I have a question.

Let's say I do the first five missions on Legendary co-op, then finish up the remaining four on my own (still on Legendary). Will I get the 125 points for beating campaign on Legendary? In other words, does a mix of co-op and solo still entitle me to the achievement?

Logic tells me yes but you never know.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, you should still get the achievement. (I'm 99% sure anyway)

You can steal Wraiths? I should have been reading this thread. I thought you could only board from the front and blow it up.

Anyway I just beat it on Legendary. It was actually pretty easy, except for the part people have just been talking about. I died 103 times on Tsavo and most of them were right there. But yeah, I was really surprised at how comparatively easy it was. There were probably 3 or 4 parts in the whole game that gave me a lot of trouble. The second hardest part was probably the very last part of the first level, rescuing Johnson on the dam. I was dreading Cortana, but dual plasma rifles and a sword (both in good supply) made it easy.

After a few playthroughs I finally feel qualified to give my opinion. I really liked the game. Much better than Halo 2 but while undoubtedly a better game than the first, it didn't have the same impact. I think 3 is a good stopping point for a while before hopefully changing things up a little bit in the next one. Aside from the Cortana level, my biggest complaint is the story. They go into ancillary detail about things that don't matter (welcoming scenes, minor arguments that result in nothing of consequence) while skipping over entire plot points or showing them, unexplained, in a 4 second clip from one cutscene. Those kind of details are a good thing to have, but make sure overarching story is cohesive first. It's hard to believe that it wasn't done on purpose, since Bungie is a very competent team and I'm sure they'd notice such gaps. The last thing I'll say against the game is that too many of the set piece battles play out too similarly, even on multiple difficulties. Especially the Scarab battles.

Aside from that it was golden.

Multiplayer is sex with one exception: Having to invite friends or be in a party to play co-op or custom matches. I don't have any friends on XBL (I don't like talking) so I miss out on the parts I was looking forward to most. I really hope Bungie changes their stance on that at some point. But anyway, it seems a lot more solid since the Beta. The maps are almost uniformly awesome while each offering a different experience. What more do you want?

So I got the IWHBYD skull, but it still says that skull isn't there when I try to turn it on... Anyone know why this is?

When you exited that campaign mission after you got the skull, did you Save & Exit or quit out another way?

Ah! I finally managed to get past Tsavo Highway on legendary. I was (somewhat) cheap, but I did it. Ran towards the Wraith, plasma overcharge to stun it, jump on the wraith, shotgun + melee to the gunner brute, slap the wraith till the drivers out, board it and then cleared the rest of level with my wraith. All in all that level probably took me around 3 hours.

Congrats. Now I don't feel bad. It took me about 3 hours as well on Legendary. I took a bit of a different approach. I headed up the dam (or elevated highway...whatever it was) and took out as many Brutes as I could (starting with the yellow armored bitch near the Wraith and the other near the group of buildings). My intial plan was to get the fuel rod cannon from the bitch and take out the tank from the safety of the cement pipes. However, just before getting it an explosion (not sure what from) destroyed it. I then had to slowly make my way to the group of buildings to collect the fuel rod gun from the other yellow armored brute. It was pretty intense as I was running low on available weapons and was close to having only the melee attack. I cleared out the Brutes from the group of buildings and then used a BR to take out the Wraith gunner. After that kill I started to look around and noticed that I killled every enemy in the area. I circled around to the cement pipes, walked out from their cover and triumpently struted right up to the back of that Wraith and shoved a grenade up it's ass. I quickly backed away and watched the tank blow up in front of me with a smug "eat that fucker" look on my face.

Dammit. What's more reliable for getting achievements: Going asian, or asking pregame lobby? I don't want ot level up too much before it gets too late. :(

I got them all in roughly ten rounds by going asian. Every game I went into was filled with achievement whores.

I realized I've never shared my GT.

If anyone wants to add me, GT is: Red Moon Rizing

(I'm not that good yet)

Same thing. I just went into Lone Wolves reading to play, but then while I'm searching around Snowbound, I find nobody. I'm thinking" Uh, where the fuck is everyone?".

I go to the middle of the map, outside, and BOOM, 4 people standing next to each other. I think "Oh god, time to get Spartan Laser", grab it, shoot two guys while they're helping someone get the Killing Frenzy achievement (which I got legitly 3 or so days ago). Two guys down from my Spartan Laser (achievement unlocked!), melee one dude in the back who was trying to kill me for ruining their match "TRIPLE KILL" (achievement unlocked!).

