I did the last asian language setting...is that the correct one?
Right. The three Asian languages are Japanese, Korean and Chinese respectively. You want the last one which is Chinese.

When you go into Slayer press X to enter matchmaking options and select the last option which specifies the search to Chinese-speaking gamers only. As someone correctly pointed out, the search is so specific that nobody but achievement whores will be found. :)

Most of the players I came across spoke Chinese or Japanese, but that really isn't a problem. Depending on the level they will understand exactly which achievements are attainable so just go grab your Spartan Laser, get into your Mongoose etc. and they will co-operate.

Hope that helps.

Not sure if you mean this one, or the one on the first mission, at the dam.

not to be cocky or anything but I have found the first few levels on legendary (co op) to be really (relative to halo 1 and moreso 2 ) easy. I think I only died a few times on each of the first 3 but I was being way cautious because of halo 2.

I'm pretty far from the best Halo player - I'd say I'm average. There's been a couple of battles on Legendary that I had a hard time getting through - that particular fight took me well over an hour to beat, and I spent two and a half on the garage encounter on Tsavo. But aside from the dam fight on Sierra 117 and those two, it's been pretty smooth sailing; the Storm and the mission after haven't been bad at all.

that room I literally marched in and out of in about 5 minutes flat, I dont even think I died more than once or twice. maybe it because I am noob comboing it up the whole way through. I am not an elite player either. I guess some skulls are in order. I am playing with cowbell on too , maybe thats the difference (and grunt birthday :D ) .

Story question about the end of mission 7/beginning of mission 8:

What was the ring that rose up out of nowhere? Was that the destroyed Halo from the first game? Also, where does mission 8 take place? Am I on High Charity (I heard Cortana mention that after I recovered her) or still on the Ark?

Campaign is really good so far, but the story seems kind of scattered and random.

A few things:

1. Whatever happened to the slick HUD overlay that came up when you respawned?
2. Has anyone figured out what happens on Isolation after a while?
3. Remake Midship.

Yeah, all that happens is that the terrain changes. The ground becomes "infected." It changes color slightly and becomes covered in blotches. And I think that small particles start falling from the sky.

from my understanding it is a partially reconstructed replacement, the ark seems to be where the halo rings were created as well as a central firing location and safe haven, im guessing in case a ring was destroyed the sentinels will automatically begin building a replacement

It's a replacement Halo. That's what the Ark does - it builds Halos. It's a Forge. And you're on High Charity, which the Flood have crashed into the Ark.

I missed something in your previous post that has me feeling not quite so inferior.

Co-op. I'm talking solo. It's a pretty different experience, when everyone's attention is focused on you, and there's no backup.

Definately. I've played through the game Legendary, co-op, and it wasn't that bad. Even with some skulls on, it wasn't that terrible.

I've attempted to play a few levels solo on Legendary, and I didn't try it for very long: it was more than I wanted to tackle at the time. And I'm a pretty decent player. It's not impossible, solo -- but it's certainly tough.

Does anyone else just, oh I don't know, love the Jackal Snipers on Sierra 117 when playing on the Legendary difficulty? I just love how they kill you with one shot, and they can predict your every move, and they can take almost as much damage as a low-level Brute can. Really fun enemies to fight, especially after the 167,890 death. Really, really fun.

Another thing that's really a blast is when you're around 10,000 points in the Meta game, only to have a lovely Jackal Sniper ruin your entire score. Superb.

the game is way too hard on legendary going at it solo. i simply do not have the patience to die over and over again by snipers when i've cleared the area and am moving along. ugh.

They're still not as bad as in Halo 2, but they're a LOT closer than I was hoping they'd be. The three snipers on far side of the dam at the end of that level gave me fits; I'd empty a full BR into one and he's snipe me as soon as I stopped firing. >.<

Oddly enough, those are the only ones so far that have been a problem, as the others have been where I had ample cover, weapons or proximity.

Ahhh I know that feeling. I planned on going through campaign on Legendary but after the 20th or so death in that Jackal Sniper path on Sierra 117 I just abandoned ship.

It's not a challenge, it's just retarded. Even if the Snipers were controlled by the best players in the world you wouldn't die as often. The AI just cheats and reads your movements. So cheap and annoying.

I've completed 2 missions on Legendary so far (co-op) and each one took well over an hour. It's going to be a real pain getting that damn achievement.

I gave you a pretty good explanation of how to access the Achievement Whore lobby in Matchmaking. Read up!

No, thank you. I was just curious if anyone here could lend a hand....I'm only being matched with 3 other people.

Ok this is slightly weird. Completed level 5 last night and framerate for the whole level was a rock solid 30fps. Not a single drop. Why do the previous levels have problems? Even MP is never ever this smooth. Is that normal? Could there be something wrong with my machine or disk? Level 6 was smooth enough outside but dropped heaps in the last part when you're inside. Which didn't make sense because inside in level 5 was smooth as. Should I try another disk or look at having my 360 looked at?

