Looks really cool! When I first saw the 3rd one I thought it was some kind of Middle-Eastern door.

LTTP: HDTV Calibration Tool.

Is this any good? I got a HDTV recently but my 360 is hooked up to my PC monitor. Is it worth bringing it over just do to a calibration on the TV?
I use an lcd, but the tool was completely useless to me as the image it was telling you to make was way out of wack (when you had to adjust for the cortana image, black and white grunt etc)

Has anyone else been having trouble with screenshots lately? Last week I went through a campaign playthrough and took about a dozen screens. The "uploading to bungie.net" message appeared for about two minutes for each one of those screens, and in the end half of them never showed up as a save screen on the 360 or on bungie.net.

I'm going through a playthrough now, and it's doing the same thing - VERY long upload times, and bungie.net just skipped three of my shots (the best ones, too).
Yeah, the same thing has been happening to me. Those shots that I posted of Halo took each took about two minutes to upload to B.net And another minor glitch that I hope gets fixed with AU is how if you leave the control panel (fast forward, pause, rewind) up on the screen during the uploading process, then you can continue to move the camera around, fast forward, and do everything else. But if you hit B to remove the control panel from view, then everything freezes until the uploading message goes away. And you can't bring the control panel back up. So if you accidently hit B, everything is frozen for a while. It's really annoying.

Same for me.

ok guys if i said anything stupid in halo threads probably about mlg or anything in the past i'm sorry. i was clinically depressed for 5 years but now i'm better and happy :D

but really i didn't mean anything i said because this really is a great game and right now is definitely better than halo 2, and i mean that when i play just for fun and competitively. and it's only going to get better because bungie will fix stuff and it'll be pretty awesome. so sorry frankie and luke and everybody else

i'm going to try and go pro in halo 3 now because i'm pretty good at it and it's amazingly fun and i'm getting better every time i play now that i don't have extreme anxiety problems. if anybody wants a new friend or wants to play mlg without anybody yelling at anybody (kids do that because they are insecure) send me a friend request: my pet dinosaur

Yeah, not much help.

i also dislike the infinite respawning enemies part of the game but there is a sniper lvl in the game that is a lot of fun so def hold out for that part if you aren't enjoying it

that alone (infinitely respawning baddies) made cod2 >>>>>> cod4 for me. i hate that crap. there were way too many spots in cod4's single player game where i'd be struggling holding a spot before i realized all i needed to do was charge ahead a bit and bad guys would stop coming. took me rightout of the fun of the experience. lame. of course its MP is way better then 2's though, so that makes up for it in spades.

halo 3 related.... sorry, awesome about the ghosts/choppers/mongoose on the maw run. i'll have to give that a go. like a few of you, i've been on an extended halo break. i bought the maps and love them, but most of my real life friends are waiting for them to be free and hooked on cod4 at the moment. i will return, cod4 is already fading a bit for me, i miss halo's epic and truly unpredictable encounters :)

team slayer ranking system :|

if you're MVP you should auto rank up.

That'd be cool.

There should also be a running tally on B.Net of how many MVPs you've gotten.

Also, While I'm waiting for a game, instead of Did You Know Facts on the bottom left, it'd be cool if they'd have a slideshow of community screenshots and stuff.

Thanks. I wonder if it's something related to the Live issues, or on Bungie's side. I was taking a series of themed shots and a few of them got cut. I saved the film so I'll complete it later.

I spent about 40 minutes playing a section of The Ark with what I've concluded is a perfect skull combination (Legendary + catch + mythic + thunderstorm + cowbell + Grunt bdp), and then an hour going back through the film. I'm finding that going back through a good film is often as entertaining as the playthrough was in the first place.

I was doing a series of shots involving characters taking flight after getting nailed by a (cowbell-enhanced) grenade. With catch turned on that happens a LOT. Pretty often I'm busy running for dear life and someone will just launch from the corner of my eye. Or even better, a corpse will fall straight out of the sky and land in front of me. :lol

A few radom moments:

I was on foot for the vehicle encounter after the two Prowlers showed up, and I needed a ride.

I boosted accross a slope and did a corkscrew through the broadside of another chopper.

Seperating a Grunt from his ride.

Fun with rockets.

It's remarkable how many OMG moments happen over the course of a regular session in this game.

even the first time i stole a brute chopper from a brute was an OMG moment for me it is just a sweet animation i think with chief swinging around and booting them out

Sorry to be a c-c-c-combo breaker, but I've been meaning to post this...

Can someone help me understand why Bungie chose to make all Banshees other than the ones in the aerial battle of the Covenant unflyable? I think that is extremely lame. When I first played through the game, every time I saw a Banshee I thought: "oh, man, I can't wait to play through later and jack that!" Turns out I can't. These two shots are of me being greatly disappointed:

I suppose even if I could board one, I couldn't get very far because of Halo 2 and 3's "invisible walls." Ugh.

