATM as well. I feel like going back to retro gaming makes the new games feel fresh and just fine myself easy going with just enjoying myself.

GBA games as a whole...

I never had a GBA, only a GB Player to play Pokemon Ruby on, so I mostly ignored the entire GBA library basically.

I did emulate the odd game here and there even back in the day, but not many.

finished Minish Cap just recently, stated Mega Man Battle Network, will play the Mega Man Zero games after that, and probably the Castlevania games after those.

Currently cycling through...
Achilles Survivor
Luna Abyss
Arc Raiders
Vampire Crawlers
Forza Horizon 6
MegaBonk
Wreckreation
Just picked up a copy of John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, will be giving that a whirl in the coming days.

Also been dicking around with the new Xbox 360 emulator for android, x360 mobile, seeing what I can reliably run on my Odin2 Portal. Very impressive for a first release. Played Geometry Wars and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland for hours last night once I got them up and running.
