I can't tell you how much it annoys me when I see people say they played on Normal mode, before reaching the expected disappointment with scale. The enemy count is HALF on Normal. HALF!

I've never read one positive impression of campaign from somebody who has gone through on normal mode.

Now that that's out of the way.

I wonder what 343's 'Last time you asked me..' comment from HALO 1 now means in the grand scheme of things. I think it had been placed there for a possible sequel, but they ended up ignoring that tangent.

Also am I the only one who was slightly irked by 343's going bezerk/rampant? I mean in terms of how he acted in maintaining protocol. In HALO 1 he treated your death as necessary and nothing to be miffed by and THAT is what made him seem more sinister. The fact that he acted robotic, disconnected and cold toward disdainful actions as opposed to the actions of a zealot (see: Truth) was what I loved about him, as much as I wanted to kick his ass.

Man, those are awesome - and it never occurred to me that they'd make the other Spartan armor perms as well!

And yeah, I really can't wait for Infection to hit Matchmaking - I played it in a few Custom Games and it was pretty fun!

Glad to hear that then. I knew normal wasnt the best difficulty to review the game overall but as i said i wanted to know how the story ends and what happens asap.

And my comments were in general and from a first playthrough. I expected to have more encounters on heroic/legendary but also stated i have played 2 chapters on legendary 4coop.

Anyway as i said, glad to hear the enemy count is half on normal.

Placed in context with the ARG and the terminals, it seems obvious to me (finally) that humanity isn't Forerunner, but is the inheritor to the Forerunner's technology. Here are some excerpts from the terminals found in Halo 3:

I'm trapped. On a beautiful, empty world. Its inhabitants have been safely indexed, every single one of them. They're special--well worth the effort it took to build one final gateway even at this late hour.

Did I tell you? I built a garden. The earth is so rich. A seed falls and a tree sprouts or a flower blooms. There's so much...potential. We knew this was a special place because of them, but unless you've been here, you can't know.

It's [Eden].

And then, from the "Cradle of Life" comic from the ARG:

And he watches the Gods as they build their machines.

He does not know why they are here, or what they are building, deep in the earth. He does not know why they disturb the Mother. But still, he watches.

So humanity isn't Forerunner. The Monitor says what he says because he understands that humanity was chosen by the Forerunners to be their successors. But he obviously doesn't understand that humanity hasn't been given all of the Forerunners' knowledge.

There's still more going on here than what we've been privy to. Why does the Monitor not understand that humanity doesn't realize its inheritance to Forerunner technology? The likely answer to this is that the character from the terminals - the one talking about finding a garden, who seemed to be the only Forerunner to actually know about humanity - did not have time to make all of the arrangements. Perhaps the only information that was able to be transmitted to the installations was that humanity was to be treated as though they were themselves Forerunner.

Another question I have is regarding the Chief in "The Flood" book, when he activates the light bridge on the first Halo.

The display's shimmering geometric patterns nagged at him, as if he should recognize them somehow. Even with his enhanced memory, he couldn't place where he'd seen them before. They just seemed... familiar.

He wasn't sure why he touched the "button" on the display. He just knew it felt right.

I still don't have an explanation for this. I have a few ideas, but none with any supporting evidence.

But at least we finally know the core story behind humanity and the Forerunner race.

-Leaving traces of instructions, and letting us know EVERYTHING about the rings are two totally different thing. Why let us know about a massively deadly weapon if we do not need to know about. However, leaving traces of what would need to be done if the situation arises could be possible.

I don't know what you mean about Just One Forerunner. Are you talking about The Librarian? She had LOTS of help with her Indexing.

Thinking of it that way makes sense. The genetic enhancements to the Spartans that made them smarter allowed them to access "instincts" that normal humans can't. And if humanity was genetically altered thousands of years ago, the implanted information could be stored like instincts.

Personally, I think that's just a nod to Bungie lore. The last sentence of the backstory/plot introduction in the Marathon manual is "Oddly , this is familiar to you, as if it were from an old dream, but you can't exactly remember...", and variations of that phrase became commonly used throughout the old-school bungie fan community (mostly for things that are recurring themes or elements that are never actually explained, like uses of the number 7, the marathon logo appearing in Halo, etc).

I thought I had checked all the terminals. But I did them on easy and from rally points. Thinking I had done something wrong I started the Ark from the beginning and opened the first terminal, after doing that I got the Marathon achievement so it turns out that only the first terminal wasn't properly registered.

Just read all the terminals and Voc's epic posts. The backstory is seriously dramatic and very interesting. The pivotal moment(s) remind me of the eradication of the Jedi's in Revenge of The Sith, or the decimation of the elves in Middle-Earth as described in The Silmarillion (before the events of LOTR)

Yeah, it was Santrap BTB. It was VIP, and the other team had sriven their Elephant to this middle area between the large rock thingys, and they had turned the Elephant sideways so it was almost impossible to get on except through the air.

BTB Sandtrap is soooo good. I could play it all day.

To get the Rogue helmet you need to get the "Spartan Officer" achievement, and to get the Security Shoulder pieces (which is what that Rogue armor picture is using) you need to get 750/1000 gamer points from Halo 3.
