Well in Unity's particular case the man generated an exponentially increased loss instead, which I tend to think is the real reason and the recent event was merely a nail in the coffin.
He has been there since 2014, stock started dropping only in Nov 2021. Which give that they did IPO a year later lost likely people started cashing in and this has nothing to do with the fee scandal. If anything the fee was probably a response to them losing their competitiveness in the market.

I'm talking about actual loss from their business not share price, they have now accumulated 2.2 billion deficit which is only growing faster every year.
