The industry is fucked.
I think it's more in response to Steam Machine pricing.Just in time when Sony started GTA VI marketing campaign. This isn't accidental. LOL
$799 Series X (+$150) and $499 Series S (+$100)

They most certainly will. Just depends if it's before or after GTA VI release.Why? Sony might follow![]()
Which is smart of them. Wanna play GTA day one and be able to afford a console to play it? Well, then buy a console now, before it goes up in price...
They're also doing this to condition people into paying more for next gen. Putting a $1500-$2000 price tag on Helix is a lot harder to do if the Series X could be had for $600. But when compared with an $800 7 year old console...Seriously had to re-read to make sure it was a price increase and not decrease...
I was half expecting them to do the opposite, because if you don't have an Xbox at this point, you're probably someone on last gen and it's time to upgrade and entrench them. May as well if XSX/S production is basically done. Why not with Helix around the corner?
But now if you're a total neutral who wants to play GTA6, they're all getting PS5s. This seems like them just trying to make Xbox One people pay more.

That backfired so hard
This is the canary in the coal mine, if Apple can't secure RAM and Flash at reasonable prices everyone else is truly cooked.FYI Apple with even all their software driving profits officially called the flash memory crisis "unsustainable"
It's like Asha sees what Jez is writing to only "hold my beer"-challenge him lol![]()
That backfired so hard
They must be losing like $300+ on the 2TB, crazy.Sunsetting 2tb model, wtf![]()
RTKinda regret selling mine.
If i had known it would have been worth more a year later I would have just waited.
People really think Xbox will survive this? Lol
At least for nowThe series x for 800, for $100 more you can get a ps5pro...
People here can't skip a chance to blame Microsoft/xbox for somethingI don't know how many endless times we need to see this happen for people to understand that this isn't an Xbox issue, or a Playstation issue, or a Nintendo issue, or a Valve issue.
This is an AI/inflation/tariff issue.
Yeah, I think they're purposefully killing off Xbox.Xbox Series S 512GB: $399 --> $499
Xbox Series S 1TB: $449 --> $599
Xbox Series X 1TB: $649 --> $800
Xbox Series X 1TB Digital: $599 --> $750

Yeah it's not going to get better anytime soon. It'll also hit Nintendo again.People here can't skip a chance to blame Microsoft/xbox for something
Sony will do it again too, the ram prices are killing everything
I'm almost certain they're still losing money after these new prices. It's just a manageable amount now rather than $200+. Probably like $50-75 now.Ram prices. So either they take a net loss of $100-150 per console sold, or they up the price by $100-150 to not take additional losses each sell, but it will hurt the volume of sell.
Well it's not like they sold a crap load of consoles these days anyway...
Thats current endconsumer price of decent enough 2tb ssd:They must be losing like $300+ on the 2TB, crazy.
Asha outdoing Phil in record time![]()