I see another guy coming towards the central area that they were boosting, so I decide to start unloading with the Carbine right now, and once he gets close, I melee him "OVERKILL" (achievement unlocked!). Then I get killed by a dude who was there watching me fight the other dude w/ the Carbine.

EDIT: Not done in Asia, obviously. All done in NA.

Who's down with doing Legendary co-op tonight (don't care about scoring) from Tsavo Highway---->???

I'll probably be on around 7pm central (GMT-6).

How is like 10 eastern for you guys???
What's that in GMT? I'll be up till pretty late so I'm sure I'll be able to catch at least one mission with you guys.

Edit: 3am :lol Might be able to do one or two missions.

Yeah I'll be down for whatever time, GT: The Lamonster

Have to warn you though, been missing a lot of sleep lately so if I get tired I might not be down.

EDIT: And no, unfortunately it's not because of secks.

How I beat the
two Scarabs
in mission 7 on Legendary:

Instead of hopping in a car and shooting the legs of the first Scarab, just hop in the first pelican and the pilot will fly you above either the left or right Scarab. When you're above one, drop yourself on it and head to the core as fast as you can. For Scarab number two run to a tank as soon as possible (the one you arrived with), and shoot annoying enemy vehicles first from a distance. Be careful for the Scarab though, it will fire at you, even from a larger distance. After the vehicles are out of the way, find your soldiers driving the 'bazooka car' and take control of it. Drive under the legs of the second Scarab, and let your soldier shoot it's legs to pieces. Once it goes down, take out any Brutes, and proceed with caution. I highly recommend using the Fuel Rod. Watch out for the turrets. Destroy the core, and you got yourself a checkpoint.

Finished The Storm on Legendary too. So far it's probably relatively easiest level on legendary.
The Scarab wouldn't come close enough to the crane for me to jump on it so I had to improvise and found a sniper rifle on that same crane.

Did some achievement boosting...got the 5 grenade sticks achievement. Some guy was really cool and helped me out.

Tried doing the mongoose one, but its pretty dadgum hard. Does the guy have to have his backed turned to you for it to work?

:lol that is awesome!

Wow, I only realized just now that I missed half the ending. As soon as the "thank you" text message was shown I pressed "A" since I though I had to press to get past it, and then I was flung out to the main screen.

One of my hardest battles on Legendary, if not the hardest, was the Brute fight early on in the game. Lots of Brutes, and the Hammer. Battle Rifle really helped there:lol.

Tieno, I love that first image of you sniping the Scarab.

It's easier with tight turns rather than just trying to run straight in to someone.

Not sure if you mean this one, or the one on the first mission, at the dam.

Ah yes. The Hammer. :(

For the Headshot Acheivement, do I have to get them with the sniper or BR in campaign? I am certain I have gotten more than ten headshots in the campaign with the BR, but it says I do not have the acheivement.

essentially changing a setting for the xbox where it is suipposed to match you up with a certain asian region that has virtually no halo 3 players thereby you end up with other people there to get achievements

I did the last asian language setting...is that the correct one?

OK, so I'm just trying to find skulls right now....and I found the first one on Sierra 117. I pick it up but the game doesn't inform me that I found anything. No achievement, not message, nada. Zip. I'm just walking around with a skull in my hands. What the hell do I have to do for it to register?

Ah yes. The Hammer. :(

When I first played through I was naturally hiding behind the big metal shield thingie picking off brutes, and when that Cheiftan decided he'd seen enough and b-lined for me I thought 'well, I'm safe for now behind this thing'. How wrong I was, as he sent the whole thing and myself flying against the back wall with one swing of his hammer. Needless to say it made quite an impression on me, and had to have it for myself. :)

I need a bunch. God I'm So freaking tired of Slayer. I'm good at Objective Games, but not that good at slayer. What sucks is that 4/5 people always veto Crazy King on High Ground, and say "woo-hooo" for slayer on Snowbound.

I'm tired of it.

I'm no skull expert (only have two), but I think I read that some skulls won't tell you anything has happened becuase they aren't tied to an achievement or something. You should see that skull show up after you save & quit, though.

only gold skulls carry achievements, so the one he is referring to will not prmopt him, the later one there will though
