I think this has something to do with privacy settings on the dashboard. You should hear anyone that's on your team during a game. You should also hear the opposing team if you're close to them, usually when you're dead.

Here's as damaged as I could get it before moving onto the next destroyable part on the Scarab. I'm guessing there's another specific area you have shoot to fully remove the gun.

There is. At the first scrab fight my AI allies took down the cannon thing at the top at least (can't remember if they destroyed the thing on the front too). They hammered it something fierce with the missile pods.

Yeah. What I did to take down the scarab cannon was to first kill all the enemies riding the scarab, rip off a plasma turret, jump on top of the scarab, and then unload into the top cannon. Thing blew up after several seconds. It was glorious.

When fighting the scarab in "The Ark", I just blew off the back cover and then shot the vulnerable area once it was exposed. I didn't even have to get out of my tank. You just gotta make sure that you can flank the scarab faster than it can turn around.

If you are in a playlist that has teams larger than 4 (i.e. Social Slayer, BTB, etc.) then you and your teammates must press UP on the D-Pad to talk. You must have teammates that are morons (Highly Possible in every game you play)

If you are playing Lone Wolves all communication is turned OFF during the games.

If you are playing team games with teams of 4 or less (i.e. Ranked Team Slayer, Ranked Team Objective) then there is Open Chat, which means you can constantly talk, even when dead.

Or you might have your settings changed, Hit start at anytime and check it out.

Also, there is an icon in the lower right hand side of your screen that shows you what the games chat setting is. (i.e. There is a flashing Antenna if the game is open chat.)

Also check your chat privacy settings, it might be that you have "friends only" switched on which means you can only speak to and hear your friends.

You can check that by hitting the guide button and choosing "settings" or something like that.

Oh, thanks for the invite in the wee small hours Gaffers, it was great to finally play with more of you and have a fun, stress free time while playing with those random internet strangers you hear about on the news.

Sorry I wasn't more talkative, I had to keep the noise to a minimum as it was like 3am :3

I was also elated to finally get my triple kill with the sword acheivement (and with it the triple kill acheivement :3) before that game.

Only 3 "impossible" multiplayer acheivements to get. Which leads me to... do stickies have to be in the SAME MATCH or are they accumulative?

:lol I played against you in a game earlier, presuming your gamertag is also sp0rsk! Didn't get a chance to talk to you though, I only realized it was you quarter way through the game.

Same match. It's actually not that hard. I did it on Guardian without even trying, if you hang out by that one ramp that has the two sticky grenades at the top of it, they respawn pretty fast.

I just cannot time things right to get that Triple Kill /w Sword achievement and I'm up to friggin 43 in Lone Wolves. By now no one wants to just "give" me the achievement....might have to try this language change thing.

Had a crazy BTB game on Valhalla last night where I ended up with 65 kills. It was Neutral Bomb. Game ended tied 2 to 2. I had 46 kills with the Warthog Turret:lol I ended up being +51 I think. Had two Kill Frenzy's, several Triple Kills, one Running Riot. Was crazy and really fun. Definitely a break from some of the tense action Slayer, Objective and Tactical offer.

Sounds like a fine idea, but it could be painful trying to get on to Guardian a lot :lol

Oh well, it's way more likely than the Spartan laser one ;)

People were complaining about Cortana? Halo on Legendary has got to be the single most diabolically bad gaming moment of my life.

First of all it took me easily over an hour to reach the top of the tower. Dying over and over and over again because of a retarded amount of Flood magically spawning behind me. I eventually ended up having to move about one meter every 10 minutes, clearing out every monster that spawned. And after the excrutiating battle to the top, and the mind numbingly boring "boss fight" I'm rewarded with a catastrophically bad racing course. This part alone took me an hour and also cost me a controller out of pure hatred and frustration.

