I bought and explored the new maps. I like them all a lot, though they are still a little confusing so far.

I think I may like Rat's Nest the most, the idea of driving through those long halls to capture the flag is just too cool.

Since these maps are not in matchmaking yet I decided to play around with forge, will post stupid results later :D

If anyone is looking for another player for some games on the new maps, add me: Diablohead UK

downloading the new maps now...

didnt bungie say they were going to create a seperate playlist for these maps until they were incorporated into the regular playlists?

jesus 487.18 MB?! What did you guys put in these maps?!
Makes you wonder eh, All the DLC(i think there were 8?) maps from H2 are just above 500MB.

p.s Bungie..your leveling system blows. :p

Is there a playlist for people with the new maps in social or ranked? this decides whether or not i buy the pack.
There will be, Its probably just not up yet. (it is still only 9:30 am on the west coast)

Just tested out the maps in a little one-on-one with my little cousin. Standoff is a nice snipy map (ironic considering the lack of a sniper rifle), with the Laser and BR getting the most action, and the game devolving into a very tense hide and seek amidst the rocks and valleys.

Rats Nest is actually pretty good in 1-on-1, the middle and the area by the pelican got the most hammering, and the solitary ghost is easily combated by numerous other ways so it can't dominate the map.

Foundry is a 1-on-1 masterpiece though, cat and mouse in between the crates is brilliant fun and very tight. There's enough places to get fleeting glimpses of your opponent and set up ambushes, but enough alternate routes that you can be fucked up if you're not watching your back.

Very fun, I just need Bungie to get their act together and release the hopper, so I can own everyone with my knowledge of where the BR's are.

I'm conceptualizing a map in Foundry. For anyone who has the map -

--How many man cannons can be placed in the map?
--Can man cannons be propped up against walls or on their side to launch in various directions, not just up?
--Can the shield doors be put on their side, like a floor/ceiling?

I'll be snagging this tonight and spending the evening Forging in Foundry.

1. 8 by default. Edit: having all 8 activated kinda kills my framerate unfortunately.
2. Yep, they behave like any other object and launch you (or anything else) in any direction seemingly.
3. In a backhand way I could see someone getting a shield door to lie horizontally but they seem to not want to by design.

Good enough. Thanks.

Population counts have a delay. Let me know what you think.

I think I could take Kasparov in a chess match if Putin was standing behind him, massaging his shoulders and whispering in his ear.

lol I thought you didnt care about your level?!

whats up nutter Im gonna download the maps today and pick up a new Halo disc soon. (how long have I been saying that now?)

look out for noobs in your halo stealing your internets.

Two things:

1) The maps are awesome. Thank you Bungie!

2) Happy birthday to my son, he turns 2 today. Why did I put this in the Halo thread? Well, because he's the biggest fan I know.

Proof.

Indoctrination? Absolutely.

The maps are terrific. I'm so impressed.

Rat's Nest surprised me. Rat's Nest is probably my favorite vehicle map, even more so than Sandtrap, just because it has more structure. Grabbing Plasma Grenades and trying to stick oncoming Warthogs on RN was really fun, and I'm getting good at it, so lots of Double and Triple Kills for me. Standoff is awesome, too. Also, I think it was a great choice to leave the Sniper Rifle off Standoff. Sadly, I haven't played on Foundry.

I just played by 200th game. Awesome.

My main problem is that all these idiots veto unless it's Rat's Nest. Do these fools have something against variety. It's like early in the beta where everything that wasn't High Ground was vetoed.

Rats Nest is Awesome. The Fun Factor of that map can be summed up in the following pictures:

Bungie has listened! No more maulers on Construct! 4 maulers down to 2 on Narrows!

Maps are amazing! Standoff is perfect! Foundry feels so.. Halo! :D

Awww "wa'hog"

I won't be playing the maps for a couple of months now (next weekend is my last game weeked for a month and half and I'm going to try and finish ME), but please keep posting impressions and screenshots.

Mc Voc, saw the video of your kid and that's so cool and adorable. When I was a kid I was playing with matchbox cars and stuff, now kids have friggin' warthogs.

Just watched the RvB video. I don't know what they do, but there's something about how RvB films their movies that makes Halo 3 look REALLY good. I noticed this when they did their first video for the beta.

Enjoying the maps so far, but I am finding that it's mostly 3-star generals (or whatever they're called) that're playing, making the games incredibly aggressive and unfun. We need more noobs in the DLC hopper!). Also, 12 players is a bit overkill, especially on Foundry and Stadoff (Rat's Nest is fun, looking forward to BTBing that). Objective gametypes like CTF and Assault are really hard with too many players piling in to a very small space.

Other than that though, great maps, enjoying them very much.
