Updated XBOX Console Prices

1TB Series X - Disc edition for $800

Asha has lost her fucking mind.

It's $800.

I don't understand the strategy here, if it was up to me, stop production on all Series S, and the Series X Disc. Only have Series X Digital on the market until Helix, and have 3 Console SKUs for Helix. Then let the chips fall where they may.

The Series X Digital is $749. If anything, the Series S is the only console Microsoft can sell at mainstream console prices.

It is a bad buy today at it's original $500 price. Now they want $800?

This makes me believe even more that Asha was brought in to axe a lot of stuff and sell off Xbox or sell it off in parts.

What kind of brain-dead decision making is going back to exclusives in 2026, in the middle of this pricing crisis.

Hardware is unsellable and they're making some of their software console exclusive again lmao.

Complete shit show.

We'll have to see how prices evolve in 2027, but certainly, with the current situation, the Helix/PS5 would be going for $1500+.
Financing will probably end up being the most popular way to buy a next-gen console, like with new phones. I think that's what Asha was talking about with the "pushing new business models" line.

Xbox is getting a looking merky and people can't get worked up over this price hike, if I'm the Xbox ceo I'm trying to wrap up this gen ASAP, I'd like the series s at $150 now and the overrated series x at $250

At this point I'm just waiting for the next Jez Corden desperate article on Windows Central in the next 2 hours

They expect another doubling in storage- and memoryprices by fall 2027. Time to start saving if you want to buy any console hardware next year.

Absolutely, and I believe this initiative with XSeries is already a foundation for the logistics of Helix....

They already increased their prices a couple of months ago though
Both companies have already increased the price of their machines multiple times. Why would this be the last one? Micron's CEO said just today that there's unlikely to be any improvement in the market until 2028 at the absolute earliest. If you don't know how fucked things are by now, you haven't been paying attention.

The Series X launched at $499 in Nov. 2020. In May 2025 they announced the price was going up to $599. Then in September 2025 it went up again to $649. Now it's going up to $799. So this is the third price increase announced in the last 13 months.
Man, I must have slipped into a different timeline because I SWEAR it was already announced like 2-3 months ago (maybe even further back) that they were increasing the prices, including the Series X going to $799. This isn't "new" info to me.