What the hell was this driving segment about? Why did I have to drive for an hour over crumbling tiles and molten lava? What was the reasoning behind bars of metal that miraculously fell right into my path causing me to flip over into more Flood and having to redo the entire thing? And lastly, the checkpoints. The lack of checkpoints during this God forsaken disaster of a level is unforgivable. I don't understand how Bungie thought it would bring anything positive to my experience having to countlessly redo these torturing pieces of gaming Hell.

If a level has ever made me consider suicide, this was it.

Wow...I have not done it solo yet...but with two other people it was fun as hell...

That's not Cortana, thats 'Halo', if Bungie.net ever updates again I'll show you how easy I found it on legendary. Wasn't hellish at all, the enemies dont 'magically spawn behind you' they land in their little pods, at pre-set destinations, and if you try and charge through the level, they'll catch you and you'll die. I took a battle rifle and a grav hammer and blasted my way through with ease, think I died once before I got to the top, 2 or 3 times at the top, that was it.

And the drive at the end taking an hour? wtf? how can you possibly suck that bad? It takes like 15 minutes even if you die a few times.

You sound like you're still a little upset from the ass raping you just got.

That level and it's final segment are awesome.

I too attempted to run past the
flood
at the beginning of that level but it's a no go. They follow your ass all the up to the building. You have to take your time and kill them all, which it took you an hour to find out.

Maybe so, but I'm not at all exaggerating my frustration here. The level on solo, particularly the driving part, was just awful. I forgot to check how many times I died but I'd say it was easily over 100 times.

If I were given more checkpoints it would have certainly softened the blow, but forcing me to redo a huge segment because of the slightest error of brushing against a random metal bar is a universe away from fun.

I still dont understand how did you die so many times on the driving section? Were you trying to kill everything or something?

...seriously you need to put up the video of this on your fileshare it sounds hilarious.

My driving is fine. It's the retarded obstacle course over lava and the perfect accuracy of those laser droids causing me to flip into oblivion. That's what the problem is.

I couldn't kill anything since I was driving. Maybe that added to the difficulty.

the last level is called Halo not Cortana, Cortana is the on the flood infested covenant cruiser.

I know. It's the other guy that made a mistake, not me. I was questioning why people were complaining about Cortana when Halo was far more painful for me. He probably understood "Halo" to mean the game and not the level.

As for the fileshare, I'll see what I can do. :lol

In my defence it was 4am and it was all I needed for 1000/1000, so obviously any mistake or level of unluck was amplified.

I wish on legendary only, on the last level

'Halo'
For the warthog run, I wish you had a timer to make it across to each checkpoint section before the whole floor section would explode out. So that you had to race to each section under pressure.

I actually had no problems with the last section as I'm a pretty good/decent warthog driver.

Tsavo Highway, I hate you.

On legendary, I have two skulls turned on (Thunder Storm and Fog) and the endless amounts of brutes, coupled with the FRG chiefs and the wraith just keep taking me out. Got them down to 1 chief and the wraith then got myself killed in the most stupid of ways.

I'd have preferred if the floor was crumbling from behind you, so that you're under constant, yet exciting pressure of having to drive fast and accurately. I didn't like that tiles would randomly fall infront of me forcing me to slow down and awkwardly make my way around them while simultaneously having to avoid the laser droids.

And for God's sake, more checkpoints wouldn't hurt.

That's where I'm stuck right now. I have 3 gold skulls on, and I'm totalled fucked.. pinned down behind that bunker.

I think your missing my point.
I thought that section was too easy. I felt the checkpoints were fair.. and I had no problem with the falling tiles in front of you. I want a timer in addition to it all. (there are much tougher on-foot battles on legendary than this little driving course.. this being the last section of the game/trilogy. It could stand to be a little tougher.)

That took me forever on legendary, although no skulls turned on. BR headshots, and then getting close enough to the wraith that the reticle turned red and I could damage the guys inside. Worked out great though because I was able to get the wraith myself undamaged and beat the rest of the level with ease with it

I can't think of a good way to phrase this exactly, but does anyone know if you will still hit your next rank if you HAD the skill level at one point, but don't at that time? I'm thinking this might actually work since I believe on your service record it shows your highest acquired skill, and not necessarily your current. I once had a 30 but dropped to 29, but my service record still showed 30. Example: If I had gotten a skill level of 30, but then had deranked to 28. Down the road 28 is still my highest and I get 200 exp. Would you still hit Major, or would you have to get back up to 30 again once you meet the exp requirement?