I remember the days of Halo 1 where if you SAW it, you could get to it. There were no death barriers or invisible walls. Getting to the bottom of the shaft on Silent Cartographer, on top of the hills on Halo, or down the cliffside beneath the bridge on Assault on the Control Room - all could be done, with some ingenuity and effort - and typically with a LOT of time. The only thing that hindered us was the fall timer - which we developed interesting ways of getting around (and that's a lot more interesting than an insta-death zone). Things like that are the reason that I still play Halo 1, six years after its release.

I honestly don't understand why we at least can't board Banshees. I can't imagine any casual players doing it on their first play through, so it's not like it would break the game. Besides, it doesn't even make sense. Why can I board a Banshee at one part of the game, but not at another? Why can I not fly a completely unoccupied Banshee that's just sitting on the ground? Lame.

Referring to the announcement trailer:

The landscape you saw is real geometry - the mountains and city in the distance are not a skybox - they are actual geometry that you can go to.
Not only can you not "go to" the city, you can't even "go to" the Dreadnought in the center of the portal structure due to a double set of invisible walls. Trust me, I've tried (with the camera, because there's an insta-death zone that kills your player if you cross it).

Did you really expect them to let you go all the way over there?

And like I said, in Halo 1 you could basically go to anything you could see if you could figure out a way to get there. There weren't invisible walls and insta-death barriers.

I see what you are saying, but they probably meant it in the sense that it is an actual thin in the world that you could interact with.
Yeah, "actual geometry" would have covered that. But they chose to add "that you can go to." Call me crazy, but I thought that meant that I could go there.

so you can't fly over there when you are watching a film?

No, not even close. Not even to the Ark platform thing. And you have to use trickery to even get THAT far.

Fun with the hammer. I'm actually only killing the top two, the guy laying on the bottom was from a previous hammer kill... but he ended up still making the highlight shot. :D

Well, the fact remains, it is real geometry, not a skybox. As I mentioned in many an update, if you got there, there'd be nothing to do or see, but the draw distance combined with real geometry makes for a more convincing sense of distance. It's not Oblivion - you're not supposed to go there.

If you come by the office, I will personally detach the debug cam and fly out there for you.

On a related note, you can do that very thing during the opening of The Ark. Detatch the camera during a saved film when it moves to first person on the Pellican. Fly out. Got a mile or so to fly around in. I assume everyone and their mother has done so at this point, but it was interesting for me to see what is drawn out in detail (a LOT) and what isn't.

I understand, but you can see how my expectations were not fulfilled when it turned out that you actually couldn't "go to" the city, like you'd put it.

Did anyone else ever blow a Ghost on top of Blood Gulch and hover backwards up the invisible slope for ten minutes straight? I've been meaning to do that and get a screenshot - you can go so far out that the level is literally the size of your thumbnail on the screen. I thought everyone had done it, but I've actually not been able to find anyone else that remembers.

have any of you guys run into people jumping off the map in construct and sitting stuck at the bottom past gold lift trying to wait out the game in double team?

I definitely remember doing that stuff. But you didn't have to blow the ghost up, to get it up there. There is a certain path you can take to ride up it in the ghost. It's been so long that I would have to go back and play it to remember exactly what you do.

You could also get on top of the map on the opposite end of Blood Gulch with the ghost, but that way is ten times harder and more of a luck thing. I remember having to boost up the cliff with a ghost, strafe sideways till you just cross a rock that juts out, and then boost even higher up a long a very specific line. I'd always try and take the sniper rifle up there, but it was more trouble than it was worth.

Do you remember getting on top of sidewinder? You could back the warthog into a specific area and use grenades and a rocket launcher to blast it up on top. Then you could strafe a ghost sideways into the same spot, dismount the ghost while it was still moving, and get sandwiched between the ghost and the cliffside, so that it would shoot you up over the top. Then with the warthog you could go drive around sidewinder.

I'm glad you brought that stuff up, Cocopjojo. I had forgotten.:D

I agree with halo 1 and how fun it was to go anywhere if you found a way, especially on the silent cartographer map, it was basicly an open world you could have great fun with in co-op.

Yeah, they're called gheylords.

Double Team turns into a campfest parade of deuchebaggery way too often. It makes me sick.

And too many people, on Snowbound, have the loosest, sloppiest, and stinkiest Shield-Door-Vaginas. They'll sit downstairs until you walk your ass down there out of sheer boredom. I hate it. Having to resort down to their level and play the "Let's stare at eachother through the shield door while I run through and throw a grenade then back up real fast, and we'll do this until the fusion cores respawn and then one of us will get blown up."

Ugh.

had a little break from Halo and went back on last night with some gaffers, BenjamineBirdie, The Lamonster and Snack.

Needle straight back in the vains, hooked again and looking forward to bail for work later and getting back on.

We need to all get together for a private some time, dying to try my skills at Grifball.
