Updated XBOX Console Prices

Financing will probably end up being the most popular way to buy a next-gen console, like with new phones. I think that's what Asha was talking about with the "pushing new business models" line.
You might be right but it's also not anything new. They had a heavily marketed monthly financing option for Series consoles as well.

Ayy lmao PS5 hike in the next few weeks and Switch 2 in September, we are fucked.

Valve wasn't kidding when the Ram hikes increased the Steam Machine by 200+ bucks

wtf…. I paid 349 Canadian for my series s.

I'm assuming PlayStation 5 will go up shortly too. I guess that's when I'll flip my launch unit.

They need to push next gen out another year or two.

Not to forget they're also wanting to go back to console exclusives, for a system that was barely selling when it was $200-300 cheaper. Specifically, the soon to be released Gears E-day which reportedly cost upwards of $400 million.

By the way, why not downgrade a bit to a 512gb Series X if the SSD situation is really that bad? Who will pay 600 bucks for a potato like the Series S? And this way people would have the option to exchange or expand the storage on their own, depending on current prices & availability.

Get em while they're hot

Or just get a Pro and join an ecosystem that will be around.

Nah it'll probably be 75/25 or so, maybe 80/20.
We can assume barely any consoles gonna move from now on worldwide for microsoft so that ~35m worldwide instalbase wont change by much till end of the console gen, ps5 tho? Likely gonna hit 110m+ total, and xbox consumer base got trained to never buy games at launch or full price:messenger_ok:
Kinda joked with that 95/5 but i think 90/10 aka 5m on xbox series s/x and 45m on ps5/pr0 is probable, not at launch but ltd.

Pretty much that to worse, there won't be any subsidies unless they're 100 bucks for short term losses, if not they're going to straight rip up the band aid in favor of immediate profits since whatever profit per unit both Sony and MS had were quickly wiped out by AI.

Not bad when you consider the information below. Hardware is in a bad state, and you all can laugh all you want, but no party is winning here, especially when it comes to software sales and Next-Gen. I highly suspect that XSX, and Base PS5 will be supported more than halfway into next-gen if they can't get consoles off the shelf, especially when the consoles we want will most likely cost over $1,000. So laugh away chuckle heads while the studios burn to the ground around us. The only saving grace here is at least Microsoft and Steam have the ability to rely on software sales elsewhere than just their console.

Xbox
  • Xbox Series S 512GB: $499
  • Xbox Series S 1TB: $599

Steam
  • Steam Machine 512GB: $1,075
  • Steam Machine 512GB w/Controller: $1,128
  • Steam Machine 2TB: $1,349
  • Steam Machine 2TB w/Controller: $1,428
Playstation
  • PS5 (Standard Disc Edition): $649.99
  • PS5 Digital Edition: $599.99
  • PS5 Pro: $899.99

Raising the price, again. But good guy MS presents a solution by trying to get people into installment plans in order to afford their shit.

I have a finger for you.

This is wild, I mean PlayStation has also increased their prices as well and people use to give me shit for buying consoles as soon as they come out, bought both the PS5 and PS5 Pro on their respective launch days...so guess who has two thumbs and have saved money by being an early adopter...

Yeah I suppose LTD will be more skewed.

I was thinking more launch sales, which should end up being more like 3 PS5 sales for every Xbox sale based on whose currently playing GTA Online (and in line with what we see with many blockbuster titles)

They also did sell a couple million consoles last year. They aren't totally DOA, at least not in the US. A niche, but a pretty big niche.

By far the worst console generation.

I bought my son a Used series S off of facebook for $125 and that has worked great for him. Seems like a steal now.
