Why is this such a big deal to you? Is a few days going to kill you if it takes it that long to straighten out?

That's the thing. I don't think its going to get straightened out. We're probably gonna lose all our stats dating back to Thursday night.

Have you played it on Legendary yet? I think the harder the difficulity you play it on, the more epic battles you're bound to be a part of.

The skirmishes are certainly much more intense, but that's as far as they go, even on legendary. The numbers of enemies/friendlies on screen just never quite reach that "holyshitwtf" size.

Even against Scarabs, I felt like it was mostly just me vs. the world. I'm hardly discounting the fun of what's in the game, but I admit I was hoping for one big bang similar to what was conveyed by the diorama.

Oh noes!

Anyways, when the game first hit the stats weren't updating immediately either and they eventually showed up.

This is the only reason I care, I got a few medals in the games missing (I'm missing about 60-70 games) that I got very lucky with, and may not get again any time remotely in the future.

I'm glad you understand what I mean. It doesn't help that the AI is poop especially when it comes to vehicles.

So I just got into 8th level on legendary. Congratulations Bungie, you made me hate a game that I thought was GOTY. I'm wondering if anyone playtested that level at all on legendary. SOMEONE must of noticed that it's absolutely NO fun... especially on legendary. I have a feeling that if I don't beat it before orange box comes out it will be the last day I play halo 3.

Stick with it, the next level is not to be missed. If you really hate that level, just turn down the difficulty. I don't understand people who can say that 'hate' a game because of one level, after loving the rest. 1 shit level in a 10 level game ruins the whole thing? These are the same people who will say a movie is pure shit if they love it up to the ending (ie: A spielberg film).

Does beating legendary add any extra to the ending?
Shit, I forgot that it does and I even beat it on Legendary. God dammit. I think you can Youtube it though. Pretty sure it's hosted in some shitty footage where the dude videotapes his TV.

what's up with the septagon next to people's LIVE name? i know it has nothing to do with linked names on bungie.net because i don't have one. sorry i don't have a picture

I've already beat it on heroic. That was just an annoying hour. This is actual hate. I have no idea how bungie manages to make some of the best games I've ever played and at the same time include 1 shit level in both of them(hello library).

I NEED some people to play MP with, all my regular buddies keep getting pissed off and quitting on me...

GT is EVERYlosersHERO if any gaffers wanna add me, I'm on right now if anyone has something going on now!

I know exactly what you mean, but when you think about what type of gameplay those huge battles would have- it wouldn't really be halo- or any game for that matter. What game has larger encounters than halo- ones in which what you do actually affects the battle, and everything runs off of AI, not scripted events.

i just beat the covenant on legendary with tough luck, fog, and thunderstorm on- took me 80mins, some of the most frustrating deaths(only 19 tho) but also some of the most epic halo i've played in a while

And if you say call of duty i will end you.

I must voice my opinion on the lack of "Epic" battles.

The scarab battles were awesome, but I wanted something EPIC. Like the diorama they have in their commercial, i wanted something like that :( Or at least something like the beginning of silent cartographer in Halo 1
Take off the rose-tinted spectacles, pull your old copy of Halo out, and go play Silent Cartographer again. Even the smallest skirmishes in Halo 3 are comparable, and the larger fights absolutely dwarf it.

That said, one thing that Halo did amazingly well was dynamically spawning enemies just out of sight, to make individual feel like they were part of a larger fight than they really were, despite the fact that you're really only fighting 6-10 things at once at a maximum (barring infection forms, that is).

OK......

So is bungie ever going to comment about the site being borked?

Just some basic info like what's going on, how long will it be like this, if the missing games are gone for good, etc, would be lovely

Just got my last meta-game achievment on the final level tonight. (Legendary, w/Fog, Famine, Thunderstorm enabled) I have to say, this game has thoroughly rocked my fuckin world. Just hearing the music play during the final minutes of the last level gives me goosebumps. I love the story so much. The Arbiter went from being the character I cared nothing about whatsoever to becoming Master Chief's buddy who saved my ass many times and made me want to return the favor. That's pretty fuckin' cool, IMO.

Anyway, Game of the Year hands down for me. Nothing will come close. Not without 4-player co-op and some of the best goddamn multiplayer ever concieved, cuz Halo 3 has both of those on top of a kickass story mode.

