I've gotten all but the sword one ... but none of those are easy. The problem isn't that they're really difficult skill-wise (save for the killtacular), but that they're only doable on a small number of maps. For example, swords only appear on Pit and Construct maps, the laser only appears on Snowbound and Construct, and the mongoose is only on Isolation.Scarecrow said:So, since it seems I'm going to have to earn the 'chievements the hard way, does anyone have any tips on:
-mongoose
-triple sword kill
-double kill w/ lazer
-killtacular?

Thanks, plaid and kittens. My real fear was that eventually I'd get to a high enough skill level that enemies wouldn't be making mistakes that would allow the achievements.plaidtopia said:I've gotten all but the sword one ... but none of those are easy. ... which means, like me, you're in for a lot of filler Lone Wolf games.
For the mongoose one, just dedicate an entire Isolation round to driving around like an idiot. It's actually pretty tough to nail someone hard enough with that thing, but it'll happen. For the laser, I got it when someone was trying to board another's ghost on Snowbound, but that one's just a matter of being in the right time at the right place and hogging the laser. As for the killtacular, well, that one's up to you, mostly. I'd suggest camping with the gravity hammer, shotgun or sword on any map (Guardian's great for a bunch of quick kills).
Ditto. *sigh*Scarecrow said:My real fear was that eventually I'd get to a high enough skill level that enemies wouldn't be making mistakes that would allow the achievements.
So you need all 49 achievements for the Katana Armor, eh?_dd_ said:Super Ninja:

Dammit, looks like I'll be playing Lone Wolves for months..._dd_ said:Yup, but the achievements are fairly easy (except some of the online ones), and I think the armor is worth it![]()

Promised land confirmed -- I'm racing towards level 30 as fast as I can. I just wanna get back to playing the fun team stuff, anyway. Only with sweet, sweet Marathon armor.Smokey Bones said:lone wolves becomes wack after you get passed level 30. all ppl wanna do is get achievements.

People are getting too good for me to actually get the achievements I need.
Such as? Something like "let me get the achievement and you can kill me 25 times"?Scarecrow said:maybe i'll have to make bargains with people in the lobby to help me get some 'cheivs.

Totally agree with you on the helmet.Mar_ said:The katana is awesome, yeah. But that helmet... God it looks horrible. It looks like the mutated offspring of a power ranger and ultraman.

Yeah, I got up to 42 and it was rough. But ultimately, it's time well spent.Eric WK said:Unfortunately that doesn't happen when you're playing 47s and 48s.

It's another piece of body armour. It's identical to the Hayabusa body piece, except with the katana on the back.Sean said:Does the sword always show up on your dude no matter what armor? Or is it an option or what?
Yes and no. Gears achievements actually hurt Team games. Bungie made the achievement requirements in such a way as to deter "boosting", but little did they realize that people want that shit so bad they'll find a way. Dammit Bungie, you've reduced me to begging just to get that Overkill!Sean said:The Halo 3 multiplayer achievements are seriously flawed, I'd say even worse than Gears of War MP achievements (at least currently - a Lone Wolves playlist update can fix many of these issues).
Everyone complained about Gears' achievements only being available in ranked matches and Bungie repeats the same mistake but makes matters even worse by limiting them to just ONE single playlist. And to further complicate things, a bunch of the achievements (mongoose, sword, boarding, laser, etc) are only attainable on like one or two maps.
But the most flawed part about them is that the longer you play, it becomes much more difficult because you're ranking up and facing more skilled opponents. These players aren't going to let themselves get splattered or crowd around each other or anything like that.
I specifically remember someone from Bungie (Stinkles I think) saying they spent a lot of time on the achievements and that something like this wouldn't happen. So much for that....

You have around 15 seconds of chat time before the match actually begins. Repeated crouching during gameplay seems to signal "don't shoot me, I'm up for achievement boosting".Costanza said:How are you guys convincing people to cheat the achievements on Lone Wolves? I thought there's no voice chat.
It's much more satisfying to get that achievement without being a dirty cheater whore. Itagaki would call you a Ninja Dog.a Master Ninja said:You have around 15 seconds of chat time before the match actually begins. Bungie, look what you made me do:

Honor is but a roadblock to getting the sword.Tieno said:It's much more satisfying to get that achievement without being a dirty cheater whore. Itagaki would call you a Ninja Dog.
So I take it the object is to rank boost until one reaches level 50. What's the point? Rank is just for getting matched with people of a similar skill level.Eric WK said:Well it's gotten to the point where people in Lone Wolves are private chatting and working together - protecting each other when they have the ball, sharing hill time, etc.
So fucking lame.

I used the hornet, it makes that battle so easy it's not funny. Just stay high and circle one of the scarabs while shooting its legs until it stops moving. Then you can shoot the target on its ass and finally the core. Rinse and repeat for the other scarab.tedtropy said:Out of curiosity, how do you guys take down the two Scarabs on legendary? After several failed approaches I eventually used the tank to blast the ass off one of them and hit its core using that method, took out all the Ghosts, assorted bastards running around on the remaining Scarab using the tank, then used a Hornet to board and finish off the other one, and even that took some time and alot of luck.