OH GOD, I know exactly where you're talking about. I always have a super hard time with that area, but for some reason, I have more trouble in the area right before that part. There's plenty of cover, but I always run out of Battle Rifle/Carbine ammo, and those are the only two weapons that can really take out the Jackals from a safe distance. Plus, there's Jackals all over the place, so I can't really run and attempt to get another weapon. You want to take cover behind a rock in the rear where it looks completely safe? (after you take out the Brute and several harmless dangerous Grunts) Too bad, a Jackal sniper is right above you. You want to take cover behind that gigantic tree? Again, too bad. There's two Jackals on the tree, two on the far side where the Phantom usually goes, and one above you again. Etc. Maybe I should just jump onto the upper areas instead of falling down to the bottom. It would certainly make things easier. Much easier said than done though. There's always a plethora of Grunts and Brutes just waiting to rip me into pieces.

I'm gonna hop on right now doing that language thing. Hopefully it works and we get matched up together... i need the laser, boarding, and overkill achievements.

edit: fucking a, i always get games with 3 other people which makes it nearly impossible to get an overkill achievement... and its on guardian so no vehicles and no laser, ugh. i'll help others get them though.

Comparing Halo 3 to Halo 2 legendary you have to keep in mind that it was overly tough and unfair in Halo 2. Thats no what legendary is all about. Remember the 2nd or 3rd boarding ship?

I need a bunch. God I'm So freaking tired of Slayer. I'm good at Objective Games, but not that good at slayer. What sucks is that 4/5 people always veto Crazy King on High Ground, and say "woo-hooo" for slayer on Snowbound.

I'm tired of it.

Sounds like my problem exactly. That's way I used the Asian options to get the rest of my achievements. Now I can play whatever I feel like and go back Lone Wolf when I want to boost my level 33 some more.

Absolutely. At times I get so frustrated with it, I feel like I could kill someone! On co-op with three other players I didn't have too much trouble, but my god, when you're by yourself you're pretty much screwed. When I beat the game on Legendary by myself a few days ago, dying didn't really get to me. I'd just try to shrug it off. It did frustrate me a few times, but never really pissed me off. Now, however, that I'm actually not trying to die even once...it's just maddening.

Use the sniper rifle that you find before the dam.

Wait, there's a sniper rifle I've been missing all this time!? :o

Is it up on the cliffs leading up to the Jackal with the carbine or is it on the bottom where the Brute and 100,000 Grunts come storming in?

hehe, my co op partner isnt that good ;) I think I finished that level a little over the 15000 mark for points and he had like 2000 or something. coop does make it a little easier regardless but halo 2 was a bitch even with the help

They are SO much more fair than in Halo 2/Legendary. Thank you for listening Bungie!

It is at the section just before the dam. Find the downed Pelican (can't miss it) and there you will find a sniper rifle. Makes the dam part much easier.

I've helped you now comment on my other post about MP framerate. Please. :)

When I first played through I was naturally hiding behind the big metal shield thingie picking off brutes, and when that Cheiftan decided he'd seen enough and b-lined for me I thought 'well, I'm safe for now behind this thing'. How wrong I was, as he sent the whole thing and myself flying against the back wall with one swing of his hammer. Needless to say it made quite an impression on me, and had to have it for myself. :)

I really wish there were more hammers strewn around in the SP campaign. I could bludgeon Covenant for hours and never get bored.

So who has successfully managed to get the FFA achievements using the Asian method?

I just did. Been matched up with the same players, we vetoed Guardian and got Snowbound. The only achievement I'm missing now is Overkill and that's cause I keep getting matched up with only three people and by the time they respawn and come back it's too late.

:lol

I don't know what could be causing your copy of Halo 3 to do that, to be honest. It could be a cache problem. Every time I've played through Campaign it's been silky smooth for me. Maybe a little sputter here and there.

Turn on the promotion upgrade skull and play it solo.

I played through the first two levels with that, getting about 22.5k points on each and it's at the perfect difficulty. Hard, yes, but quite possible and extremely satisfying.

I have TWO must see games in my profile, so go watch them, they are good =).

http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Lord Relix

Comeback: I start playing like shit, HORRIBLE, and end up winning =P. Pissed everyone off after the game lol.

Tight Fight: Lone Wolves, it was a good match all the way to the end. Who wins? BWAHAHAHA. I made a few DUH mistakes, but the match is good to watch.

So, guys... I have something I call the "Relix Rush". If I don't feel like using UBER skillz then I don't play that well (examples... beginning of Comeback, like 5 minutes not killing a soul, and in Tight Fight I make everyone bow to me in the first few minutes).

So, if you wanna watch some stuff... DL them =)

Were you playing through Legendary or Heroic with that skull turned on?

Hey I have a quick question for everyone...

I just got my 360 back from its repair and I want to get into Halo 3 finally. I have the Limited Tin edition, and I was under the impression that the 2nd disc had all the cinema's from Halo and Halo 2. I put that essentials disc in, and I cant find these movies... Am I screwed and those movies are only in the Legendary edition? Or am I doing something wrong, and they are on one of these discs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Bungie Favorites section has been updated. There's some pretty awesome film clips in there.

The sticky nade that I'm sure everyone saw already is in there but there's also a sweet overkill clip on Last Resort. Guy takes out the whole red team with a single laser shot. Which reminds me, Bungie needs to put 1 Flag CTF on Last Resort in the Big Team Battle playlist.