Plus, I'm obsessing over the achievments. Only 6 to go and I'll have the katana to show for it. Of course, all you cheating stat-boosting asswipes have lessened the meaning of the katana, but whatever. I'll still have it and be proud of it.

I've been playing this game for a while now, and I have a VERY stupid question to ask. Two actually.

1. What are skulls and how do you get them?
2. What are the meta-games and how do you play them?

Feel free to mock me as long as I get answers. :lol

I would also like the answer to the second question.

skulls are options that let you modify the game, make it harder or add novelty, you find them in very hidden spots in the levels, use youtube if you don't want to hunt.

For the meta game, you turn it on the same way you do the skulls, press X in the campaign menu before starting a level.

Finally finished the campaign today!

Wow. Err
WTF At killing soo many people, WTF at the Flood helping you and then having to go fight them. WTF at no Gravemind. Sigh

I say we get blimblim or someone of equal skill to take the best of Bungie's favourites or other popular clips and capture them and put them on his site. Would that bring any legal issues?
I'd be happy to capture and encode the very best ones. Just let me know which ones to get ;)

Has there been any word on a soundtrack release? I know this was asked like.. 2 weeks ago, but I was hoping there would be some new news of it.

The 8th level is by far the worst in the game due to this things that shoot out Carbine like rounds. Also, the level would have been better if you did not have to backtrack.

10 levels? You mean 9 the intro is not really a level even if Bungie put it in the level list. :P

And, did Bungie setup the 7th level to be the best by far? Just an awesome level. I have to admit at one point I thought Bungie had added a level with an outer space dogfight with you manning the guns. It would have been a pretty cool level if they had added something like that in.

:lol Yeah
I thought that was pretty weird. I didn't even notice that they were helping me until I killed the last one

And I finally got to 25 on Lone Wolf :D

Well to be fair, there's never been a million simultaneous users on Halo 3. :lol
The number reported in game seems to be users in the last 24 hours. The only "accurate" currently online count I've seen for Halo 3 is on bungie.net... currently at 323,073 players.

And so you have the inside info on which is more accurate? Right.

I don't think I'm trusting Bungie.net considering whats happening to their stat system, over the in-game function which seems to be working fine and is always labeled current users in the matchmaking pool, not 24 hours.

I am sure there is SOME reason why Bungie isn't allowing 16 player matchmaking as they advertised, I'd just like to hear one.

The deed is done.

First game I've gotten all of the achievements in since King Kong (lol)

BTB is only 12 initially so that MM can sort out who should be hosting 16 player matches and who shouldn't.

About the 'science' of the Ark:
The Ark & the Halos must have artificial gravity. The Halos don't rotate quickly enough to generate gravity through centrifugal force. Plus even the human ships have artificial gravity so I'm sure the Forerunners could knock something up.
I quite liked the fact that when you see the galaxy in the Ark's sky, it appears as a barred spiral (there's some evidence that our galaxy is like this). Bit of a pity that it looks different when it comes up on the display in the cartographer.

:lol You mean other than the person with the best ping?

It's not as simple as making the person with the best ping host. They need to collect data on who has the most upload bandwidth, ping in relation to everyone else in the game, and if he or she has their ports open and accepting connections correctly.

Also, I'm sure they keep track of things like if a hosts upload bandwidth is varying too much in an unnatural way, which would point to them manipulating the connection to gain an advantage - thus after enough data is collected that someone would be blocked from being allocated host.

Frankly, this just sounds ridiculous. Four more people suddenly tips the scales so much that they need to shut down the 16player mode, log data over a long time, and then restrict all hosts to who they have data on, it just sounds overdone.

I'm not believing a word of that shit until it comes from the horses mouth.

Wouldn't the best way to test who would be a good host in a 16 players game is to have... 16 player games? Then cull out the repeated bad hosts, that were somehow bad despite a good ping and upload speed?

Why can't I hear people through my headphones during matchmaking matches? I seem to be able to hear them in the lobby fine, but during the match, nothing.

you're probably not pressing on the d-pad in certain matchmaking games
or if you're playing lone wolves, no one can hear you scream