I do believe it's your highest skill ever achieved. So in that case, yes, you would get your major.

Hey guys - I'm reviewing this game for my university's newspaper. I haven't been able to play the party-only modes yet (Campaign co-op, Custom Games, Forge). Let me know if you'd like to help me. I'm off class around 5:00 and totally free for the rest of the day.

I've played over 100 ranked team slayer games now. I'm starting to get a little frustrated. I know the game came with more than 3 maps but I wouldn't know it if I just went by what maps I've been playing. All I get is: Snowbound, Narrows & Isolation (with the Pit thrown in every once and a while). I've never played Team Slayer at Valhalla (is this a Team Slayer map?) I've played Gaurdian probably less than 10 times. Same with high ground. Construct is sprinkled here and there. I haven't checked my stats online in a while so I may be off a bit.

I've come to the conclusion that Bungie's matchmaking system should have stayed with the Xbox. When Xbox Live was introduced, and online play on consoles a new idea, I can see why Bungie would want to hold players' hands. Hey - just hit your A button and you're in a match - presto! Things are different now. I want control. I want to pick a room, pick a map, and pick a game type. Why couldn't Bungie just incorporate the two systems - matchmaking/party system and another where you pick the map/gametype (like R6:V or GOW)?

I think what would help is if we were given two veto buttons - X for gametype and Y for map. Because of the Shotty Sniper fiasco, nobody vetos team slayer anymore. Why? Because we know if we veto a map it will go to Shotty Snipers. Why cant I just veto a map without the risk of going to Shotty Snipers?

Do you get an extra EXP for being MVP?

No, but you really should.

I wish the exp system was better. 1 point for winning sure, but also additional points for doing things like arming a bomb that ends up detonating, returning flags, being the MVP, etc. This would enable people who don't win to still have a chance to get an exp point or so not to mention give more incentive to play objective games how they're supposed ot be played and not like slayer

That and a MP points system like in the meta-game. Purpose? None really, although I guess you could have a points leaderboard. I just think it would be neat

Here's an incentive for playing objective games properly: if you win, you get an experience point.

If you're playing ranked games, you should be winning more than you lose until you reach the correct level, and then you should win about half the games, so you'll get plenty of experience. I don't see the problem.

Everyone's stats still not updating on Bungie.net? Mine still aren't. I enjoy continuing to monitor my stats. My K/D Ratio is up over my K/D Ratio in Halo 2.

It wasn't about being challenging, it was an homage to the ending of the first Halo.

I LOVED the last level,
Assault on the Control Room redux, and The Maw Redux, I don't know a better way they could have ended it for me, personally.

Your still missing the point...
The Maw had a countdown timer on all difficulties, and on legendary you couldnt make many/any mistakes or you wouldnt make it.

All I want is a timer to make it even harder. I felt it was too easy.
The content was perfect. Just not challenging enough of a finish.
I agree, it was a great way to wrap it all up. Just make it tougher for the masochists out there.

I really wish they'd add a timer in a future update.
Countdowns do something really neat to your psyche.

It had an environmental timer.
If you spend too long on the circular platforms, they will collapse while you are on it. Plus, I am almost certain that the percentage countdown i actually independant from your mvoements, I am sure you can fail.

I never felt rushed at all.
I took plenty of time in areas. Percentages I think were just triggered by area you were in.
Whatever it was, time was never an issue.

Besides, countdown timers do something neat to the psyche. Makes things seem more important, and you can challenge yourself on your own personal time.

I felt it had a good enough timer. I found out on my first play of it that the tiles eventually all fall away. I made the mistake of starting to go the wrong way then turning around. By the time I figured out where to go the whole section fell away.
